    Thank you Vince. I met you years ago while i worked at Schilke while they were still on Wabash, you stopped by my work bench and we talked a little about "styles" I've recently just got back to playing after a major health scare and viewing this Master Class has given me some insight to how i should get back into a good practice routine. Safe travels and much happiness to you and your family.

    I'm a beginning trumpet player (at 56 y.o.) and I'm grateful to have stumbled across this video! Great teacher! Great sound!
    Always embarrassed how people attack musicians on social media.
    Put up or shut up.

    I’ve played a lot with his son Gabe (also a great player); it’s so cool to listen to Vince speak and ‘feel’ where Gabe came from. Such a great clinic.

    This is just great. He talks so much sense, unusual for lots of music vids on youtube.

    Vince is one of the absolute best players & teachers in the world. Some of the comments on here are laughable. I would give anything to have his sound. And that just barely scratches the surface. Wow!

    How do you make Ka sound (of double tounge) with front part of tongue?

    "DYNAMICS IS NOT AN ELEMENT OF MUSIC . . . " oh, okay

    • @chandler1243
      @chandler1243 5 років тому +2

      I think what he means by this is; expression is an element of music, and dynamics is just one vehicle that can help show expression .

    dynamics are not an element of music?

    You change harmonics by changing the aperture. Funny how he does not mention that. The tongue does NOT change the PSI of the air as he puts forth at 48.00 to 49.00

      Step Wave 1 I don’t think changing the aperture is the key to change harmonics on trumpet. Aperture is mainly controlling the volume of sound.

    Mannnnnnnnn, idk about that "k" tongue in the front thing. Everything else sounds good.

    So, "expression" was the thing he practised. He really ought to practise that. One Louis Armstrong note has more expression than a whole phrase of his.

      Be real! He plays beautifully and Pops would agree. Do you play the trumpet? I doubt it. Most players have a little more empathy for each other. I'll be looking for your master class video, Jimmie. Right.
