Back in the day my grandfather had a name for himself as a Bug builder and tuner in Melbourne Australia. Loved seeing Suzie drive a propper machine.. a visceral experience.... noise, vibration, smell, wind, effort....fun!! Thank you all.
" You did very well............. for a woman!" Oh Ivan you are living dangerously me old mate lol. Love the Bugatti it's looking really good. Suzie was thrilled to do her first drive and she did do very well, for any person not used to double de clutching. It takes a lot of practice to get it right on what I assume is a straight cut gearbox.
Suzie down shifted quite well. Next time out I expect to see Ivan holding on everywhere as she does a full 'brodie' in the fields. Well Done to you All !
I must say Ivan your John is a bit of a GENIUS and Miss Susie a very important part of Shed Racing love the video thanks What an amazing group of people.
I love that you've shown warts and all. Everyone who's worked on older cars knows the feeling of having their heart broken by something failing to start, compounded by the presence of a camera. Fantastic videos.
Of course we need to acknowledge John's apprentice too.The young man's been glimpsed in a few videos and I'm sure Ivan said his name.I'm sorry young sir, but I rode too long without a helmet to give you a proper re-introduction. Well done for helping keep the fleet upon the roads.
I had a 1951 Austin A-40 that left me with good memories. I saw at the back of his workshop a car that appeared to be a green Austin Pick-up. I remembered mine. beautiful work! I'm Brazilian from Rio Grande do Sul/Porto Alegre.
Horner,Wolf, Vasseur eat your hearts out. Here come the Charletans......fantastic video that shows problem solving is not about what you can do with a keyboard. Thanks to the crew. Tiddley pooh!
Suzie seems so happy -- such a fabulous lady. I would give anything to meet both her and Ivan someday. I love looking at her reflection in the finish of the body as she operates the camera. John is a master mechanic -- rather like my grandfather who worked as a repair track foreman for the long-defunct Illinois Central railroad. This is such a lovely car!
From a retired old mechanic over in the colonies ( nova scotia ) you guys are a hoot. Suzie’s whitt is terrific. “Have you ever done this before ? John’s fabrication skills are second to none. And of course all centred around building a car for Suzie. Too bad you couldn’t find a suitable job for Ivan ! Easy to see who was holding the ol’ camera for the road test though. I had to go and take a gravol, for motion sickness! Thoroughly entertaining, and a definite Oscar is in your team’s future. A million thanks.
When I think of the time this thing was made, it boggles the mind at the engineering. People don't realize how few mechanical things there were in those days.
Maybe it's even more mind boggling that this car could be created so cohesively by some gents of advancing years in a shed using mainly 100 year old secondhand parts ?
That's such a marvelous old car. To have things like that, the Hall and Scott, and the other old beasts you have around must be a load of fun. 10 out of 10
Thanks for posting these videos up. Great work Ivan and John and of course Suzy for providing the Bugatti. It sounds great now that it is sorted and looks fantastic. Seeing it driven in anger will be the next adventure, eh?
I am sure I speak for all of your subscribers, Ivan. We love the amount of videos you are bringing to us.... The Long, the Short or the Tall.... All are welcome. How's the red mini? Track day next? Bugatti hill climb with Suzie driving? Anything is great even John mowing with the Fordson, lol. You need peelings from the roads put on your drive on a hot day, then rolled...😊😊
In the US, we use "Crush and Run", fine and medium gravel, to level our drive so drainage still happens.Allot of it is recycled concrete mixed with gravel so it's porous.
You're spoiling us! Lovely way to start a weekend - I'm hoping to see my 1933 Riley Special after Easter, and this is just what I need to get in the mood to play...
Great video. Susie seems happy. Ivan, you want to get someone in with a grader once those potholes have been filled, to give your driveway a proper crown. That way it should be good for quite a while. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿!
Great banter! 08:29 "...and we've also got TIGER SEAL!" "I'm not sure we're going to butcher that with Tiger Seal." "Well, I don't think it will do any harm." 😄🐯
This is the best entertainment for me, on any media. Congrats to you all, can’t get enough of this down under. Can’t wait for the next video. Was that a reflection of the wonderful Tania?
Another great Shed Racing video! Very entertaining and it's good to see that not everything goes perfect for your team too. I'm so happy to have met you (Susie and Ivan but unfortunately not John) at Beaulieu last autumn. Please keep up the wonderful work! Cheers from Canada!
Great stuff Ivan, John and yourself have done a great job on the Bugatti. Man, your driveway leaves a bit to be desired, it'd be a good test track for Landrover.
That was a very nice video. It was nice watching you both work out the running problems. That tank looks superb. I agree about the taillights, but maybe put one on each fender for better visibility. It was fun watching Susie drive the car. She is pretty good at it.
Very good episode! Suzie seemed very pleased with the car and all the progress you lads have made. It sure is sounding on song, even when you dropped the idle down! Cheers to all from Canada!
The plate between the tail lights and the body will fit better with the style.A 'plus' is when you don't coat the plate in mud during the next "off-road" race ;)
Another lovely Vid.. many Thanks.. What a lovely Bugatti.. though "naughty car".. that's probably the mildest epithet the Bug has ever had bestowed upon a cantankerous start ! That Facel in the background looked neat too.. You are right though Ivan.. a few loads of gravel rolled into that road would make a great difference
Books have been wrong ,on cars , this early book on the Bugatti isn’t alone. On a much more recent note I used to work on my families Fiat Panda , and the Porter book on the little Italian workhorse got the valve order wrong inlet - exhaust in his text, it was spotted by other Fiat club members too !
Classic with that fuel vacuum. Been there done that, especially with cheap Chinese breather caps that come apart every time you top up the tank for a small engine on a site tool.
Talking of The Repair Shop you should get Dom Chinea over. As you might be aware he has resurrected Ranalah and is manufacturing new wheeling machines and replacement wheel sets. Don't know how he finds the time to do all the things he does.
Loved Susie's reaction to driving the Bugatti for the first time.....she's thrilled!
"We look like failures!" 😂 "Have you boys done this before?"😂😂

Ivan likes to live dangerously

Thanks Ivan and Susan, nice driving susan!
Spot on, allways nich to see and hear from John working his magic.
I have enjoyed watching the work on this lovely car and to see Suzy drive it for the first time was a great ending.
I love that you've shown warts and all. Everyone who's worked on older cars knows the feeling of having their heart broken by something failing to start, compounded by the presence of a camera.
Fantastic videos.
If we keep getting new video's daily we will expect them all the time!! Thanks all three of you, Ivan, Susie, and John !
Of course we need to acknowledge John's apprentice too.The young man's been glimpsed in a few videos and I'm sure Ivan said his name.I'm sorry young sir, but I rode too long without a helmet to give you a proper re-introduction. Well done for helping keep the fleet upon the roads.

That engagement with driving a car ... thing we miss today.

Suzie's joy at driving her car is just wonderful. Great job team. John proving he is worth his weight in gold as ever.
Best wishes, Dean.

Imagine Susie and Ivan driving her Bugatti around incomparable Cabot Trail?

Maybe it's even more mind boggling that this car could be created so cohesively by some gents of advancing years in a shed using mainly 100 year old secondhand parts ?
WOW , it sounds so different now and is looking beautiful too well done to all , lucky lady that Suzie what a beautiful car
Really fabulous. Can really tell what a torque monster it is. Outstanding!!!
That's such a marvelous old car. To have things like that, the Hall and Scott, and the other old beasts you have around must be a load of fun.
10 out of 10
love this show it's real people , ivan's a cheeky chappie 😂😂
I spied a rare Facel Vega when Ivan came back to the yard in the Bugatti.
Treading on thin ice! Beautiful. That car is a gem.
The Bugatti is a work of art, but i still like Ivan giving the A30 a stretch. 😂
Great start to the weekend!
Wonderful stuff.
Thanks for posting these videos up. Great work Ivan and John and of course Suzy for providing the Bugatti. It sounds great now that it is sorted and looks fantastic. Seeing it driven in anger will be the next adventure, eh?
Fantastic! Your last comment would get you shot in other circles but Susie takes it all as it is, in good humour.
That is how men are supposed to talk.
Susie, you tell those two where they get off, 'washing up indeed', all taken in good heart, the good old days.
They only say it to try and get a reaction ….
That is a woman's place. The Bible is clear on that.
I am sure I speak for all of your subscribers, Ivan.

It's a real treat to hear a vintage Bugatti. Thank you so much!
Great video. Susie seems happy. Ivan, you want to get someone in with a grader once those potholes have been filled, to give your driveway a proper crown. That way it should be good for quite a while. Cheers from NZ🇳🇿!
I know little about engines, but I've been hooked on these videos. I just know that something very important is being recorded.
Susie’s a better driver than Ivan a cameraman. Her influence on the channel is subtle but it’s now twice as good. Hats off to Susie.
Great banter! 08:29 "...and we've also got TIGER SEAL!"
"I'm not sure we're going to butcher that with Tiger Seal."
"Well, I don't think it will do any harm." 😄🐯
That was a proper "shake-down" test drive. Cheers from the Iowa shed
This is the best entertainment for me, on any media. Congrats to you all, can’t get enough of this down under. Can’t wait for the next video. Was that a reflection of the wonderful Tania?
Not Bugatti related , but watching Jacques Tati in M. Hulot's holiday. It seems his car was a 1924 Salmson!
Another great Shed Racing video! Very entertaining and it's good to see that not everything goes perfect for your team too. I'm so happy to have met you (Susie and Ivan but unfortunately not John) at Beaulieu last autumn. Please keep up the wonderful work! Cheers from Canada!

Loved that. MORE!
The car is close to finished
Susie "I could give you a ride"
Ivan "I don't know what that means"
life in the old dog yet!
That Bug is so nice ! Nice shiny blue. I love it. Good job Ivan and John. The engine sounds great. Have fun susie😊... Cheers from New Zealand

Last bit was fun. Beautiful car Color.
Great job by the 3 of you making a car and a video. Brilliant!
That really sounds wonderful.

You two are two peas in a pod, great job cheers
First comment in, and Ivan working on Bugattis never gets old...
Grrrrrr. I thought I was gonna be first. DRAT.
Classic with that fuel vacuum. Been there done that, especially with cheap Chinese breather caps that come apart every time you top up the tank for a small engine on a site tool.
Absolutely lovely a great horse shoe
Great video, it's always the basics that catch you out, I've been there fuel cap with blocked vent.
Is that a Facel Vega in your yard?
Cafeful Ivan, you're treading on thin ice.😅
Perhaps paint the number plate on the boat tail ?
Fab video as always Ivan
Ordered a diamond file, from China:( ... have been sharpening up all my old large (Dormer) drill bits. THANK YOU for the tip.
You’ll have to sit on his lap Suzie! Top marks guys. 🎉
Proper quality 👍
Do I get a hint of misogyny from Ivan? Be careful, you're pushing you're luck, fella!
Great Episode :-)
I kinda like that big square number plate up high its proper old english looking. But either way will be great im sure
Spot On!
Thanks
....... for a woman ! ........... and that was the last time Ivan was ever seen alive
Thanks!
Sabotage...
We all saw John screwing the cap on tight when you were talking at the beginning 😂😂😂
With that orchestra of noise when it's running, how could you tell if you had an issue??
What a lucky girl
"Naughty Car"😁
Cool dude 😎
👍👍👍👍👍
Bit of a nasty kink in the battery lead Ivan .
Could u go over the timing issue again?
Yes Ivan. Fix your driveway mate lol !😅
Easy Start on a Bugatti - Ettore would be turning in his grave!
It wont start either😂!
Talking of The Repair Shop you should get Dom Chinea over. As you might be aware he has resurrected Ranalah and is manufacturing new wheeling machines and replacement wheel sets. Don't know how he finds the time to do all the things he does.
we met him at Beaulieu....
Thanks for the tip. I checked him out and subscribed.
So going up hill on low fuel, you will conk out quite soon. Jag type, my experience Gpx
Tiddly poo…….!
Great video as usual
Is the Far North District Council of New Zealand in charge of your potholes too Ivan?
in this video the potholes are on private land, so actually our responsibility....but the roads aren't much better
They( the roads) were never much good .Ex Doubtless Bay resident.
