A mellow day in June splitboarding Ruth Mountain in the North Cascades

There’s no doubt the North Cascades are a special place. To ride here year round requires grit, motivation, and dedication. When these things combine the rewards are great! From big lines in the alpine to cruiser runs on moderate classics like this one last week.

If you’ve hung up the boards for the winter remember to slather a storage wax on those bases & take the batteries out of your beacon.

For the alpinists in the Cascades keep that avalanche rescue gear on through at least the end of the month. Our unique spring has created unique avalanche danger. This is a real and varied hazard that is difficult to anticipate through 7,000’ + of elevation change.
