It’s been my favorite go to beer after a long day at work for the past 5 years. Goose Island did a great job on this one. I usually buy the six packs of it, & about 4 of these puts me to bed! I saw that you had another updated video on it & watched both of them.
@ thanks! I teach college history. I hope you have been doing well in LOUISIANA! I am from NC & I love y’all’s alligator gumbo, the jambalaya too. In NC we are known for our eastern style BBQ, tobacco, & furniture. Have you ever thought about doing videos on the histories of breweries and distilleries with your friends that come on livestream? Not many people have written about the breweries and distilleries, at least in my opinion they are not as thorough and intelligent as you are. Beer is ancient as you know, it has a long history, and I it’s a history well worth celebrating my friend. I wish you well. And always, cheers! And yes, I like your assessments! LOL thank you for replying to your followers, it shows dedication, a great character trait to have. Thanks, Ronald. My name is Clark. Thanks 4 the vids!
@@ProfessorHarney Thanks, Clark, and I have not really considered doing such videos. Well, you can join us on FB in my group, Alcohol Legs. You're welcome!
It was definitely tropical for me. I was surprised that it was a Goode Island as I hadn't seen that series before. I came across it on Marco Island, FL the first time. Imagine my surprise when I came home and it was in Pennsylvania! Glad you got to try it.
I don't know how to describe it, I presume it's what you describe as "fleshy" but there's something nasty to me about the Beer Hugs. They have an underlying taste theme throughout the lineup like the Voodoo Rangers but instead of pretty good, it's a thing I hate. To me, Voodoo ranger's style regardless of the beer has a very thick, dry malt liquor aftertaste but Beer Hugs have an overriding, front to back kind of frozen milk taste corrupting the flavor to my palate so that I can't appreciate any other qualities they may have. They contain wheat but there is something else that doesn't jive with me and I am ignorant to what it is. I had a few Beer Hugs through a discounted craft beer sampler and wanted to give a fresh 12 pack a fair shake as it's about as cheap as macro craft gets but I hate every one of them, unfortunately.
I like and trust your reviews. I'm drinking this right now and am in total agreement....my version is the 12 oz. can. I will say I'm not tasting the 9.9 % ABV.
I kinda relapsed tonight on some of this. Having not had beer and especially craft beers in a while I definately feel you on the bitterness and "meatyness," prob would have enjoyed the Deschutes fresh squeezed iPa but needed a hug lol
I love this beer. Its 4.89 for 2 here in Missouri. I rate this above the goose island IPA. Not recommended if your draft beer fan. It foams hard-core. If you crack the tab its much easier to drink because it allows for air and the flow of drinking from a can. I'm pretty sure only Casey's General store sells theses... from my experience.
I drink this on a hot summers afternoon. It's fruity, hoppy, and leaves you relatively refreshed. It just suck the price has gone up on it as it's currently $10 for a six pack of 12oz cans. Still good stuff, though. Good review as well! 🍻
Very valid point about the badge. Social media, to quote Newton Minnow, is a "vast wasteland". He was referring to TV, but the point stands. My Facebook presence was limited to 2008. Haven't been back since. I think I registered with Instagram and Twitter, but the latter is the only thing I credit with any usefulness. Some folks, however, consider UA-cam a social media. I'm not sure about that. I'm back on the 22-ounce Guinness Extra Stout. A truly impressive brew each and every time. A genuine Hall of Fame beer, possibly the Babe Ruth of dark brews! Or maybe the Aaron Rogers of dark brews...
Yes it does have a perfume weirdness, i do not know, where that comes from. I seem to like this, had many cans. A great last beer of the night. One store, has cans for $2.39.
If its only in 19.2 oz cans no wonder its harder to find. Seems like a weird strategy to only sell it in that format but what do I know. It will probably be in the cooler right next to a bunch of macro AAL cans so its not gonna stick out and get noticed.
This isn't really that bad of a IPA for being on the lower end of the scale. It's not super dooper hoppy like I usually enjoy but much better than voodoo ranger
Interesting brew & review, have never seen this one before. I think Goose Island is OK but instead of pushing Goose IPA so hard I wish they kept their commitment and interest in CBA/Craft Brewers Alliance and namely Redbox to which they had a partnership. I might be in minority but I’d far rather have Red Hook Longhammer IPA than the Goose but I can’t even find it anymore.
Me too - big time. Until a year and change ago could get 12 packs at Food Lion supermarket (NC-VA area chain and I’d buy a couple a year. Lots of people talked bad about it but I’m a fan- tastes great and easy drinking. Even Total Wine - I asked said they can’t special order it either. And on my original comment when I said “I wish they kept their commitment” to CBA - talking about AB of course. But as soon as they purchased their own craft portfolio- guess no interest to help distribute the others guys which I think they used to do for CBA

Did you agree with my assessments? Thanks for watching, Professor Harney. I appreciate it!

Very bitter but still a good flavor. It's very good when ICE COLD.❤ Great review thanks.
You're welcome, and thanks for watching, Deconicci. I appreciate it!

I was glad, too, and I found the new Beer Hug 4-type variety pack, yesterday! 3 beers of 4 flavors, each. Hazy, Tropical, Neon, and Secret #1.

I've had good experiences with the "Hug" IPAs, but I had very fresh cans.
This beer is lovely. Very appropriate name as well with how boozy this one is you really do feel "hugged" by the beer. 🐻
Yes, very hugged, ha-ha.
This is literally me lol awesome vid. I once drank 3 19.2’s.
Ha-ha. That's too much to drink. Well, maybe okay over a three-day period. Thanks for watching, Austin Davenport. I appreciate it.
I need a Tropical Beer Hug right about now. 🌴🍺🤗
I hope you can find it!
Wow he got drunk quick
It's a strong item! Thanks for watching, KEITH VENTRESS. I appreciate it!
10 abv almost it has you lit

I wish it would show up in Louisiana. Thanks for watching, Bryan Ross. I appreciate it!
I live in NC, they are usually 2 for 5, they have a whole line of Beer Hug IPA's, the best one IMO is the 7 abv Neon Beer Hug.

Yeah, this inflation stinks. Thanks! I appreciate you watching, John Doe!
$12 in my area. Still worth it. I'm a heavy drinker and one six pack will do me well if I need to pick something up after work
It's not bad. I give it a 8.5 out of 10.
That's fair.
@@ronaldtheriot Not gonna lie the more I drink this the more I like it. Lol I've been drinking em the past few days.
On the hunt for this one. CHEERS!!!
I was glad that I stumbled upon it. Cheers, back to you!
It’s like 3$ where I’m from. But there’s no taxes.
Ah, that makes a difference. Thanks for watching, TraeMund. I appreciate it!
Not that bad on price for a 19.2 oz 9.9 ABV IPA. I like this beer. 🍻

YT is a social media, because we can interact on it.

I have the same thinking that you do, on this.
Johnson City? Did you set foot in Bristol, VA?
No, but I drove past it on Interstate Hwy. 81, driving north, then driving south.
I've had a can with just the top half of the bear. It was blue and pink and it's call beer hug. Taste like shit
I'm sorry to hear that. Thanks for watching, Handz. I appreciate it!
9.9 wooo wee 🤠
Fo' sho'! Thanks for watching, Josh Moreno. I appreciate it!

I consider it to be a winner. And, I've never seen it in Louisiana, either.
Made the mistake of drinking 4 Sparklepuff IPAs last night. Very pretty beer but boy is that triple unforgiving ☠️💀
Dry hoops don’t sit with you , sweet beers don’t sit with me it’s a me problem I totally respect that lol 😆 💯🙌🏻
Yes, dry hoops.

Taste like a grapefruit to me.
Interesting. Thanks for watching, Mekwa Dawson. I appreciate it!
I had this and compared to what Goose Island usually has and I liked it. Much better than that overrated Ipa they make.
I was really pleased with it, and I don't understand why they're not selling it in Louisiana.
