In this video, you'll discover how to design unique sounds by turning one-shot samples into synths, drums, and literally any sound you want. My name is Philip from Pick Yourself, and I've created this channel to help electronic music producers like you make meaningful progress with their music.
Today I'm going to reveal a secret weapon that can revolutionize your sound design process for Techno, House, and EDM. This tool is.... drumroll Ableton Live's Sampler device, and trust me when I say it's one of the most underrated tools ever.
Did you know that you can turn your samples into synths by letting them oscillate? It's mind-blowing how you can transform a simple one-shot sample, like a rimshot, into a kick drum, bass, pads, and even lead sounds. The possibilities are endless, and in this video, I will show you exactly how to do it.
By leveraging the power of Ableton Sampler, we'll dive deep into creative techniques that will enable you to work with samples like never before. You'll learn how to manipulate waveforms, apply envelopes and filters, and modulate parameters to shape your sounds in interesting ways. It's all about pushing the boundaries of your creativity and exploring the hidden potential within your samples.

Thank you for the great tips and tutorial on samples....do you use the session view or arrangement view when constructing transitions eg...chorus, verse, breakdown etc....also appreciate the guidebook for the mind and committed work habit. very helpful and looking forward to read and absorb the wisdom.

Thanks so much for the great feedback! I only use session view for the initial idea. Then, I try to move as soon as possible into arrangement view to create a rough end-to-end arrangment. I show the step-by-step process in my course (The Prolific Producer) but the quick version is this: My goal with the core idea is to design the peak part of the song, not just some random loop. I then construct the rough arrangement around that core idea. I find this much more effective compared to randomly playing around with a loop.

@@pickyourselfofficialthank you for explaining your workflow.....would like to see how you approach the process in the arrangement view ( I hardly use it) because it is more visual than session...I will check out your Prolific Producer course. Thank you for your time.
