- Mercury Astronaut Wally Schirra tests pressure suits in this archival footage taken from the rocket.aero DVD "Little Joe: Mercury's First Steps." For more information visit: www.rocket.aero
I would have put on his lap a aluminum doctor tray and put in some foil wrapped potatoes some brats and some dinner rolls and that way you'd have lunch for the ASTRO subject and the lab staff when the test was over......
Looks like Alan Shepard (last half of video) to me. Also, Amazingly dumb to be smoking a cigar around pure oxygen (green cylinder). We would have lost Alan Shepard, but the Apollo 1 fire might never have happened from lessons learned about pure oxygen, and sparks. Seeing that cigar just blows my mind.
It appears to me that the suit is only receiving compressed air, for cooling/inflation purposes when the smoking is going on. The regulator on the floor appears to be coupled to a compressed air hose.
You do realize that pure oxygen would burn the cigar faster, not blow anything up, right? Think of the combustion triangle.
@@richardgardner4252 It would but why tempt fate?
That guy in the silver suit (02:07) was Wally Schirra.
Yes I saw the actual congressional hearing and the one on from earth to moon mini series where the contractor says they begged them NOT to test at pure oxygen at high pressure. I don't think we humans can breath 100 % pure o2 or do so all the time.
No continues of video of them depressing the room. Smh
Because it simply cannot be done..
@@tagsdaddylol nonsense. 😂 it can be done, there are numerous examples of this. NASA still does manned and unmanned vacuum chamber testing.
And the beginning of this video tells you that it’s “EXERPTED” from somewhere else. You want them to show you repressurizjng the room so you can say it’s not fake right? Bro we know your kind, you’ll make an excuse for anything.
