I always liked Earnest. He was a very friendly and charismatic old guy, and a father figure for Tommy. When Tommy said to Earnest "Don't you worry, pop. I'm not angry with you.", it melted my heart, showing that despite Tommy was a crimminal and a very brutal sociopath, he still have some kind of humanity and moral codes to the people that worked for him. I just wished that Rockstar would have made another cutscene with Tommy picking Earnest to the hospital, conversating about Lance's betrayal and even Tommy gaving some extra money to Earnest, for all the pain that he had to suffer for his loyalthy to him.
I always thought "Never trust a man who walks the streets in his pajamas" was an insult towards his Soiree suit, but Lance is a turncoat all along from pretending to be Tommy's friend and someone he can trust just to backstab him when the time's right for himself.
I think it might be both. Lance always wears expensive clothing, probably to show off and pretend he is more wealthy that he really is. In vice city stories he buys expensive clothing and even properties, getting himself in debt under the belief that he would be able to pay it later with the drugs he and Vic stole. Of course we could say the same about tommy, because tommy unlocks a nice suit at the start of the game... but the reason why tommy used that suit was because Rosenberg told him to show respect at Cortez party, he dressed like that to show respect. Very different from lance who always wears his expensive suit in an attempt to deceive people into thinking that he is wealthier that he really is. So earnest comment refers that if someone is trying to show off and make himself look more successful that he really is... yeah one should be more weary of they guy.
Also a nod to a real life mob boss, Vincent 'The Chin' Gigante. People often called him The Oddfather because he used to walk the streets of New York in a tattered bathrobe and pajamas muttering incoherently to himself to make the FBI think he was crazy.
Because Lance is a careless lunatic (especially with how much trouble he caused for his brother Vic Vance in VCS), it shouldnt surpise anyone why he betrayed Tommy in VC. But considering that VCS released 4 years after the original VC, the easiest indication to know that Lance was probably gonna betray Tommy was lack of control. Lance screwed up the Diaz hit and almost got killed in VC (Tommy had to save him in the junkyard). Plus, Tommy had to yell at him a few times in VC for being incompetent. Lance just wasnt very loyal, especially if you tried to discipline him like Tommy did.

I think it's less hatred of authority and more of an inferiority complex. There is one phone call in GTA VC where Lance says something along the lines he is tired of being treated like a kid, and also mentions how Victor treated him the same. He doesn't take accountability for his mistakes or try to work harder and then thinks people just hate on him for no reason. But in reality we actually see they both were 100% fair to him and only scolded him when he was being lazy and even then they put up with him and gave him a second chance. It is strongly implied he was bullied in school, which could explain why he feels this way. Honestly Lance is an extremely underrated character. There is actually a lot of depth to his character, even tho he is a scummy idiot.
@@princesslyna1029 if Vic was alive I think either Lance wouldn’t betray Tommy or Lance would betray Tommy but Vic would side with Tommy during the final battle
Maybe Tommy wasn’t too sociable to figure out who is friendly and who is a deceiving snake. That’s why Earnest called Tommy a naive raging lunatic. He was doing jobs for the Forelli family in the past because he went to that easy leaning path as well as maybe he had a few friends in childhood and looked to the mafia as something he glorified. Like Goodfellas which does Star Tommy Vercetti’s voice actor Ray Liotta. Who does play Henry Hill in the movie.
Tommy Vercetti is basically an untouchable (meaning didn't get caught) Henry Hill. However, I doubt Earnest would've returned to work (not necessarily meaning he would've died, but..) given how organized crime thugs typically either render you helpless or worse when needing something out of the way.
I consider Ken to be Tommy's best friend because in many ways he doesn't snitch or do any sort of sneaky plan to get rid of tommy by contacting sonny and tell him that tommy is busy Taking over vice city and he isn't working on getting your money back. instead despite the situation that tommy was in, Ken still stood by his side till the end of the game unlike Lance we can already see how much trouble he caused on both vic and tommy but still throughout the game he's given the underboss role which one of the most responsible jobs in the mafia yet instead of using it to help tommy he uses it for his own cowardly self he doesn't work or even try to help and tommy had every right to yell at him for not working and this sorta effected him in a way where he felt betrayed by tommy even though tommy saved his life at one point.
Makes you wonder what happened in the long run with Tommy. Why does Ken end up in rehab an eventually working for the mafia again, this time in Las Venturas
@@Jonny_NI Because Ken refused to stop doing drugs like Tommy expected him to and Tommy felt that Ken's unwillingness to quit drugs makes him void of reliability, so Tommy has to send him to rehab. Tommy may have still cared for Ken, but Ken blew his chance already.
Nahhhh ken true bestfriend is CJ. CJ saved him from Salvatore Leone and even helped him get into a better position being madd dogg accountant than how he was after years of rehab
Glad you explained Professional from a deep character study of Lance’s betrayal and the mindset of Earnest who didn’t forewarn Tommy of Lance of being an untrustworthy being.
Lance very likely has Borderline Personality Disorder. We can see this from his fear of abandonment in both Vice City and Vice City Stories, and always trying to test his brother and Tommy to see if they'll always stay loyal to him, no matter how much he screws up. When Tommy didn't reinforce his behaviour, he saw it as the time to betray him.
@@miguelaponte8876 she is textbook borderline with psychopathic tendencies based off San Andreas, if you going only off GTA III then textbook sociopath. Not sure if BPD (personality disorder) is actually a real thing but rather the mood storms are real.
@@sonicdemon1123 It sucks there was never any interaction between her and Cesar since they were cousins. Cesar must of known how she is but he never warned Carl about her in that regard.
Lance comes from the unfortunate family with a missing father, a drug-addicted mother who came to pay visit for once and ended up stealing his coke that was ready for sale and then ran off (a moment from VCS), and had to be raised by his aunt instead, and the man of the house was his brother Victor who was always unhappy with him but never left him for personal reasons, but then he died, causing another heap of stress for Lance. This is where we can see that Lance has a mental trauma causing him to have the abandonment issues, and when circumstances press on his wound his subconsciousness responds with a rage that takes action and mutes his reasoning (which is why he went against Diaz alone and got himself nearly killed in the junkyard even though Tommy said multiple times that he wants to take a slow and safe approach at the revenge, and Lance seemed to agree with the idea). Lance is an uncontrollable fool who has caused a lot of problems to everyone who had to deal with him, but he wasn't doing this for fun or just to piss someone off.
The protection thing makes a hell lotta sense when you notice that Lance was responsible for protecting all the assets. You can tell by the protection ring asset missions that Lance's occupied the role of head of security, just like Many Rivera in Scarface, meaning he was the commander of all Tommy's man (Tommy even said "Lance go get the guys together) so his function was to send over guards to defend Tommy's bussiness all over Vice City, but since Lance was already talking with Sonny, he probably called off all the guys on the print works into doing something else so no one would suspect.
Earnest is a great example of why you need wise older men in your circle. They lived a lot longer than you and have much more wisdom to see things you would’ve never saw yourself
A sign that makes Lance suspicious is at the end of mission "Back Alley Brawl" "I'll be watching you Tommy." So he knows who Tommy is, without any need of introducing themselves.
I think that tells me he was in league with Sonny for a good while and there is the conspicuous appearance of the drugs and money at Marco’s Bistro when Tommy rings Sonny right after the initial deal went wrong...
@@rayvenkman2087 thinking about sonny and lance long connections i had the thought that the whole failed deal at the beginning was probably a setup by both sonny and lance and since lance is an asshole i think he probably didn’t mind looking at his brother getting killed infront of his eyes i think lance and sonny were trying to play the 1000iq game since they knew tommy could handle alot of stuff and is intelligent enough to take over a city so they thought they would overcome his intelligence together and they barely did at the end especially about the whole security part but they failed at the shootout fortunately for tommy thats just a theory that came into my mind anyways
@@mihaivasilescu8672 Yeah but how would Lance have known about Tommy Vercetti’s name when they’re setting up a deal with the Forellis? Usually in those deals, you wouldn’t have known who’s who on the client’s side unless it’s on a need to know basis and I doubt Tommy’s release would have been widely known about in the underworld at that point unless you were actively following the case. Either Lance has been shadowing Tommy about by starting off his search with Ken Rosenberg whom I’m certain would have been known to the Vance Brothers in relation to the Forellis and by being based in Vice City so degree or he got his name off from Diaz as Quinton with Vice City Stories showing how they became associates and Diaz would have gotten the name off from Cortez through Gonzales.
Man never knew Vice City had so much backstory and in-depth characters. Every dialogue in the cutscenes has a deep meaning or a reference. Very well written. I never would have figured this out. This makes me appreciate Vice City and the Rockstar Devs who developed this game even more. Thank You for your inputs Professional!!
I feel like Lance might have betrayed Tommy earlier in the story. My guess is right after Diaz was killed when Tommy embarrased him in front of the gang during that time frame. It makes sense as to how Sunny knew Tommy was building up his empire and how he was able to keep tabs on his rise. Either way he's a snake and a good reason to make sure the friends you have are who they say they are.
Nah everyone knew Tommy was making big moves so it’s not surprising that Sonny would hear about it and be keeping tabs on Tommy since Tommy is still supposed to be looking for/making Sonny’s money back. I can see his betrayal happening just before Sonny sends men to rob money from Tommy’s businesses or maybe just after that mission which would be before the last one
@@josephstalin2606 that is true Tommy was making very big moves but I still think Lance started talking to Sunny after Tommy embarrased him during his in lore few days off
Considering what I seen in the events of Vice City Stories, it makes sense that Lance would eventually betray Tommy because he’s an out of control lunatic. A sociopath. An opportunist who doesn’t want to do the hard work and yet entitled a cut for such businesses.
Remember he said “Yo green and my dead brother’s white lady” which the latter is kinda confusing since he hated Louise but I realize now he was jealous she wanted Vic and not him
Lance has no emotional attachment towards others and Sociopaths tend to do things out of emotional attachments. Lance's motivations for crimes aren't attachments but greed, sadism, "fun". Lance could be a psycho and his empathy and remorse towards Vic are not the Lance we know. It's all an act.
I think lance could have also been involved in the bank heist alongside tommy, Phil Cassidy, cam Jones and Hilary king but he did not want to do so since he wants to have a cut without doing his part(he could have served as a lookout)though rewriting the heist mission which involves lance would probably require them to use another vehicle that would have carried more than 4 people(including the driver)
0:35 Why Didn't He Warn Tommy? Speaking logically, I doubt Tommy would believe him. Tommy is basically just his new boss and his been with Lance for say few months now. That's just my opinion.
Let's say, Lance succeeded in betraying Tommy and also getting him killed. Even then, Sonny would've had Lance killed as well, so that only the Forellis get benefitted and not some low level thug. Safe to say, Lance was lucky it was Tommy who killed him, and not the Forellis.
Yup. The Mafia never trusts rats unless they serve a unique purpose. Unfortunately for Lance, he'd ironically be murdered alongside Tommy for disloyalty even if the Forellis succeeded.
Basically if he stayed loyal to Tommy, he might have his own gang by now in South Florida vs. being dead because he got tired of being ordered around, only to get ordered around by Sonny to his death.
The clues were obvious in Lance's phone calls throughout the game. So, at the end of the game, Keep Your Friends Close, i had a sneaking suspicion that Lance was going to betray Tommy.
The other thing for me is that Sonny’s goons didn’t beat Lance up, while they beat up Earnest. For me that made me question Lance’s role and made me think he was a back stabber.
I think Lance told Sonny’s guys to tax the print works first because Lance knows that this is the business with the least security that generates large amounts of income to Tommy. Lance knows that the workers in that business is defenseless specially with an old man leading that business.
So how could sonny forelli's men even be able to forcibly tax the print works if there are members of Tommy's gang guarding the print works... Unless lance used his position to dismiss the vercetti goons and have the print works become vulnerable to attacks from sonny's men. And Tommy has lots of other businesses that sonny can tax provided that lance discloses the other businesses that tommy runs
The pijamas part I always thought it was because Lance in VCS when you first met him he looked very nerdy and insecure (which he shows) and after a few missions he dresses up in a fancy suit trying to look menacing but he is still a weak person trying to be someone else
Well, to quote Ken Rosenberg, “He’s neurotic, he’s insecure, the guy’s an a**hole!”. That summed it up best. As for Earnest Kelly, he probably figured that it wasn’t anything Tommy couldn’t handle, but that Tommy would need to learn from his own mistakes. Trying to explain to someone doesn’t compare to them learn from their own mistakes, I guess.
to be honest, as a kid, i always thought why everywhere i go, things are guarded, but nobody protects my properties... i thought someone responsible for security is doing something wrong
At this time I just thought it is because of the weak AI. In 'Cap the collectors' you see your guards are just standing there and talking, meanwhile the enemies tax the businesses and they are shooting at you. In the final mission sometimes the Vercetti gang members help you fight against the maffiosos, but it is very rare.
I think earnest comment about “never trust a man who walk in his pijamas” refers to the expensive suit that lance wears. One needs to remember in what point of vice city stories he starts using an expensive suit and live in a mansion, just when he stole the Mendez coke, he didn’t even sold it, he himself said to victor that he is now in debt with the bank... and then we remember that when he just moved to vice city he specifically moves to a nice apartment and victor even ask where he got the money, and lance says that he told them to send the bill to him. So yeah, what does that tell us? That lance is someone who loves to live a life of luxury, not caring if he really can’t afford it, he is an ambitious man, one that even wear clothes well beyond his budget. Of course one could argue the same of tommy also using an expensive suit and that comment also would apply to him, but remember that he unlocks it in the mission where he goes to an important party, is to show respect at Cortez party that Rosenberg tells him to wear that expensive outfit instead of that Hawaiian shirt. That’s very different from always using an expensive suit to appear richer that you really are. So the comment “never trust a man who walks in his pajamas” refers to never trust a man who tries to appear richer and successful that he really is.
Reminds me of the youtube Good to Evil video that ranked Earnest Kelly the Most Good. I hope you do a 100% playthrough of Vice City Professional. Good advice from Earnest too "Never trust a man who walks the streets in his pajamas." Didn't realize until recently that it was George Dicenzo, Lorraine's dad from Back to the Future, who played Earnest in this game. Good character actor.
This was a great video. I agree 100% with what you said. I can't wait to see more of your lore videos because I love getting to learn not only the complexity of these GTA games but also about different life morals and symbolism.
Than how you explain the fact that "Earnest knew 100% that Lance will betray Tommy", but he has not said anything because "what he only gas is suspicions". If you only have suspicions, you know 100%?
This makes Vice City feel so much more deep. Excellent video man. Earned a subscriber! Maybe do a video about Kent Paul and his connections to the Vice City underworld?
This is honestly an amazing analysis, and it taught me things I didn't even know about the game. It makes a lot of sense, and sheds light on a small character who had more story about him. I honestly really enjoyed this, and I am excited to hear more from your other lore videos.
That was very good. Earnest was very loyal to Tommy. It also shows that Tommy isn't heartless when he's around him. Tommy is a human being and he's good with his workers. Earnest played the smart game and let Lance exposed himself. I played Vice City a lot. I didn't catch that Lance didn't help Tommy at all when Tommy was getting the plates for the counterfeiting and there was none of Tommy's guards guarding the businesses because Lance was the underboss.
@@kratosgow342 more like lance losing his trust and confidence with tommy.. tommy still did his best to maintain lance's trust but lance still chose to betray tommy vercetti
@@kratosgow342 "How poorly was treating him since." And you are conveniently leaving out that Tommy was right in treating Lance like that because Lance was the underboss and he wasn't doing his job properly.
Nice video man! I absolutely loved it. Also, to add to one of the points you made about Lance being in charge of security, there is another definitive proof to this, and that is in the cutscene of the mission "Bar Brawl", where we see that Lance is supposed to handle a problem with The Front Page Cafe, a business in Ocean Beach that is refusing to pay protection. As Tommy sees that Lance is not handling the situation correctly (again, another proof that he was not trustworthy) he goes and eliminates the previous security at the cafe. Just thought i'd add that, I hope this helps with the theories. Take care :)
when i played Vice City 1986, i already knew somethings wrong with Lance, i have my fair share of good guys being a rat the whole time Vice City (Miami) is a wonderland for crime organizations, the sense of loyalty or friendship dont mean shit there
I liked Earnest and Tommy's relationship. Tommy sees him as a father figure and he opens him up and shows a human side to his character. At first I thought Tommy was an "old, psychotic lunatic that wanted to take over and not care about others" but when he meets Earnest he talks about his past and his childhood and sees his father in him. Tommy also respects him and treats him well and this helps me think of Tommy much better as a character in my mind. To be honest, I didn't always enjoy Tommy as a character, but thanks to meeting Earnest and the print works it showed a human side to his personality and made me take a better look at Tommy's character to where I actually like Tommy a lot more now than I used to. My opinion of Lance has changed over the years, after my brother and I played Vice City Stories, I really started to sour on Lance because Vic had to get his ass out of the fire too many times and Tommy had to do the same a couple of times.
I think its because earnest had probably been in this situation before vice city and vice city stories so probably seen gangster betraying their bosses
I beat vice city again for like the idk 7th time or so maybe more. But something I did notice was when you have a base your guards are crawling all over the street. But at the end here it feels alone theres no backup or guards, at the beginning of the game lance had your back. Once things took off well, lance took a more passive role.
I just wanna say one thing for your upcoming Forelli Family Overview. I really don’t feel like Franco died. Four main reasons. One, if he HAD died in GTA LCS; they would have told us ( since SA came out first) . Secondly, as we’ve seen time and time again, both before and after this, Forelli Leadership tends to HQ at Saint Marks Bistro, so he probably wasn’t in Little Italy. Thirdly, it’s the Forelli Brothers PLURAL in GTA 3, implying someone else besides Mike is still alive. And fourthly, the Forelli’s appear in missions in 3 even after Mike died, implying there’s still someone to lead it, which would have to be Franco, the last Forelli Brother who survived til the bitter end.
17:00 I never thought of it. Tommy does come across as a dick at times, but I think is because he's just a no nonsense guy working in a criminal world. He'd certainly ask Ernest for evidence before trusting him.
There's one thing i feel that was missed. How would Sonny's guys know where Tommy's businesses are? Sonny would have no clue. He would need inside information. If Tommy wasn't so blinded by rage, he would have asked how did the couriers know who to hit
Very likely Sonny had spies or had Lance on the payroll a long time ago, perhaps as early as the start of this entire storyline. I'm just glad there was a sage-like presence for Tommy in Earnest who was at least somewhat pure-hearted to Tommy beyond the counterfeit cash scheme that he introduced which led to Lance's betrayal.
But last I recall, Tommy didn't say it was 'exclusively his business' so to speak until after that happened, so Lance couldn't use that as an excuse, if that was the case.
Also what if the Vercetti Gang were made of members of the former Diaz Cartel, defected Forelli mob associates, and maybe out of job former Vance Crime Family members. How powerful would they make themselves to be? Powerful enough to become the dominant gang in Vice City. Heck maybe Tommy would make Vice City similar to what Vito Scarletta did to New Bordeaux in the Mafia 3 ending in if you chose Lincoln Clay to leave town and let Vito live. Would he have made Vice City more family and gentrified tourist city in the south. Would his gang have a criminal monopoly on Vice City? Would the Vercetti Gang keep the peace in Vice City? Lessen the bloodshed if they’re the only gang powerful to keep criminals in line and allow the non criminal civilians live in peace.
The vercetti gang members could have also included surviving former members of the cholos and the Mendez cartel, or probably other renegade forelli family members who, like tommy got betrayed by the forellis.

My guess is earnest overheard lance talking to sonny on the phone and he probably wanted to tommy but didn't get the chance to because lance probably attacked him and thought he was dead at least that what I think
I always assumed Lance was against Tommy from the beginning, somehow knew he was in the alleyway with the chef (Stalking?), then Sonny somehow gets Tommys new number very early in the game (Lance probably told him he stole his phone). Lance knowing Tommys name before even telling him! Its as if Sonny convinced Lance to keep an eye on Tommy from the start or even set out hoping he dies in the drug bust. Also Lance just keeps showing up, the parking lot where Tommy gets the guns for Guardian Angels, Diazs boat, keeping an eye on the businesses hes setting up. Tommy had a bad feeling about him from the start, Ken stating he never liked him, Lance doesn't pay you in the mission "Death Row" even for saving him and STILL stabs him in the back! Also blaming Tommy on the phone calls for the way hes treating him, lack of accountability for his own fuck-ups
I never thought too much about Earnest’s comments. I took it as meaning Vice City is full of deceiving snakes (Diaz, Gonzales, Donald Love, Mama Juju, Pastor Richards, etc.) Earnest, having lived in Vice City for so many years, had lots of experience with this. Also, Lance left us many hints at his insecurities. Some of these instances happened in front of the boys, and if one thing is true in Vice City, it’s that word gets around.

It's clearly obvious that Earnest played through Vice City before letting Tommy know.
I was really shocked when Lance betrayed us. He was a pain in the ass sometimes but he was just a funny character.
At least you get to see him in vcs and this time he doesn't betray you
I though that he will be on our side in the end.
@@MaxerV19 He doesn't betray you, but he gets you into trouble, a lot.
I always felt that his traitor was forced.
Vic Vance's story was heartbreaking. I hate Lance.
A lot of is his coke addiction
Catalina also fits with BPD, add some psychopathic tendencies too with her.
Bipolar the least
A sign that makes Lance suspicious is at the end of mission "Back Alley Brawl"
"I'll be watching you Tommy."
So he knows who Tommy is, without any need of introducing themselves.
I think that tells me he was in league with Sonny for a good while and there is the conspicuous appearance of the drugs and money at Marco’s Bistro when Tommy rings Sonny right after the initial deal went wrong...
@@rayvenkman2087 thinking about sonny and lance long connections
i had the thought that the whole failed deal at the beginning was probably a setup by both sonny and lance and since lance is an asshole i think he probably didn’t mind looking at his brother getting killed infront of his eyes
i think lance and sonny were trying to play the 1000iq game since they knew tommy could handle alot of stuff and is intelligent enough to take over a city
so they thought they would overcome his intelligence together and they barely did at the end especially about the whole security part
but they failed at the shootout fortunately for tommy
thats just a theory that came into my mind anyways
@@rayvenkman2087 he knew about him because of the deal at the begening!Lance was in the helicopter
Either Lance has been shadowing Tommy about by starting off his search with Ken Rosenberg whom I’m certain would have been known to the Vance Brothers in relation to the Forellis and by being based in Vice City so degree or he got his name off from Diaz as Quinton with Vice City Stories showing how they became associates and Diaz would have gotten the name off from Cortez through Gonzales.
no he point blank tells him his name in that cutscene
This is why you’re THE PROFESSIONAL, you never fail to make these videos so entertaining. You’re like the printer, looking at every small detail lol
Remember he said “Yo green and my dead brother’s white lady” which the latter is kinda confusing since he hated Louise but I realize now he was jealous she wanted Vic and not him
@@alexishanes6162 white lady is a slang for cocaine
Lance has no emotional attachment towards others and Sociopaths tend to do things out of emotional attachments. Lance's motivations for crimes aren't attachments but greed, sadism, "fun". Lance could be a psycho and his empathy and remorse towards Vic are not the Lance we know. It's all an act.
@@alexishanes6162 white lady means cocaine dude
I think lance could have also been involved in the bank heist alongside tommy, Phil Cassidy, cam Jones and Hilary king but he did not want to do so since he wants to have a cut without doing his part(he could have served as a lookout)though rewriting the heist mission which involves lance would probably require them to use another vehicle that would have carried more than 4 people(including the driver)
Lance always wanted tommy's position, I realise that when Lance tried to Kill Diaz all by himself, he wanted to be the man who run Vice City.
Knowing all of his mistakes from VCS, he wouldn't even last long to run an effective operations.
0:35 Why Didn't He Warn Tommy?
Speaking logically, I doubt Tommy would believe him. Tommy is basically just his new boss and his been with Lance for say few months now.
That's just my opinion.
I like what rockstar do with these characters in the gta games when we didn't know characters like Lance smoke would betray us

@@hybridShinx OK, *Edit* There

Let's say, Lance succeeded in betraying Tommy and also getting him killed. Even then, Sonny would've had Lance killed as well, so that only the Forellis get benefitted and not some low level thug. Safe to say, Lance was lucky it was Tommy who killed him, and not the Forellis.
Yes.. sonny forelli would have trusted people of Italian descent more than black people.
@@rlouie05 That's so stupid and I feel like they could do something different with him. He could be much more better character.
I am pretty sure it was already too late to tell it to Tommy… and I think Earnest was afraid of the Maffia as well
I think Lance told Sonny’s guys to tax the print works first because Lance knows that this is the business with the least security that generates large amounts of income to Tommy. Lance knows that the workers in that business is defenseless specially with an old man leading that business.
Yeah, it gives more explanation as to why the security in Print Works has left. It’s all conspiracy by Lance and Sonny
Ernest knew because he wasn't scared stupid and he didn't go to jail. You're one smart cookie Ernest P. Worrell 😎🤠
lol i see what you did there
Ernest went to jail tho
Well, to quote Ken Rosenberg, “He’s neurotic, he’s insecure, the guy’s an a**hole!”. That summed it up best.
As for Earnest Kelly, he probably figured that it wasn’t anything Tommy couldn’t handle, but that Tommy would need to learn from his own mistakes. Trying to explain to someone doesn’t compare to them learn from their own mistakes, I guess.
I like to think that Earnest just have a lot of experience in life so he knows how to read people
he probably been in tommy's position before and got betrayed
to be honest, as a kid, i always thought why everywhere i go, things are guarded, but nobody protects my properties... i thought someone responsible for security is doing something wrong
@@matepusztai5713 yeah, the original version where Tommy's gang shows up during the mansion shootout, and all hell broke loose !
10:44 When you played Definitive version of VC i was actually questioning, how? How did Sonny know what businesses Tommy owned?
Lance probably told Sonny
@@gftyhify Yeah probably right after Tommy yelled at him infront of the other gang members.
2 lore videos in 2 days? Hell yeah, this gonna be a great week. Thanks Pro, much respect from Indonesia. Stay healthy💪.
Looking forward to the upcoming lore videos. Thanks for making these, man. Much love.
I dont think there is any other GTA UA-camr who gives such in depth Lore videos about the old GTA games. Very nice my man!
Finally more lore content, honestly I'd rather have 2 or more lore videos every 2 weeks
Loved the relationship with Earnest, along with Avery and Cortez. Real compassion.
Your theory videos are always hitting the right spot
Lance was working for Sonny Forelli the whole time and was told to gain Tommy's trust to keep an eye on him is what I think
Nah. Lance wouldn’t have had Vic killed plus Sonny wouldn’t have had his own deal ambushed that set the whole events of this game in motion.
Nah I think Lance started to working with Sonny after Tommy killed Diaz and how poorly he treated him since
@@kratosgow342 more like lance losing his trust and confidence with tommy.. tommy still did his best to maintain lance's trust but lance still chose to betray tommy vercetti

@@jorgebersabe293 oh I know rhat I just said in Lance POV and why he decides to betrayed Tommy at the end
Take care :)
when i played Vice City 1986, i already knew somethings wrong with Lance, i have my fair share of good guys being a rat the whole time
Vice City (Miami) is a wonderland for crime organizations, the sense of loyalty or friendship dont mean shit there
I liked Earnest and Tommy's relationship.
Earnest should’ve had more scenes
We should have had more touching on that part of Tommy’s life.
@@josephstalin2606 Yeah I think so too.
I think its because earnest had probably been in this situation before vice city and vice city stories so probably seen gangster betraying their bosses
in the life of crime syndicates, loyalty and friendships plays a very short time
I beat vice city again for like the idk 7th time or so maybe more. But something I did notice was when you have a base your guards are crawling all over the street.
But at the end here it feels alone theres no backup or guards, at the beginning of the game lance had your back. Once things took off well, lance took a more passive role.
RIP Ray Liotta.
There's also georgio forelli who was mentioned in the two vice city games
17:00 I never thought of it. Tommy does come across as a dick at times, but I think is because he's just a no nonsense guy working in a criminal world. He'd certainly ask Ernest for evidence before trusting him.
Thank you Professional, I’ve been waiting for a GTA Lore Video! I was scratching my eyes out waiting for this!
Vic Vance would be disappointed in Lance.
Indeed
I feel like Vic would indeed be disappointed in Lance, but at the same time wouldn’t be surprised.
@@99mrpogi Not to forget surviving members of Martinez’s soldiers (especially the ones with Greaser outfits used to kidnap Louise)
@@Aidel1011 Like the goons who kidnapped Louise turned out to actually be gentlemen at heart and they don't wish to harm women but was threatened by Armando into following his orders

My theory is earnest did live in Vice city before tommy came along
You live in a area long enough and if you’ve dipped your toes into illegal business you hear about the organized crime and who was at the top?
The Vance brothers
Vic being rational
Lance as the chaotic
was also a commodity that the vance brothers also had a stake in
And just like when you get to the top
You get careless you get lazy and or cocky and that’s why Vic was gamer ended at the start

Play VCS you see the reality of Lance Vance. Dont forget in the last mission he turns up in the last minute.
Lance has never been reliable and most of the missions involved Lance screwing up. Victor treat him as a kid because he was the one that has not matured and was acting a like kid with his screw ups.
Makes sense that he will betray because Lance always makes stupid decisions which lead to consequences.
Victor Vance was more like a anti hero. He never wanted to be a criminal even joined the army just so Petes medical bills can be paid.
Victor Vance said even scorned himself on what he has become even lost the love of his life. If Louise did not die I think victor was gonna get the money take her far away and start a family.
Someone's incompetent, impatient & immature like Lance never cease to betray people (especially Tommy and his own brother Vic) and I think that he wouldn't be considered to stay loyal to his own Blood Brother (Vic & Pete) and all of his family, friends or anyone
If Vic survived the ambush, and they both became friends with tommy, lance probably won't even betray tommy..
@@99mrpogi if Vic survived the ambush and Lance still betrayed Tommy Vic would be furious with Lance. It would actually make an interesting ending. In that scenario I think Tommy would kill Lance for his betrayal and he would then be forced to kill Vic because even though Vic would be angry at Lance he would still want Tommy dead for killing his brother so Tommy would have to kill Vic to save himself and then kill Sonny

My guess is earnest overheard lance talking to sonny on the phone and he probably wanted to tommy but didn't get the chance to because lance probably attacked him and thought he was dead at least that what I think
Earnest would have told Tommy in the opening cutscene of cap the collector that Lance was involved in his beating.
He could also knew about Tommy since the deal , he was afterall Vic's right hand too
I never thought too much about Earnest’s comments.
