      HOW TO BE SAVED:
      Repent:
      Acts 20:21
      Authorized (King James) Version
“testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.”
      2 Corinthians 7:9
"Now I rejoice, not that ye were made sorry, but that ye sorrowed to repentance: for ye were made sorry after a godly manner, that ye might receive damage by us in nothing." KJV.
      2 Corinthians 7:10
"For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death." KJV.
Understand YOU ARE A SINNER and only The Lord Jesus Christ can save you:
      Romans 3:20-26
      Authorized (King James) Version
“20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22 even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23 for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; 26 to declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.”
      Romans 3:10
"as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:" KJV.
Put your faith in the Gospel:
      1 Corinthians 15:1-4
"Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 by which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 and that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" KJV
For added assurance of salvation, call upon the name of The Lord (The Lord Jesus Christ) for salvation:
      Romans 10:8-13
"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." KJV.

Review of this video by me for future reference . Hopefully someone else finds use of it as well.
0:16 - Studies show that everybody prays, even atheists. Human beings could be characterized as the animal that prays.
    What is prayer?
1:44 - prayer is a conversation between friends (two-way as opposed to just us reaching out to God or God invoking in us a call to speak with him).
Simple recommendations by Bishop Barron to improve prayer life:
1.) Take the time 2:05 - the most important thing before improving technique etc is to make a habit of daily prayer.
2.) Find the center 3:13 - life is hectic and we jump from thought to thought, task to task, obligation to obligation. Prayer is about finding the center around which your entire life ought to revolve, ie God.
3.) To pray is to speak to God with honesty 4:18 - don’t be afraid to tell God what is truly on your mind, what’s troubling/worrying you, what makes you angry or sad etc. Talk about the messy sides of your life, we all have them. God already knows, there is no reason to hide.
4.) Listen attentively/ be silent 6:38 - it’s a conversation. Don’t do all the talking. But, often God doesn’t speak so directly to us. He’ll speak to us through the scripture, for example. Relatedly, sit in silence. Take a break from the constant stimulation and action of today’s culture. Be silent, and allow God to speak in that space. Thomas Aquinas said the will has 2 moves - to seek the good, and to rest in it. So, be silent and rest in the goodness of God during prayer.
    11:28 - Final Recommendations:
    - if you can, pray the Holy Hour (dedicated hour of prayer everyday) do it
    - prayer before the Blessed Sacrament
    - the Jesus prayer : “Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner.”

God Bless Millennials! 🙏🏻& young adults. They bare witness to all the mistakes of our ancestors. They can see through the many woes of the world around them & problems of the adults in their lives. Who wouldn’t want to avoid the traumas humanity has created? Who wouldn’t be sceptical / cynical? I totally understand where they are coming from. Love the concept of the Holy Hour. It’s what we model. This is how children learn. Do we always model love, nourishment & patience? Then we will create a world like this. Living in the fruit of the spirit. 💙

@John Louis God bless you. Learn how to listen to and hear Him, and learn how to cling to Him. Then, learn how to walk with and follow Him.
Also learn how to struggle with and against yourself for His sake. To help with that, study the Cross and really come to appreciate what Christ has done for you and every person and thing that you love.
Know what God has done for you. Anything good you can think of, He made it. Any good event in your life, He planned it on some level. Every second you are, He is right there with you, making you and loving you and yearning for you to become to the full potential that He has planned for you. God has said maybe about you so that you can say "Yes Lord!" To Him.

I was that woman, throwing the clods of dirt at the Blessed Mother. Not literally, but under the same circumstances as the woman in Bishop Barron's video. I could barely speak to her, I was so angry after my husband died. I felt that she had betrayed us, betrayed ME, who had put my husband under her mantle for protection from evil. It took a great while but I finally admitted what I was thinking and feeling about her to a friend online who told me that perphaps, just perhaps, Mary DID protect him and DID take him under her care, because he had died right after receiving the sacraments of baptisma and confirmation into the Catholic faith. "Stole Heaven," as a good sister exclaimed when I told her the story of his death. It then became clear to me that yes, Our Lady had taken care of him so much better than I had asked or anticipated.

    • @Marge137
      @Marge137 4 роки тому +7

Andy, I imagine it depends on the circumstances. Tell that person my story and see if any of it resonates with them. The point I wanted to make is that God's ways aren't our ways and this period of my life perfectly illustrated that truth. It's not that He is uncaring---but we either believe that this is not our final destination, this earthly plane, or we don't. And it really does come down to surrendering our wills, and having faith, even when we don't understand it at ALL. Jesus told us to be like little children. And how many ways does a parent tell a child who simply doesn't understand WHY they are not given everything they want, even when they think that thing is good for them? Sometimes, "Trust me. This IS for your own good" is the only answer we get. I'm not saying it is easy. But I'm believing that it is right and, ultimately, good.

@@Chaos3000and3 Andy not sure if you tried it already but I've found praying 4 Rosaries a day works almost miraculously to beat back fears and anxieties and that sinking despairing energy-less feeling one gets when confronted with ongoing painful challenges. I will literally be lying there like a dead person unable to motivate myself to move. Then as I say my Rosaries I suddenly have such a surge of energy that I literally leap out of bed and get to doing the things that need doing with a lighter, buoyant, spirit.
Dear Blessed Mother Mary Help of Christians Pray for Andy🙏🌹

One of the things that drew me to the Catholic Church was something that happened about 40 years ago in the Philippines. And in Singapore also. I wanted a quiet place to pray. I wasn't Catholic, I just wanted to pray. The only Church open was the Catholic Church. 25 years ago near the end of my Navy career I attended RCIA and became a Confirmed Catholic. Thanks in part to the "open door policy" of the Catholic Church in Asia. I didn't even realize at the time that I was praying before the Blessed Sacraments.

Thanks for pointing out the importance of silence, Bishop. When I pray at the Baptist church on Wednesday nights, we all sit around circular tables, six or so, and follow a prayer prompt, voicing our individual requests. I am amazed how often the Holy Spirit in silent is us. It is sooooo peaceful. I think most of us would agree that that's the best part.

Thank you Bishop Barron. As you were talking about Mother Teresa and how she listened in silence. Many of us complain about how busy ourlives are. I have watched a few videos where the camera follows Mother Teresa. I remember news segments from the 70's and 80's. There always seemed to be one thing that followed her everywhere. Noise. I think of the streets of the slums right outside of her cell. I think of the activity inside the wards where Sisters and Volunteers cared for the sick and the dying. It just amazes me that not only was she able to concentrate on her prayers but she found silence. That to me is a miracle.

I’m not Catholic, but I love the Bishop’s videos! In the mormon church, they scold you if you ask for too many things from God, even if it’s just for the basic needs of life, so I don’t even know what to say or ask for anymore. Can anyone share with me their approach to prayer?

My daily prayer life is random ang spontaneous. I just say whatever comes to my thoughts as though I'm talking to a friend who knows everything about me. Like, everytime I see an ambulance, I say a short prayer asking for healing and protection for the driver and passengers. Each time I come across someone on the streets I say a little prayer for their safety. Each time I need help, I simply ask God to help me. It's comforting to know that even before I say my prayers, God already knows what I need.

Thank you so much for celebrating the Mass Bishop Barron. I receive Jesus everyday before the Corona crisis. My brother would bring Him to me as I am and can't go to Mass daily but my brother does and brings Him to me. I miss Him so so much. It's painful to me. Oh I can't wait till this is over. I miss my Lord, the Divine Will. I ask the Holy Spirit to inspire me, I consecrate myself to Him daily and pray to not loose Faith, to have courageous perseverance, love for others, esp. for those who started this and that is hard. But I have to give Mercy, even to my enemy and I pray for God's Mercy on them. I don't want to condemn them or myself for lack of love. My sweet, sweet savior come back to me, I need you. Help me to live in the present moment, take away my anxiety and fear, make me strong. Be with me, I know you are there. Bishop Barron pray for me and I pray for you. Receive the Blessings of the United Hearts.❤️❤️

Thanks! Great to hear this again and now it's interesting how my perspective has shifted after this Corinavirus shelter in place and all the extra time available and how dire our situation is! What a great reminder to take ... "TheTime"... I'm praying even more intensely now at times. Thankyou for your guidance and inspiration! After all these years I've finally decided to finish my Catechism as a Candadate the intensity of being held back even longer is interesting...sad yet also has intensified the learning and it's also strange that now everyone is forced to recieve the Eucharist Spiritually. I've always prayed throughout my life and now even more. It's strange how sometimes when in shock at times it's easy to get lost in fear and worry and forget to {(take the time)} to pray or relax and meditate {(With God)}🕊 but when I do everything's much better and I can function better and sometimes great realizations emerge.

You strike straight into a person's acceptance, what is it in you that you are able to impart....treasure it Bishop Barron, you have been endowed....I guess you do it so silently without effort but with a smile and a natural soft manner. Many thanks Bishop Barron. God be near you always!!🤗😑...What I have discovered is that, for some people prayer comes so spontaneously, they have expression, at the same time they are visibly so humble. I guess I was brought up with too much rote praying, that I have not cultivated this lovely 'union' with God through prayef. I often tell Jesus about my disability, and ask Him to give me the grace for honest and clear expressiion of prayer. Thank you much Bishop, God be near you, always.

Mr. Gruffyd, the Walter Pidgeon character in "How Green Was my Valley," told Huw Morgan, played by Roddy McDowall, "Prayer is only another name for good, clean, direct thinking. When you pray, think." In my opinion, the most meaningful line from a great film.

I truly recommend all the steps enumerated by Bishop Barron to improve one's prayer life. But when I was a newbie, I actually started with "formula prayers" which one can find in prayer books. They are also helpful in teaching us "other concerns" which we may fail to see. But a "SINCERE TALK WITH GOD" tops it all. God bless you Bishop and your ministry...

Dear Bishop , good reflection on prayer, especially before blessed sacrament , one more thing I would humbly add to your recommendations is to pray with tears, or to say , not to be ashamed of crying . We do see a child in all it's innnocense shed tears infront of its father and mother to ask or demand something, and St. Augustine says it as a gift of Holy Spirit. So it is not always easy to cry but when we feel like weeping it is not correct to feel ashamed not to weep, and we have to think it as a gift of Holy Spirit.
