You know what's weird is that I know this game was extremely popular but not a single one of my IRL friends ever used it and most of them had never even heard of it. This game was so much of my childhood this is so nostalgic
I remember in elementary school playing these games like Barbie Girl online, Roblox, Zwinkies, Fantage, TinierMe, and Build-A-Bear in 2008. Back then, most kids, I figure, did not commonly use the internet the way our current Pandemic kind of pushed people to do. I remember kids and friends in my neighborhood playing outside, killing their time the way kids do before smartphones (specifical iPhones) entered the mainstream. On rare occasions that I would be out, I'd watch these kids bike, talk about their lives, chalk their pavements, and I'd join in some of their fantastical roleplay games/world-building. However, when I was stuck at home. My dad's laptop was a window into an entire world where I was eager to make connections with people. These games were definitely a way for me to escape the life I was living at home because there was nothing to do, and I wasn't really allowed to go outside, so at home, I discovered Vocaloid, anime, and these online games. I believe a handful of us kids had split experiences in the late 2000s-early 2010 before the time of the iPhone. This was probably the experience commonly for kids who had more unregulated access to the internet
I remember that daily quiz that gave you 100 weird coins if you checked everything off for being a good citizen and being sporty and helpful and such. I never did any of the things on it, and I felt like such a rebel checking off all the boxes just to get the coins.
omg I don’t think I knew you could lie so I never got the coins and I don’t think I even knew you got coins😂 I would just feel bad that I didn’t do everything
This game holds a very beary special place in my heart. I remember coming home from school and logging on just to play it. I remember at Christmas time they had Bearville looking all nice for the holidays. I remember Camp Happy Heart. I remember trading items with people. I remember it all like it was yesterday. Bearville will hold a special place in my heart as one of my favorite online games. I still have my very first Build A Bear, a High School Musical bear my dad had got me. I was probably 10 years old or so. Now, I am 17 years old and I still have that Build A Bear. My second Build A Bear I had gotten was a Beremy. I had gotten him a cool outfit and such. Sadly I had lost him My third Build A Bear is a World Wildlife Fund leopard. My fourth Build A Bear is a One Direction bear (sadly they split up tho). I miss you Bearville... 2009-2015 Sincerely, GabriellaAdorable898.
the kids of today are missing out big time. when i was 9/10 the best thing ever was coming home to play this game, and i used to spend all my pocket money on bears just for it :/ i actually miss it so much
@@noorandlena6333 webkinz is a good alternative but they no longer sell toys with codes :( animal jam is also a good alternative but there's no toy involvement.

I remember spending 30 minutes on it first thing before school and then 2-3 hours every night until I was forced off my computer... rest in peace build a bearville
omg im commenting a year later but the DRAMA!!! you have me reminiscing lol. i remember i had a whole group of friends on there and we would legit log on and hang out for hours. i always got into it with this girl in our group named MaddieSassy or MaddieSpicy because she had red hair and all the boys loved her lmao. Oh my goshhhhh memories !
omg i remember i was a stupid 9 year old and i gave this girl my password to log into my account and steal one of my items! it was those brown bear slippers that were kinda rare. my mom had emailed and called the build a bear headquarters for me lol
People are currently making "Bearville Rewritten" like ToonTown rewritten!!! So excited!!! I was a Bearville member from 2008 to the very last day in 2015 and it was my everything. I didn't have friends during my teenage years, so _this was literally my life._ From the second I got home from school until the second I went to bed it was all I did. I'm really happy now with life, but once Bearville Rewritten is done I'll probably be back on it most days! It was an amazing website and felt like I could escape to another world when real life wasn't so good. Bearville will _always_ have a place in my heart. ❤️
I’m honesty really upset this game got shut down :( the art is charming and there was plenty of good mini games. This took up a STUPID amount of my childhood lol
I am too. I don't even fully understand why-- it was one of the ones doing pretty well too. Not to mention it encouraged people to buy more Build a Bears??
wowowow i miss this so much 😭😭 i used to log on every day, throw stuff in the fountain, buy some clothes, play hide and seek, fish, listen to that cheesy music, watch all those "celebrity guests", do fashion shows in the theatre, serve coffee in the coffee shop, glide around on those stupid wing things i had to buy with a credit. I MISS IT SM
Revisiting this 4 years later in August 2019. I have lots of memories of this game. From having a mansion to being a cyber guide. I also have memories of going to the North pole for Christmas every year, and that Camp Happy Heart thing that they would do every year. I remember the secret places like the coffee shop rooftop and the treehouse. I also had a lot of build a bears, I remember being so excited to go home to register my build a bear into my account whenever I was allowed to make a bear. Then the day I found out bearville closed came (oh boy). At that point I haven't played that game for so long, so I had no idea it closed down. In fact, I didn't know that it was closing down on the first place. And let's just say that when I found out it closed down, I was pissed.
i remember playing this when internet wasn't something that everybody had, and i used to go to the local library and play it after checking out my books while my parents were browsing, or sometimes my dad, who was friends with the librarians, would leave me there to go pick something up and then come pick me up around an hour later, and it was such a magical time in my life. rest in peace brownsugarbaby, my first build a bear i put into the site, whom recently got burnt in an electrical fire in my room.
This brings back so many memories. When I was 8, I got my first build a bear. The second one I got, the blue bear with peace signs on it, is the one I first registered onto the game. Since then, I added every single bear I bought, excited to see what kind of cool things I would do with that bear, the pictures I'd take at the photo booth, the customization I'd do to them, etc. everyday after school, I'd be so excited to go home and log on and see what games I'd play, what people I'd meet, and how much happiness I'd gain that day. I think my favorite time of year in the game was Christmas time and Camp Happy Heart, I believe it was called. and I loved the cafe and gym places. sadly, a few years before the game closed down, I stopped playing. it wasn't until about a year ago that I tried checking in on the game, and I was so upset to find out it was closed. I'm now 14, and there are some bears I still own today that I just can't let go of. This game was my peace, love, and happiness. Closed or not, it'll always have a place in my heart. -CaileyAdventureBear391 💜
Honestly, my biggest regret is not having any Pixie Hollow videos. I vaguely recall recording it or trying to, but I have no idea what happened with that. I need to like search my old hard drives or something. Of those, it was probably my favorite :/ Even if some things about it really bugged me, but I loved the kind of gameplay features it had and nothing else has really done it.
i remember when i found out that bearville was closing. so i was in florida visiting my grandparents and so we went to build-a-bear workshop. i looked on the birth certificate and there wasn't the usual ID to enter into bearville. so my mom called and they told her that it was shutting down. i fucking lost it.
This is so random, but I found this video on accident and decided to watch it since I was an avid build-a-bear player back in the day. Coincidentally enough, my character happened to be seen in this same video. I dont know if just pure luck or whatever, but Im really glad I got to see my character and virtual build-a-bear one last time. It brought back many joyful memories, so thank you! P.s. if you were wondering, my character appeared at 11:37 (yes I was extremely extra as a child a decided it was fashionable to ride an ostrich lol)
Does anyone know of this being brought back by fans at all like CP was? I've heard whispers of it on Reddit and similar over the years and wondered if anything ever came of it. I'm a grown ass adult sat here prepared to dedicate my life to this game just like I did as a kid. Nostalgia
I remember looking up bear codes for this game and typing them into the game just so I could unlock those featured rooms for your house. They had like a disco theme room and stuff and I completely cheated the system.
i’ve been looking everywhere for a video on this... a lot of my friends never played when they were younger and simply don’t know.... this was gold !!!!
I loved this online game. I wanted to know why they took it down because to me, that was the best part of building a furry friend, you can go on adventures in the virtual world 😔😔😔
Why did they have to crush this amazing world into oblivion? This place was my childhood and recently I decided to go back and see this place today only to find out it has been 3 and a half years since this place was swallowed by nothingness
BROO!! me and my sister used to BEGG for a build a bear. then, after a month in, we finally got it. after that, i COULD NOT stop playing. we had to share a computer... i didn’t let her get on. my mom had to convince me to get off. i had a big ass condo, a lot of clothes, and a few bears. i also ALWAYS used to play cody simpson. i absolutely loved that song. i want this time back. times were so simple. kids these days will never understand. sigh.
I was always jealous of everyone who had a bear ! Mine were always thrifted so I never got a code but I still had fun on the site regardless especially during Christmas
Oh my god watching this makes me so happy. I wish they brought back the game it made my childhood. I love when the game changed to the Christmas update and Halloween. Nothing made happier then being able to log into the game everyday and get all these free items for my condo. I’m so sad now :( I’m 17 and the fact that this game is gone hits me so hard just really unexpectedly. It was the best
i stopped playing regularly when i entered middle school, in 2014 and i regret that so much. i sometimes get pissed that i can't play it anymore even though i'm 15. ughhhh i have to stick with the ones that either got remade by fans like club penguin online, toon town rewritten, and pirates rewritten, or the one site from my childhood that stayed open, neopets. i miss buildabearville so much
My gosh I wish this was still around! I remember my sister buying my first BB toy for my 12th birthday and then I used to play this game non stop ! I’m 18 now and I wish I could go back in time.
my favorite childhood game...i'll never forget the happiness and joy it brought! i loved dressing up my pink bear and playing games to earn bear bills :(
also, my password has even been the same as it was when I changed it in buildabear in 2009-10. I mean for every account, youtube, twitter, school, etc. i’ve never changed it once and if i did, i had no choice but it will always be the one i picked first
this game was my EVERYTHING, i still have all my bears irl, can name every one, they have their own families and everything ;-; used to play this soooo much, switched to animal jam after it shut down - AndreaArtistBear :(
its so sad to think about all the online websites I used to play that got taken down :( I swear my age group was the last age group that acted their age and played all these games. Now kids are on insta and shit tryin to grow up so fast
I remember playing this game when I was like 7. I pretty much grew up with build a bear, and still have three toys from the workshop. I even remember the time I had my birthday at build a bear. I miss my childhood so much
I miss this so much. They need to bring it back, but it won’t be the same because all the cringey kids are gonna have a part of this. So.... let’s just be glad WE experienced this lol
@@JennieMSprouse There actually has been a group of people working on Bearville Rewritten since about 2020! They have videos on UA-cam and also a discord talking about it😄
I remember a good while back I wanted to come back to this game and check on my character just to find out it had shut down. This was definitely a piece of my childhood and it hits me right in my nostalgia feels.
I was so sad to discover they had taken it down. I wish they could bring it back, I bet if we all made the effort to email or call they would bring it back!
The thought of knowing my bears on there are just.. there without anyone playing makes me sad. I know they are just code but to me it still breaks my heart

i would do anything to just play this game one more time. i miss the hours & hours of time i spent on this game, i still remember signing up for the first time in 2008 when i got my very first build a bear, Gabriella & i were inseparable. ZoeyBlack954 will always be a big part of me i’ll never forget.
I’m not sure what type of kid I was, but my favorite part was the bank. I would always keep money in my savings and then get my interest. At one point I put money in the bank for a year..and I never got my interest because I didn’t play. I wish I could go back :((
OMG this brought back so many memories especially when id go to the coffee shop there and go to the secret place on the roof and act all mysterious in the corner wearing all black
I remember the game glitched while I was playing the baseball game and so it kept adding more coins. I let it run the whole day and then became a millionaire lol
Bro that sucks, Build a bear is still popular, so, they could of kept this alive, y'know, going the same way Webkinz did by putting a new coat of paint on it. rest in peace Bearville.

my favorite childhood game...i'll never forget the happiness and joy it brought! i loved dressing up my pink bear and playing games to earn bear bills :(
also, my password has even been the same as it was when I changed it in buildabear in 2009-10. I mean for every account, youtube, twitter, school, etc. i’ve never changed it once and if i did, i had no choice but it will always be the one i picked first
Wow… just walked past a build a bear and all of these memories flooded back from when I used to play this over a decade ago
this game was my EVERYTHING, i still have all my bears irl, can name every one, they have their own families and everything ;-; used to play this soooo much, switched to animal jam after it shut down
- AndreaArtistBear :(
its so sad to think about all the online websites I used to play that got taken down :( I swear my age group was the last age group that acted their age and played all these games. Now kids are on insta and shit tryin to grow up so fast
I remember playing this game when I was like 7. I pretty much grew up with build a bear, and still have three toys from the workshop. I even remember the time I had my birthday at build a bear. I miss my childhood so much
I REMEMBER THE ZOO and of course the whole game lol but the zoo!
I miss this so much. They need to bring it back, but it won’t be the same because all the cringey kids are gonna have a part of this. So.... let’s just be glad WE experienced this lol
I’ve collected about 30 build a bears for this and I do not regret it
i used to play this game as a kid i had fun, made friends and it was just a big part of my childhood. i will miss this game
Watching with my sister! We LOVED this game and stayed up all night playing together. This brings back so many memories!!
Me and my sister would also stay up all night playing this game, eating snacks and giggling. I would pay money to play this game again.
Does anyone want Build a Bearville to come back like Club Penguin??
THAT WOULD BE SO AWESOME
I know I was thinking the same thing, a bunch of adults coded it that’s why it got our back on
@@JennieMSprouse There actually has been a group of people working on Bearville Rewritten since about 2020!
I wish they could bring it back, I bet if we all made the effort to email or call they would bring it back!
petition to bring bearville back ------>
I’m having so many flashbacks, like how I set up a farmers market in my dining room and sold baskets of fruits I grew to my visitors :,)
samee
dang what if at one point we sold fruit to each other 😳
TofuTeo can u give me an invite link?
I’m literally crying this game was my childhood!!!
The thought of knowing my bears on there are just.. there without anyone playing makes me sad. I know they are just code but to me it still breaks my heart
The nostalgia is hitting hard rn
the things i'd do to play this game again
oml this was my favorite game. i had so many bears and random items that i was obsessed with. i had so many friends and went on many bearville forums like bearville city, bearville boulevard, etc. i was leelaballerina4
I remember scamming so many kids in the trading section on there. RIP to a massive part of my childhood.
i would do anything to just play this game one more time. i miss the hours & hours of time i spent on this game, i still remember signing up for the first time in 2008 when i got my very first build a bear, Gabriella & i were inseparable. ZoeyBlack954 will always be a big part of me i’ll never forget.
Yeah this game randomly came back in my memories today. I used to beg my mom to let me play for hours with my friends when I was younger.
Bearville Rewritten is a restoration project of this game! They just released a mac build of it!
There is a Bearville Rewritten coming!
I loved bearville sm 😭 it was a great game and I spent years playing it. #bringitback
This was the best game of my childhood, what a memories 🥺
I’m not sure what type of kid I was, but my favorite part was the bank. I would always keep money in my savings and then get my interest. At one point I put money in the bank for a year..and I never got my interest because I didn’t play. I wish I could go back :((
my childhood is quaking
Good memories.. made me think of my friend who passed away. Rest In Peace Karina. This was our favorite game when it came out
February in 2019, I'm revisiting my childhood.fjdhkfhsfhdsfsd oh my god nostalgia here i come
OMG this brought back so many memories especially when id go to the coffee shop there and go to the secret place on the roof and act all mysterious in the corner wearing all black
I think i would actually cry if the rewritten is ever finished
I remember the game glitched while I was playing the baseball game and so it kept adding more coins. I let it run the whole day and then became a millionaire lol
is it sad im 19 and remember my account login from like when I was 8? havent logged in since I was probably 9 but still remember it!
I didn't waste enough time on this game ... :(
It's not wasted if you enjoyed it :)
This and Club penguin was basically my childhood.
This brings back so many wonderful memories, thank you
this game was how i bonded with my cousins who lived halfway across the world- and we still have our build-a-bears with us
Before i even registered my bears in my account i would visit peoples house and act like it was mine
dude this is so nostalgic, i was so young when i played this and i was really sad when i recently remembered it and found out it shut down :(
Bro that sucks, Build a bear is still popular, so, they could of kept this alive, y'know, going the same way Webkinz did by putting a new coat of paint on it.
rest in peace Bearville.
