The unification of *Saudi* Arabia*
Also fun fact. The accurate translation of the Arabic name would be The Saudi Arab Kingdom. There is no Arabia.
yo yo
Yup, my thoughts exactly, Saudi Arabia means an Arabia which is Saudi, and they don't control all of Arabia to be able to make that claim.
*****
Arabia exists, it's another name for the Arabian peninsula. But not all of it is Saudi. But that's besides the point.
The kingdom of Saudi Arabia should be called the Saudi Arab Kingdom, since that's what it's called in Arabic, and that's what the name
المملكة العربية السعودية
Means.
+BongBong You can't compare the tow. The concept of France is political and somewhat cultural. The concept of Arabia is purely geographic. A better comparison would have been Iberia maybe.

You know what would be a good video for the mapping community would be the end and aftermath of WW1, especially the collapse of the German/Ottoman/Russian empires and the various factions involved. Perhaps at a scale of all of northeast Eurasia to show events like the Irish war for independence as well. WW1 is often taught with a strict beginning and end but the fighting itself started before the official date in the Balkans and ended much later in Turkey and the consolidation of the Soviet Union.
those all exist in seperate videos
@@drip7110 but it would be nice to make videos to show all the interwar conflicts since a lot of them are not well known nor taught, at least in a specific continent like Europe.

I was going to ask you to do the history of Arabia from the beginning. But even here you started from 1918 instead of 1902, which is the actual start of the reunification of the Third (current) Saudi state.
I suppose that's true technically but I started from here because that's when they had their series of wars more closer together. Especially since World War I caused the redrawing of the middle-east anyway.
Khorps Yeah, most empires were created and fell, and conquerors went right and left, but none of them came into the Arabian Peninsula. But there were civilizations and kingdoms that sprang up there, and some parts of it were under the Persians, the Nabateans, the Romans, the Abyssinians of Ethiopia, etc. The action packed eras start only after the appearance of Muhammed I guess. But as you said, would love to see the history from the beginning.
EmperorTigerstar there a lot of videos talking about Arabia from the beginning and actually I uploaded one...
This is not unification but expansion. United Kingdom of Arabia was promised by British to Hashimite dynasty of Mecca Sheriff's.
No.
I think you mean hejaz kingdom.
King Abdul Aziz was seeking to unite all the Arabs in the Arabian Peninsula, but perhaps he settled for Najd, Hijaz, and Al-Ahsa, and the Shura Council approved that the long name be changed to Saudi Arabia.

Why didn't North Yemen get annexed?
Also, would Qatar/Bahrain/UAE/etc. still exist today if they hadn't been colonized by Britain?
North Yemen was a not indepent state in Ottoman Empire. They taked liberate in 1916.
But south yemen was controlled by GB
Bahrain and UAE are basically controlled by Saudis anyways. Kuwait, Qatar and Oman are much more independent. And Yemen has always basically been the Arabian version of Afghanistan i.e. graveyard of empires.

Arabia is still not united, there are more than 1 countries in the Arab peninsula
Germany was also unified with Austria still missing. They would only dominate the entire region of Germany during the Third Reich. Italy has unified missing regions in Austria, which today they have, and regions of France, which until now they have not governed. But they are still considered unified.
Spain is not united either, there are 3 countries in the old Hispania (today's Iberian Peninsula)
France is not a well defined geographical region, its name comes from the peoples who occupied that area, the Franks. Italy, geographically speaking, is the peninsula of Italy, which today belongs to two countries: Italy and The Vatican. So Italy is not unified but not because of Corsica, Corsica is a geographical region by itself.

What is the state between Nejd and Yemen in 1922?
Najran
neither with Yemen side or Asir or Emirate of Najd .. later they joined Ibn Saud because the leader of Yemen attacked them
Anyone know why the empty quarter stayed unclaimed for so long? Like up until the 30s was there just a few unconquered tribes there, then they decided to join, or were conquered, or both, by the growing Saudi Kingdom? Or was it just a sparsely populated wasteland they took without complaint?
No one formalized the borders since theyre is nothing there and no one bother to fight over it
In the past, the Empty Quarter was completely and literally devoid of residents, and Bedouins and travelers avoided it and crossed near the coast or the direction of Yemen. Until now, there are no residents, only oil and Aramco airports.

It's like saying wars of European unification waged by Nazi Germany. Saudi tribe with the help of England invaded the rest of Arabia.
