Here in Eccles Lancashire England we could only get with our cheap little radio WKBW after dark , but in those days dark and cold we would sing the jingles. Now in my 80s I laugh when I remember 'Now the Weather for Lockport Lakawanna and North Tonnawanda !

Yikes! Those jingles bring back so many sweet memories. Don't figure out my age, but I remember almost ALL--yes, I said ALL--of these beautiful jingles.

These jingles bring back memories of growing up in Northern New Jersey during the 60's & 70's. It was a great time for broadcast radio both am & fm.

I was all of nine years old back in '65, and one night luckily when listening to my Juliette-brand transistor radio just outside Montreal, I picked up WMCA 570 despite its feeble & directional night time signal. Those jingles brought back a load of memories from those moments when top forty radio & their charasmatic on air personalities made them a joy to listen to.

fansofjingles@ , I loved " Put the Radio On Lets Have A Big Party" WINS jingle, been looking for that one a long time. Thanks so much ! What is it about these old jingles that strikes a cord, they somehow season the decade of the 50's and listening to them I visualize millions of homes like Levitt town with a Chevy or Ford in every driveway and a vast array of TV antennas sprouting from every roof. I was too young to remember that decade but my older siblings stories made me wish I'd lived it.

So many clever turns of phrase, in lyrics and melody both...

The first one had an announcer lead-in: "Set your time to WCBS. Four tones will follow; the final, loudest one marks the exact time." Once, I played it alongside the signal from shortwave station CHU Canada... dead-on point accurate!

It used to go off as my alarm, still does, but with the one chime of course...

This reminds of listening to the radio on Long Island in the 50's and 60's listening to B Mitchell Reed on WMCA, Cousin Brucie on WABC and Murray the K on WINS

@fansofjingles Actually, the WCBS-FM jingle that plays on minute 3:14 came out on the mid-80s to the late 90s.

Nice jingles. Imagine if I can do a special on putting some radio station jingles and make it sounded chipmunked, this would be a great idea. I will put a collection of radio jingles and make it a chipmunk version and it will sound funny, or make it a kid version with little kids doing the radio jingles. It would be a lot of fun.

The days when radio was worth listening to. AM And FM today are worthless. PBS is even starting to be worthless. Too many commercials and fund drives.

I do! I’m 15. Trust me, I’m trying my best to bring it back, at least locally! (Giving away transistor radios to friends, etc.)
I’ve told them to tune into 77 WABC on Saturday nights to listen to Cousin Brucie’s 50/60s rock party (Yes, he’s back on WABC in his mid 80’s!)! It’s got all the jingles too!
I’m hoping to grow up to do something that can influence the sound of music/radio, as long as AM survives til I’m out of school, I think I’ll be able to get it back on top! People don’t listen to radio because there’s nothing worth listening to, but if there’s good content, there you go!

I remember Casey Kasem’s rebroadcast on our local oldies station. My family was from the Midwest (NE Colorado) and listened to KOMA Oklahoma City 1520 AM.

@@NickG123 You could just do that on the FM dial with similar jingles and the same jocks.
