That kid in the second case was a damn hero. He knew something was wildly off and made sure police knew about it, too. He did so right by his mother and I'm absolutely sure she knows.

When his daddy dearest poked his head in his son's bedroom door, after the son had been awakened by a loud noise, I think his instinct to pretend he was asleep MAY have saved his life. If Boile suspected his son might have seen or heard too much, who knows but what he might have murdered him as well? Certainly, men do murder children after having murdered the wife. Remember Michael Blagg and Chris Watts? Blagg killed his wife and his little girl and of course Watts famously killed his wife and TWO little girls. So, the son very well could have saved his own life by pretending to be sleeping.

His name is Collier Landry Boyle (who was 11 at the time of the murder and was 12 when he testified against his father at the trial) . Even today Collier still wonders if his grandmother was aware of his father’s plans.

Another heartbreaking thing about the son is that his 3 yo sister was soon adopted by foster parents but they didn’t want Collier so he stayed with the detective and his wife for a while and was in and out of foster homes until he was also adopted (by a nice family). The fact that the grandmom didn’t adopt her grandkids is wild.

It’s so disgusting how you can always tell a there’s a domestic abuser in one of this show’s scenarios who describes his relationship with his estranged wife or partner as getting “so much better” after initially being “difficult,” and how, right before she disappeared, that they had also had a “very pleasant” conversation about their children in her car! I mean, it just screams murder!! Guys like that don’t know _how_ to be “pleasant.”

I guess I must be terribly naive, but I have always thought that when someone committed murder, at least his mother was unaware of what he had done. How could you let your MOTHER know you had killed someone? But watching this show startled me and made me rethink that belief because it seems like Boiles' mother very well knew or at least strongly suspected that her son was a murderer, or she would not have prevented her grandson from speaking to the detective. There are many men in my life that I love, or have loved, very much; my father, my brothers, my husband, my uncles, my nephews, my grandson, etc. but there is not a one of them for which I would be willing to cover up a murder. I would be afraid that if I were successful in my coverup and he went free, the next person he murdered might be me. Or if not me, whoever it was, if I prevented my loved one from being found guilty of a murder that I KNEW he had committed, leaving him free to roam the streets and possibly do it again, the next murder he committed would be on me. I really do not understand how a mother could live with herself knowing she had helped a murderer get away with killing someone...even if that murderer was her own son.
He maintained his innocence! Well, of course he was innocent. It's just purely bad luck that the bad old man who actually murdered her decided to bury her under the floor of the basement of Boiles' new home. I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS!

Hi there, I was wondering the same thing, so I looked up “new detectives” on Wikipedia. It’s the same show just with a different name. It seems that, it had different names in different countries - originally on TV that is. So....that’s my loooong way of saying, yes, it was on Forensic Detectives, because (as I discovered) they are the same program 🙂🐿
I’d been wondering about this for a while but I thought that they had just changed the programs title at some point.
As people on UA-cam are from all over the world, it now makes more sense....phew, that was a really long reply to your question - but I got us there in the end.🤪

I think the comment was asking if this was also covered in the show 'Forensic Files'. The answer is yes, that show covers many of the same cases. The main difference is narration, pacing, and that Forensic Files tends to interview victims, witnesses, family members, etc.

What I do not understand why didn't they Check out the Coat its self to check for D N A ?? Not one Mention of the coat being checked out ! Surely the Coat would have Hair and even D N A of the man or woman of which owned the Jacket and therefore would have been abled to have solved the Murder quickly I overlooked one thing and that was the Trainer shoes found within the Bag ! Why did they waste time to make Plaster Casts of his feet !! Why not Simply check for D N A within the shoes ? Surely something as obvious as Testing for D N A would again concluded that he was the Murderer: The investigation would have cost thousands of Dollars on the way they went about catching the Murder; Sherlock Holmes would have done a better Job
