This was the main thing I tried to highlight when i previewed this one. You gotta dig the dexterity elements or its not gonna pop for you. I had fun with it though
Thanks Daniel. I looked at this on KS but didn’t back. If I remember there wasn’t quite enough detail to give me confidence for what this game was trying to do. There was no doubt it was trying to be different. But was it different for the sake of being different? Looking at the challenges it seems a bit of a cop out. Just chucking in a simple kid games to provide results. Thanks again. You provide By far the most comprehensive content for Dungeon crawl & adventure games. These are my No1 games of choice.
Yeah this looks better as a group game, or just very casual solo, something you don't really take as a challenge but just something to mess around with and enjoy the lore
There's a huge Dungeon Fighter fan on my group, he'd be all over this one. Myself, I'd like to play once or twice but probably not invest in it, for the same reasons you mention.
The quality of the elements is great. Sorry you didn't like it but to each his own. What I liked is the challenges are completely different from the other games I have.
Nothing wrong with a “Walking Simulator” type of boardgame. I received my copy and I am a lazy gamer, so I probably will enjoy it. I mostly play for the story and lore.
I'm totally on board with your critique. I HATE when GMs, board games, whatever rely on the skill or knowledge of the player for success. I don't know how to swing a sword or a light saber so why do I need to be super skilled at rolling, shuffling dice? Really big mis step in a genre that should know better... Thanks for the upload!
Dang, I really like a lot of what I've seen of this game, but I have very little interest in dexterity, especially when playing solo. I think dexterity is only fun with a group where you can laugh at each other's bad skills :P However, for those who do like dexterity mechanics, I'm sure this would be a lot of fun!
Oof! The dexterity games look janky as hell, and I really enjoy dexterity games! No idea how these passed play testing. Lots of misses trying to connect theme and mechanics.
-Every battle you can all get killed in the first round if all the enemies attack before you. -After 1st round of 5, you already know if you can or cannot win this battle. -Vaki is super hard to acquire, yet you have to throw them all after each battle. -It is impossible to have a vaki in balance after the start of the game until the absolute end of the campaign. -AGI is so much limiting. -None of your choices matter. -If you win or not does not matter. -You cannot have a strategy because everything is random and turn order will change after it was established. -Lots of gambling. -Abilitiy games is the highlight. -The game is fun, but very simple when you realise that most stuff is ineffective in battle. -Everything is about money and XP and nothing else. -It is a good and fun game, but VAKI is a waste of time. -Nothing deeper than they attack and you attack and wishing for more hits on the dice. -You cannot react to enemies attack.
@@TheDungeonDive But the abilities are cool and you get bane for messing the alignment back and forth. What I absolutely hate about the game, because I love it very much. They say that the characters have wing/skin from their writst to their waist to glide shortly, yet in all the game art it is nowhere to be seen.
I really love your videos. You got me really into shadows of brimstone. Thank you for covering this game and showing us how it works.
Sure thing! Thanks for watching.
My family truly enjoyed the game. Light dungeon crawl for a family. Delightful kinetic hands-on energy.
That’s great!

mad respect for picking that lock!
I actually did it on camera!

Dungeon Fighter is the themed dexterity game.
That’s the one! That and Catacombs. Thanks.

It is unique, for sure.
cheers and tnx

I play and love a lot of walking simulators.
I wonder if you could just ignore the excess dexterity stuff and play it as a work of interaction fiction,
Not enough there IMO for that.
Hey Daniel, would you consider looking at the game 'Malhya, Lands of Legends'? The creators should absolutely send you a copy to review!
It’s not on my radar but I’d take a look if they sent one. :)

I hear ya. I don't like when RPGs have riddles the players have to figure out. I'm a stat guy. Let me character figure out. They're smarter than I am!

Totally. Solo dexterity games are just kind of sad. Lol.
@@TheDungeonDive kinda dorky. Like if my wife walked in on me rolling poker chips across the table, I'd be a little embarrassed I think :P
I’m sitting here wondering what version of castle panic he played. You were insistent it’s a dexterity game
If you read the comments you’ll see I was already corrected, and in a much more pleasant tone.
I was thinking of Dungeon Fighter and Catacombs. There. Now you can stop wondering and move on with your life!
Sorry that did come across harsh when I meant it jokingly. Meant to add this 😜
Text is a terrible method of communication:).

Castle Panic is not a dexterity game. Catacombs, however, is an excellent one!
Yep. Already mentioned my mistake in another comment!
Dungeon Fighter is the one I was thinking of.
As soon as I saw the unboxing I knew I had no interest in it.
Wow that looks awful. Definitely avoiding this like the plague. Thanks for the overview
I actually thought the same exact thing too! I’m a sucker for theme and the way it looked on the table was very abstract it lost me right then
All those huge hex’s alone is enough to turn me off the game. Do not like the look.

The way I found to make the game more fun is to keep your vaki after battle.
Seems to me like you can play the game just fine by basically ignoring vaki and alignment.

Thanks for this video. I'm not a big fan of dexterity games, so this is a pass for me.
This game doesn't look fun. Pass.
