- Lars Ulrich has explained why Metallica were the biggest thrash metal act. Hamburg, Germany on March 23rd.
29:40 This guy was not the winner, but he was a huge Metallica fan and pretended to be the winner just to get a hug from Lars.

I always admired his confidence
Lars has such an amazing personality!
regardless being a horrible drummer, yeah
Lars, my idol
the most underrated drummer
Yes. He's a solid, excellent, underrated drummer, for sure. Nice guy too.
I admire his business smarts!
Excellent! I love his interviews
A second choice name: Red Vette!!! My lord, I’m glad they chose Metallica
I love Lars (have since 1988/1989), but WHAT? Load and Reload were following the TRENDS and FASHION of the grunge era of the time Lars. Saint Anger was following the NU-Metal era. They were NOT trendsetters after 1993. Metallica is as big as they are because they released 4 of the best trash albums of all time and then released the biggest MAINSTREAM CROSSOVER POP-METAL-HARD ROCK album of all-time and they have been riding on the coat tails of their 5 first albums success for the last 25 years. All of their peers have stayed true to the art and haven't chased popularity (haven't sold out). FACT.
Name me one album that sounds like load/reload and st anger.
@@andrewvanhalen1984 he cant coz there's not one
and does not realize that Metallica stayed true to themselves
Thrash was not hardwired, in fact no genre is
One of the most respected musician is Steven Wilson and he's now shifting towards the pop culture because he's true to himself and does what he wants to
These people that hate are just jealous
This has been debunked so many times. No artist is under obligation to play the same kind of music in their 50s as they did when they were teenagers.
Wtf was that clusterfuck at the end, why did they put his name on the car if he doesn't win it and neither does the raffle winner ???? Then some random guy got up on stage and security didn't check ID or anything
Great vid, keep it up :)
He sure as fuck pulls off dressing like a super rock star
Felix, where the fuck are you?
"...by another company..." - kind of shows how he sees Metallica, as a company instead of a band.
Yes, and he's just being realistic! Metallica has been a company since 1991!
He's kind of bullshitting when he says they weren't scene-oriented. A big reason the move to SF was an easy one was BECAUSE they had a scene they could relate to, which Exodus hosted - a big group of skateboarding metal kids who liked hardcore punk and underground metal alike, with a take no bullshit attitude towards how they presented themselves both in image and spirit.
