I work with the usd pipeline, and what can I say, it is very raw. Many glitches and non-obvious moments, the level of entry is very high, and there is no improvement in speed, we even called Jeff Wagner, he also does not have answers to many of our questions. In my opinion, the usd pipeline is not yet ready for mass use, it is necessary to make it understandable for everyone, not only for programmers.

yuup, I tried it with maya>houdini>redshift about a year ago in production, once I had a scene with dozens of unique objects with high poly counts it would crash all the time. It's not for indie level productions who lack in the pipeline dept. It's definitely going to be the standard but at the moment it seems the only guys that have made proper use of it are AAA studios with high level pipeline programmers to sus out all the bugs.

True, long way to go, Karma itself is raw and misses a lot of features yet, it has a good solid foundation though, I can see it a good renderer for myself maybe in 3-5 years lol

It works fine mostly in production at least along with Karma.

We have had the opposite experience, it's been a godsend in production, we don't even know how we would had solve many issues without Solaris backing us up, but we were working only with Houdini and Redshift.

Nick I took both your Nuke compositing courses and loved the way you explained things very logically and I learned a ton from those. Cant wait to take this one now that I've picked up houdini

Been using Solaris for the first time during the past week and I'm slowly discovering the intricacies of the system. I find the up to date resources on Solaris lacking and it sometimes feels like you're building a puzzle that you're creating from pieces found in different boxes? So, steps that have been viable two years ago aren't anymore now, or only to an extent and you need to complement them with newer ones. It's not so straight forward as one might think.

Currency in my country is 30 times weaker than the Dollar. This course will teach me a lot but by the time I can afford it (i.e. when Houdini 25 is out), years will have passed!

Would an M1 Max with 64Gb be enough for this course?
Is the software provided or should it be purchased separately? Are there Rebelway discounts on that?
