For the record, my grandfather, a young student at the time, was forcibly taken by the Japanese to be a carrier before bravely escaping and joining forces with the Australians, where he served as a scout. Furthermore, many of my forefathers during that era were educated individuals who collaborated with early colonial settlers. Biden's comment not only lacks respect but also diminishes the sacrifices and heroism of those who fought against tyranny and oppression.

My father REALLY DID fight in New Guinea for 2 and 1/2 yrs. No cannibals ate him. Because after we liberated New Guinea, my father was part of the force that invaded the Philippines, and he stayed until it was liberated. Then with MacArthur he invaded Japan.
