Absolutely love this new design, so simple yet elegant! Amazing how long that spinner kept going and going. I also like how it uses existing holes, great way to upgrade an existing control panel to include a spinner. Awesome job my friend!

@@GlensRetroShow My largest is 3 panels long with the wrist supports. Well, technically 4 as I have one unit that has your Tron stick and spinner which I connect when I want to play Tron to the main 3-box console.

Glen has children with massive hand strength. Cheap plastic controllers fail quick. That's why the rotary spinner is heavy duty. Love this retro channel.

I can't wait to find out the price. I know it will be a great value like the Tron stick. Which btw, I bought at full price, completely glazing over the fact that you include a usb board with it, thinking I would have to use my own. I'm definitely gonna have to get in on this spinner.

Looks great! A steering wheel attachment would be cool, for games with free spinning wheels (Pole Position etc.)
My buddy Wagner of Wagner's Tech talk made a wheel for my original spinner, I am sure he will do the same here. It can be found on thingiverse under Glen's Retro Show spinner wheel

I bought one of these a while ago. I just tried this one on my MiSTer and it works fine! I tried it for Arkanoid. Now I have to build me a box for it! Should be quite easy. :)
Hi all, I just contacted the company to find out how much the count per turn...it's 1024...so to configure this spinner in MAME, get the count on the game, for example Arkanoid is 486 per turn..multiply by 100 and divide by 1024...47.46 rounded to 48...that’s the value you need to add under the sensitivity for mame...

This didnt work for me i have same spinner and used their formula for tempest and it results in 7
but 7 dosnt move 5 spaces per rotation as it says it should only 3.
20% sensitivity moves five spaces per full turn..

This is great!! I purchased the All GRS Series Controllers on the Kickstarter and am super pumped! (I even purchased the control panel you linked to early on to fit the yoke). I am assuming since you are waiting for the Kickstarter items to go out first, that we will not have the option to substitute/upgrade to the new spinner in lieu of the one that comes with the KS package?
Shane, first thank you so much for the support. To answer your next question the Tron spinner is yes different then then new spinner, but the tech is the same.
Do your colored spinner knobs fit on your new spinner, Glen? The ALU could really use some of your high quality replacement parts. I would certainly like a better spinner and trackball for my ALU unit.
New ones will be made.. the new spinner shaft is smaller then the original. We are working on legends replacement parts

Very cool, Glen! I actually just received your Arcade1Up 12in1 encoder yesterday but it's hard to find a clear answer on this (not a question about your new spinner). Will the 12in1 encoder work with my stock Arcade1Up original spinner (not the upgrade) along with Pi 4? I'm 80% complete with my A1up Tron conversion!

@@GlensRetroShow I've already spent a good chuck of change on this Tron conversion and I'm at the point where wifey is giving me the stink-eye, haha! I was able to mod the spinner to be much better, though. I also have your Tron flightstick btw, and that thing is amazing! I will definitely give you some shoutouts when I upload a vid of my completed Tron A1UP.
Tempest in all its glory... I subscribed. Don't have a 3d printer? A cigar box or wooden Texas pie box can be customized with a hole saw drill.

Glen, great products as I bought all of yours including the Star Wars yoke. One classic game I'm looking for a controller to play is Battlezone with the fire button on top but can't find one anywhere. Would that be a viable product for you to make?

I'm seriously considering this. I was not happy with the Fosiya spinner I bought last year; it doesn't spin very long and the 12-in-1 board that I bought for it seems to have a hard speed limit, making it rather useless for Arkanoid. If you can't be on the other side of the screen INSTANTLY, you can't return angled serves.
I will say this, though. I do absolutely have a need for more than two buttons... it's important for Star Trek SOS and Victory, which require four. You can fudge it by making a third button a shift key, changing the functions of the other two buttons, but three is the absolute minimum for those two games.
I am just planning a build now and would really like to use this spinner in my project. So of course my question is when will it be available? I saw where you reply to someone else that you have to get the Star Wars yolk out first. So will this even be available this year?
Yes it will be 4th quarter..it will be out in 2020
SO it's gonna take forever before these come out.
Will version 3 trackball still be A1up stock and PC & pie compatible and will it be a different size.

This is some quality hardware. I love what you are doing. Is there a chance now of taking this spinner, retrofitting the metal top for a 45 degree joystick with a spinning knob to play 720, and a Y-axis up/down clicker for discs of tron on this same setup. I love this but that would be spinner nirvana. I am a person who literally bought an old Star Wars yoke and soldered it to a Microsoft Sidewinder joystick in 2004 for the same reason. Not a joke.

Glen as a new subscriber I didn't know what to expect but your videos are very thorough!! What a great spinner! I'd buy it now if I could! I do have a question on another of your toys, the GRS Trackball which unfortunately is not available in Amazon at this time. I have ordered the Arcade1Up 12 in 1 interface board and spinner. I was wondering what alternative trackball do you recommend that will work with the Arcade1up interface? Thanks!

I just installed one of these in my cabinet and I love it! Great spinner. Do you by chance have a remix of the 3D printed steering wheel that fits this spinner since the top is smaller than on the original GRS spinner?

Hey Glen, I didnt get a reply from you regarding the first spinner for the Asteroids game. Mine keeps running through the menu at high speed. Wanted to know how to fix that. I had to resort back to the original junk one that the game came with. How do I fix this problem?

I have this is my shopping cart. What would be the best drill bit to make the button holes? I don't have plexi glass just the MDF control panel.
You would just need to drill a 28 mm size standard button hole and that's it :)

Glen question, if I have the spinner and 12 in 1 interface, what happens if I plug in another spinner into the interface?
Could I assign that spinner to Player2 or would it just be emulating the first spinner?
Hi Vuts. The 12 in 1 board does support 2 devices..so if you connect 2 v2 spinners one is assigned up/down the other left/right
So just have the emu use player 1 as up/down and player 2 as left/right :)
I got this new spinner and finally got it working with Arkanoid and tempest. I put it on a vertical screen raspberry pi modded arcade 1Up. Super pumped. I love it.
Has anyone tried this with the skateboarding game ‘720 ? I don’t have that one on my card but would love to try it.

Any news on this ? I tried to order online with the only site I could find, placed the order got a delivery date of 26th of Aug then had to cancel because they could not confirm stock. I am converting my arcade1ups to Launchbox cades and your spinner is the best piece of kit in the entire build, I really want to continue to use it

I went to the Amazon link for the Tron controller but it is not in stock with no known restock. Is this something you will be producing additional pieces of?
I bought this recently with intensions of printing the steering wheel. Well the file on Thingiverse is not for this one. I'm curious if anyone has a remake for this spinner. Not sure why Glen changed the knob size with this one.

I have an Atari Arcade Fightstick controller pad. How would the game Tron work with that since I would need to use the spinner and a fightstick to play that in Mame?
Are there specific roms this spinner will work with? I just ordered this spinner to use for a vertical image build. Would I be able to set up the spinner in retroarch, or is this a plug and play device? Do I need to download a file for mame to use spinner? So far I can't get my trackball recognized on the vertical image. I have a feeling the spinner won't work either? Learning as I go here. Any info much appreciated.Thanks!
Same here. Im adding it to my pacman barcade, Raspberry pi 3b+ in it, running 800-1 image. Wondering if I gotta add the buttons or can i just program the spinner independently and use existing buttons. Adding 2 more to the 7 i already have is a bit of overkill. (Start, select, coin, with 3 buttons on top and left and right on sides for pinball games)
Can you connect 2 of these to an AtGames Gamer Pro or just one since it registers as a trackball? I would love to be able to add two of these and still have my trackball function. Is that possible for both player one and two?
I have not been able to get a Gamer pro to test to confirm.
@@GlensRetroShowIt basically works the same as a core. Have you been able to try it with a Core? I have been told that it registers as a trackball on the Core when you run the diagnostic test so I know you can use at least one of them. I was wondering whether or not you could use two of them. I'm guessing if it registers like a trackball you probably can only use one.

I have one on my RaspPi 4 machine that I built and it is quite good. I just bought a Tron stick and can't wait to get that installed. Looks great too BTW. You are really doing cools stuff for retro gaming. Thanks again Glen.
Also, what restrictor plate is best for Tron with the light cycles? Definitely not the 8 way circle, but isn't the original Tron just a straight 4 way? I think it was, but your semi restrictive 8 way is probably a nice compromise that works well with the cycles and will also works for other games too, right?
Can anyone help me with how to adjust the spinner sensitivity. Glen mentions adjusting the Mame Settings, but not sure how to find that. I have the Spinner USB mounted on my Atari Fightstick, and going into my Super Console X Pro.

Well not on the same board. This is all contained. It's a spinner that is directly USB compatible, with 2 buttons that are connected as mouse clicks left and right .. a usb trackball can be added usb separately
@@GlensRetroShow I suspected that, not a big issue, but it would make the arcade stick a bit less elegant. Still a nice, easy to use and affordable quality solution to play spinner games without lag issues, even cooler adding Wagners TT's 3D-printed wheel. Sadly it really jumps in price when adding import duties, we need an EU distributor!

Yes it's already usb compliant the raspberry pi will see it as a USB mouse as long as your emulator is set to use a game as a USB mouse it should work just fine

Hey Glen, I want to replace the joystick in my Pandora's box for an Ikari Warrior style rotating joystick. Do you sell those or have a link to someone that has an easy mod so I can play those types of "move and twist" games. Also can you make a simple video on how to install the 12 way rotary joystick?
I just got mine today and it does not spin as freely as the one shown. Did I get a defective one? Mine spins for about 10 seconds
