Did you know the producers of The Tudors were going to keep Natalie’s blond hair (shows just how shaky the accuracy was in the early seasons), but she overruled them and dyed it black to match Anne’s appearance, and apparently she requested some of her scripts be changed because they were so historically wrong. Yes girl caring about history 👏
I found it so sad how Wolf Hall had Anne walking around with wrinkly dresses, in weird modern cheap looking fabrics, and with a headband on with some gaushy thin veil stapled to it. Katherine of Aragons gable hood looked like a paperbox folded on her head with some fabric glued on it. You saw it shaking each time she slightly moved her head. Which is so weird to me, as WH seems to be represented as this historically accurate TM series. And Mary Boleyn and side characters had fitting dresses and better hoods. Anne was the fashion icon of her time and she appears like that. Claire Foye did great though. And Nathalie is soo my fav Anne as well! Loved the video!
Maybe that had to with Claire Foy being pregnant at the time of the shooting, so they couldn't properly fit the dress? And yes many of French hoods are abominable, but some of those are tolerable enough i.e. the French hood Anne wore at Thomas More's resignation, at the party "celebrating" Katherine's death, at the Tower when she was visited by Cromwell (the "I have a little neck" scene). Tolerable because, well it does not show the ear too much, black, not too visibly sheer, and worn with neat hair arrangement.
@@muhammadalifaqsha9014 On a similar note, Helena Bonham Carter was pregnant during the filming of the ITV Henry VIII. That's probably why there are so many awkward closeups with her to hide that.
People wear badly fitting, cheap looking clothes now. They did then, too. Holbein had to sex up some of his portraits to make people look better - giving Jane Seymour lace and jewels she wasn’t wearing. There was no time period people dressed as well as their best pictures on a regular basis. Ever. In the whole of history. When you see a show where everything fits and looks good, it’s fake. Loved WH.
Genevieve Bujold is my Anne Boleyn, love the movie and the portrayal. Claire Foy and Dorothy Tutin are close runner ups. Not a fan of the Tudors but will agree Natalie Dormer is great just not my favourite. Helena Bonham Carter is a bit of a guilty pleasure, just because I love HBC even if miscast. Natalie Portman is fine I just hate the film. In defence of Charlotte Rampling’s version, the film is told from Henry’s memory so it makes sense he would’ve remembered her that way. Not a true portrayal of the real person but accurate to how he would’ve perceived her.
My Top 5 Favourite Portrayals: 1. Geneviève Bujold 2. Clare Foy 3. Charlotte Rampling 4. Dorothy Tutin/ Natalie Dormer 5. Merle Oberon If she'd have been given the Opportunity 15 Years Ago, I think Eva Green would have been a brilliant fit as Anne Boleyn.
my uncle worked on the set of the tudors and i can tell you that Natalie dormer was crying backstage before she did her final scene of the show saying ''its all over now'' ...just shows how much of this character Natalie dormer took in... Best Anne Boleyn ever!
Actully Charlotte Rampling is my absolute favourite. Although her depiction portrays some of the nasty rumors, the actress is so charismatic and so appealing, that I can see that none of those "disfigurements", which were minor, would stop any man from falling for her. I mean, I'm not a fan of Anne, but I would myself date the one from this movie:) For me the only problem is little screentime, but even with what she was given, she portrayed a whole range of emotions, she was brave, proud, flirty, smart, desperate. Ah now I want to rewatch the movie again:)
I prefer the older productions of historical events because they just want the person who's story they are telling to be accurate. Not the over rated holly weird productions that is 99% dramatised to get an audience.
I love your way of going about this by showing your opinions and then showing the votes so it’s not just bias ps you should do one about Katheryn Howard
woww i can’t believe you didn’t like wolf hall 😅 i read the books and i loved them - cromwell’s portrayal, how the courtiers acted when the king was and wasn’t around, and so much more - but i do agree with you that claire foy smashed it as anne boleyn
Just found your channel! I’m obsessed with Tudor history! And anything to do with King Henry the eighth! You do an amazing job! I will be following your channel! Keep up the good work! Thank you!❤
Hardcore agree that Natalie Dormer is the best Anne!!!! Now all you that are filled with self-loathing and bigotry will be triggered by the next statement. It is NEVER acceptable to swap race, gender, sexuality on an actual HISTORICAL PERSON!!!!! You can do that as much as you want with FICTIONAL PEOPLE although please make the character and story good ( I'm tired of stories that suck ) and you will see that almost no one cares.
Glad to see Dorothy T rank so high. Such an underrated portrayal. Her age at the time of her portrayal always gets thrown at her and keeps her from receiving more credit but it's not that big a deal. Anne was possibly 35 or 36 when executed so Dorothy wouldn't have been that old for the role. Also people of the time period probably looked older than they were so Dorothy would've been the perfect choice. Regardless, Dorothy's excellent portrayal should outshine all those issues
I liked wolf hall (obviously Anne Boleyn was the best part despite the terrible dresses) but I did feel like it hated all the female characters in the show, they were all catty and weirdly in love/lust with Cromwell which... Like no ? (No hate to the actor but I would have bought it more if it was the case in the tudors XD). Overall it's my favourite cause it was my first Tudor show and I'm biased (also the books are really really well written even with some issues) XD Also #unpopularopinion but for Cromwell to climb so high he had to be good at making friends and be an extrovert the sad snarky boring guy would not have gotten far Oh and the other Boleyn girl was atrocious and Philippa Gregory should be ashamed
+Mistress Seymour How could Helena Bonham Carter have been too old for the role? Anne when she married Henry would've been between 26yrs old and 32yrs years old.
Recent discoveries does show the great love they had at one time. I agree Natalie Dorman was the best, even though Henry was actually twice the size of Rhys-Jones. The Other Boleyn girl was more like fan fiction. It was totally inaccurate on so many levels I lost count.
IMO, Tutin and Bujold were the best. I've had such a hard time watching The Tudors TV series mostly because of glaring inaccuracies, especially with costumes. Btu maybe I hosuld revisit it.
I thought that Genevieve was brilliant, and to me she was very attractive, but not in a conventional way, and exuded the 'hint of Frenchness' that I think was a large part of her intial attraction to Henry. My biggest criticism was the way they had her feeling sympathy for Moore, etc., and telling Henry to stop the persecution of anyone who wasn't supporting them, because Anne was never going to be naive enough to think that her place was secure until she had produced a male heir. I loved Dorothy Tutin and that whole series. But it's main weakness was the whole convention of 'one episode per wife', because I think that really short-changed both Catherine of Aragon's and Anne Boleyn's stories. The Catherine of Aragon episode had to fit in decades of her life and relationship with Henry into 90 minutes, half of which was featuring Anne as well. And then Anne's episode was only dealing with the last few months of her life. I think to be fair to both women, you need at least a separate episode devoted to Catherine prior to the point of where Henry meets Anne, one episode devoted to his pursuit of Anne, Catherine's response, and all that led up to Henry finally deciding to leave Catherine and marry Anne. Then one episode showing Henry's marriage to Anne, Catherine's life away from him, Catherine's death, Anne's last miscarriage and subsequent trial and death.
Nice! Your videos should be seen by more viewers. May I repost your channel without changing anything on the clean platform named Gan Jing World? Thank you!
I didn't really liek the tudors anne boleyn because...well they made her jealous of mary and Catherine and made her even tell her brother to send people to kill them both in documents its never said she hated mary it makes anne sound like a jealous insecure child
as much as I love Natalie's Anne and love that she protected Anne as much as she could, the tudors did not help Anne Boleyns "image" at all. By not including Henry Percy and making that strange storyline with Thomas whyatt, made it seem like she was just using men to gain power. I've seen so many people believe that the whole boleyn family was just power hungry because of The Tudors. It's great TV but it's seen as an an educational series when it's just historical drama

Yes pls! Natalie Dormer was Anne Boleyn x ❤️
Absolutely Natalie Dormer was the best.
Yep
Same. When I think of Anne Boleyn my mind immediately goes to Natalie Dormer. I am IN LOVE with that woman!❤ she’s such an underrated actress❤
WHY did you ALWAYS forget Jodhi May????? (The Other Boleyn girl, 2003)...??
Natalie Dormer was amazing as Anne Boleyn❤️ She is a great actress in general and history fan
Natalie was born to play Anne end off
I adore Natalie as Anne! Though the show is not historically accurate I am obsessed

Natalie Dormer was born to suit this role!

Phillippa Gregory writes fiction, we need to remember that.

Natalie Dorma played the best Ann Boylen
Natalie Dormer IS Anne Boleyn ❤
Dorothy Tutin, hands down! The problem is this mini-series was filmed in 1970 and most voters here had not been born.
Natalie Dormer🏆
Jodie Turner ---why is no one mentioning the obvious, worst most inaccurate historically incorrect anachronistic choice ever.

Natalie Dormer and Dorothy Tutin for me.
