Most detailed review I've seen with X13 Flow + XG Mobile and easy to comprehend, specially with Benchmarking! Looking forward to your future laptop reviews Joseph.
Thank you! Working on one now!
I got the flow x13 without the xg mobile and I'm loving it so far. On silent mode, it's actually silent and I can easily browse the internet and edit documents, etc. On performance, if I've not got it in tent mode, the only issue is that the middle heat vent blows hot air right on the screen, which isn't good, though that's not an issue in silent mode. Also, if you've got the laptop set on a table (in normal laptop mode) on performance, then the fans will get quite loud because the ventilation isn't great under the laptop, so if you haven't got a stand or something, Asus has given the cardboard you can make into a stand in the box, so use that. Though if the laptop is not plugged in and not connected to anything (i.e. just being used as an ultrabook), just set it on silent and you'll have the best battery life and silent experience without noticing a significant drop in performance.
Thanks for the great feedback!
I am going to buy it, how is the pen? is it good?
the best review of this laptop i have seen so far. good job!
Thank you!
Excellent Review. Hope your channel grows bigger
Thank you!
Hands down best review, and it's not even close. Awesome 👌
Thank you!
thanks alot man you cleared my doubts and i am buying it !!! great explaination
Thank you!
This was a very informative video! Thank you very much! I think I've almost made my decision.
Thank you. It is a hard decision :)
@@JosephKim the only thing I have to consider right now is the RAM. If I want this laptop with 32 GB of RAM, it's much more expensive. I'm planning to use this laptop for at least 3 years but without the XG Mobile for a few months.
The keyboard tping sound remins me of a 2010 Lnovo Thinkkpad external keboard. The sound is ver satisfying. Solid content JK, thank you man. Have a great weekend.
Thank you!
great review!
Thank you!
thank u for a good review
Thank you!
I just picked up the flow x13 for 800 us dollars from best buy I got it as an open-box product and it did not come with an OEM charger I just ordered an OEM charger and I am surprised by its compact size it runs well and exceeded my expectations with a retail price of 1,500 I saved a lot of money and got an awesome laptop
Nice! Always good to find those bargains.
Having a gaming desktop replacement machine with only 1tb capacity is a hard pill to swallow. The xg mobile certainly is overpriced for what it offers as well and I don't think we can put the blame solely on the new tech tax considering you can get full gaming laptops with very respectable specs for around that price.
Still that is a concept that I really want to succeed. Maybe with the rise of mobile gaming apus we will see full size ssds in more machines like this but right now the g14 still takes the crown for me.
I wish that other models would also adopt the xg connector or that asus would bring it to other models or even allow custom pci express mounts
You but it used for less than $800. Nothing beats that. 1tb is plenty for any gamer. This is a 13" laptop, not a tower PC.
@@common_c3nts It can only fit 10 modern games or less with 1tb lol.
But you can always use an external nvme if storage is an issue
I was considering to buy that eGPU few months ago, but the problem with it is the proprietary Asus connector which works only with their laptops.
Hopefully someone will design similar idea but with USB5/TB5 connection.
True!
Did you ever get a response from Asus as regards the touchpad tapping sound?
Nope. It probably is QC.
hi kim, venturing into architecture and do you think the x13 would be good for me?
It was a solid choice. Not sure how it compares with current lineup.
alright thank you for your feedback
hey kim, found this laptop but the specs are
gtx 1650
should i still go for this? since it’s within my budget?
that GPU probably will struggle for most of the graphics tasks.
@@JosephKim alright then
thanks 🙏🏽
So if I use it for web development, java development and data base tasks it should give me a solid battery life? Right?
I'd think so.
I'm on the fence about this machine vs the flow x16. Crappy webcam and the 299 mm size just seems a bit too small. On the other hand the 16 is slightly large for me, especially if you're planning to use it as a tablet. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the x16 also doesn't come with the eGPU nor a fingerprint reader? I wish they made something somewhere in between the 13 and 16, with a 1080p webcam and all the bells and whistles! I don't wanna cheap out, but I expect perfection for 3500 bucks.
I can't tell you for sure as I've not had x16. X13 does not come with eGPU and you need to buy separate too. 16" laptops these days are in 15" laptop sizes of the past as they thinned out bezels a lot. But I find anything bigger than 13" too big for tablet. I have never needed 1080 Webcam. I also can live without fingerprint sensor. :)
The x16 can be used with the egpu, but frankly it's not worth the price if u get the x16 with a 3070ti, and maybe even the 3060 since the difference in performance u get does not add up to the price u pay (u can still most definitely use it if u have the money tho)
But I am on the same boat as u, I wish the flow x16 was 14 inches maybe, and therefore considerably lighter while still slightly larger than the small 13 inch device, and having enough power (say maybe an rtx 3070) so that I don't always have to use the xg mobile while still having the 2 in 1 form factor. The flow x13 externally Is a little dated in design, with a tiny touchpad, meh webcam, and no windows facial recognition, but I value the portability, weight, and ease of use of the x13 to be more worthwhile, despite the sacrifices
Thanks for your suggestion@@s_seiya5987
I passed on X13 because of the 2230 SSD limitation. 1 TB or 1.5TB if you get engineering samples at the time of writing. I did pick up the Z13 because that has a micro-sd slot and supports Thunderbolt but eGPU performance sucks.
Looking forward Flow Z13 review
😂Don't have it!
What are the thermals with and without the dock?
Sorry, I did not compare the temps specifically. But it should be much cooler with the dock.
@@JosephKim tyvm
Joseph can u help me with this how can I get the XG mobile???
I understand it is somewhat tricky. And the availability differs depending on the region.
Isn’t the 2022 x13 bundled with a Radeon XG Mobile instead of RTX?
I think so. Although not certain.
U can choose if u want to get the amd card instead of Nvidia rtx I think, or at least u can buy either separately and both work. But my retailers are bundling with the rtx 3080, likely because the AMD GPU is not nearly as readily available atm
Is xg mobile gpu amd 6850 compatible with any xflow 13(2021) edition?
I think it would, but please check with Asus.
I find it really disappointing that the flow 13 or z13 don't come with XG Mobile their sold separately but their not even available to be sold separately. its pointless unless you have the XG mobile. I am thinking of razer blade 14 or rog zephyrus m16 3080 ti i9 but I need the flow or z13 because that its a tablet since now its common for people to buy computer/tablets
It sure was a bit mixed message. I do like the idea of eGPU. This method seems a bit too limiting.
@@JosephKim what I mean't to say is the XG Mobile is mention to be sold separately. that is unfortunate
since ASUS only has that availability online for USA not internationally. I find it inconclusive not to even restock the 3080 XG Mobile at least. I live in Australia and considering the Rog z13 i9 3050ti tablet but its a let down to pay $3000 when the XG not even available.
I have seen game machine run 4 to 5k. While expensive I don't see 3k out of line.
True. I just see desktops as better investment for longevity.
Sadly u can not buy this in Germany below 1500 Euros...
Ah, sorry to hear that.
Glossy screen, no numberpad built into the touchpad
Just can't be perfect :/
Hey mate do you still have the XG Mobile? I just thinking to buy the 6850 to use it both with X13 and my Asus Rog Ally is a good buy for this this year?
Unfortunately, I return device back to them after the review. I didn't know Ally works with XG Mobile. I specifically need Nvidia GPUs for my work, so not sure how 6850 would perform.
