Funny how people who claim to support "democracy" want to emulate Russia and China when it comes to banning social media sites that aren't government mouthpieces.
Hate speech, lies, fake news and false accusations against Elon on social and mainstream media are of course not censored, but rather encouraged it seems.
I am Brazilian, and the Supreme Court judge is actually quite conservative. He was a former prosecutor and has directly dealt with crime, among other issues. The point is not entirely related to the left versus right political divide, even though right-wing people claim it is. The judge is targeting those who are spreading misinformation about our voting system and cannot provide any proof to support their claims. These individuals are actively fighting against our democracy, calling for military coups, for example. Meanwhile, Musk is actively protecting them by giving them a platform to attack our institutions. Also, to be clear, the judge has not acted alone. Our Supreme Court is composed of 11 judges, and in a recent ruling, his decision was supported by four other ministers (this is what we call them in an directly translation), with five votes in favor of his ruling. So, this is not undemocratic at all-he’s just being a crybaby because we don't bow to his will and money. The number of people that cant understand the basic in our country even after explained is absurd. In here it is illegal to an international company to stay and function without a juridic base in the country. To prevent or hold the company responsable in case of any issues. Like the billionare refuse to comply with the laws, for exemple. Furthermore, it is worth noting that in Brazil it is a crime to have Nazi speech, to suggest that people be racist and homophobic, it is a crime provided for in our law made by Brazilian society. X needs to respect the laws in Brazil just as if it were a Brazilian company like 3G, owner of Burger King, or Embraer respects and has a legal representative where it operates.
@bobrobertson9547 It's not banned forever, it's a conditional suspension: simply follow Brazilian laws, and the suspension will be lifted and it will be back up.

Here in Brazil, today, September 13th, Elon Musk, through Starlink, has just paid the fine imposed by Brazilian judicial authorities on X. The fine amounts to approximately 4 million dollars. Now, to reactivate X in Brazil, they will still have to appoint a representative of the company here in Brazil, in addition to complying with court orders. These multimillionaires have to be hit in the pocket; only then will they respect the authorities of various countries.
Some information about Brazil and the case: Free speach is in our constitution as "liberty of expresing your thoughts, with no anonimacy", but also our constituition defines attacks against the democratic state, hate speach, sharing private stuff of another person and a few more as crimes above the free speach. The accounts that should've been blocked had some or all of those crimes. And since 2002 any company that operates in Brazilian territory needs to have a "holding" in Brazil to awnser the authorities. Elon not only took the X holding off Brazil, but also ignored the brazilian judiciary and made fun about it. All Brazilians are under Brazil's law and any foreign person or company in Brazilian territory is too, if you dont like the court decision.... you go to court to fight against it, but until then you have to comply. Also in our constitution is the duty to protect national sovereignty, no outsider will disrespect our law in here. And that's the only reason I agree with the block.
It´s not only about restricting free speech, here in Brazil any company that operates on the marked must have a legal representative in the country and Elon just think he can do whatever comes to his mind, but forgets that he has to obey the rules of the country where he does business. In the real world you can´t just go and incite violence without getting reprimanded for that, in the digital space it make no sense to let that be normal. Not taking in account that the types of Elon can steer the online opinions with clever algorithms and bots.
My country should ban the Brazilian commie leader from ever visiting my country. We have lived under it so we are not so kind to leaders like the one in Brazil.
The first amendment in the US does not protect speech that is malicious, hate speech or a known falsehood. All it takes is their Supreme Court to have the courage to address it. There is no absolute.
Actually it does, you can lie, talk nonsense, anything that comes to your mind as long as you dont directly call for violence. It is your job to deal with it, ignore it or do your own speech. First amendment is a ticket to freedom and every country shoud have it. Those who oppose it opt for tyrany, fascism, communism or anything that keep people in bondage.

To those claiming this is censorship: Freedom of speech is different from using social media to commit crimes, such as spreading fake news, abuse, incitement or glorification of violence and crime, scams, forgeries, threats, etc. Just because it's social media doesn't mean there are no laws. If a company is being notified about these 'crimes,' it must follow the law and act for the safety of its users and society as a whole. Elon Musk behaves like a child, making decisions based on what suits him, and thinks that just because he's rich, he owns the world and can't be contradicted.

Please do the same in Europe. We don't need those lawless platforms, only working for their own profit.
Say the truth guys : They will be ban if you don’t have a legal representation in Brazil. There is no legal person incharhe for company in Brazil- to receive letter from government officials. That’s why they shut it down. ! The judge request this for long time and X did not appoint a person for this job ….
And also that they seized the assets and threatened to arrest the person that was X’s legal rep.
Musk took out the representatives because he feared for their lives. Blue sky has no legal representative and yet they run. Lula promoted them actually. Interesting. Musk just didn't comply with banning X accounts of Morales's political opponents No hate speech. Just differing opinions. So much Elon Musk hate from people that never listened to Musk first hand (not someone's highlights or spin)
Hate speech is a crime in Brazil if Elon Musk do not respect Brazil ban and all Brazilians are okay with NO X in Brazil.
There is no hate speech law in Brazil, Brazil protects free speech in the Constitution but these judges are communist radicals and want communism in Brazil.
You speak for every Brazilian? Then why has vpn use soared?
Okay government shill😂😂😂😂
oh yeah, lets throw people in jail for posting an internet meme. Worked out very well in the UK.
It isn't, there's no legislation regarding "hate speech", there is legislation protecting free speech, legislation being completely ignored by the communist tyrants ruling Brazil right now.
Funny how quiet Kung Fu Class Elon is about "X" in China and Russia
Funny how people who claim to support "democracy" want to emulate Russia and China when it comes to banning social media sites that aren't government mouthpieces.
Brazil is part of BRICS block so no wonder they do this, probably acting upon order of CCP.
Brazil now is in line with Communist ?
Those contries are not a democracy, Brazil WAS a democracy so we strugle to save it

Right on Brazil! Its time to recognize the difference between opinion and harassment.
Brazil calls It misinformarion when It says somethimg they don't like. It Is censorship
The only harassment comes from the authoritarian government your clueless shill
Hate speech, lies, fake news and false accusations against Elon on social and mainstream media are of course not censored, but rather encouraged it seems.
Elon is a beacon of light in these dark times and that is why he is so much hated by establishments and elites across the world.

@@hisham_hmWhich laws? I don’t think you know more than this talking point.

I prefered the 80s without all of it ,life was happier and simpler back then.

It may of been, but a lot of monsters lurked in the shadows bavk then, like Jimmy Saville etc. I don't think I can look at the 90s and 90s in the same rose tinted glasses anymore
Nope, while internet and social media made us unhappy, it was just ignorance being bliss, being able to fight back against governments screwing us is the real reason they want to regulate them.
Doesn't mean the world wasn't jacked up. The cold war was a thing and so many more.
Exactly 💯
In Brazil, we sarcastically call him 'KIKO DOS FOGUETES,' but it seems his disregard for our laws extends beyond his rocket obsession. If he thinks he can run Twitter (now X) here without following our regulations, he's in for a surprise. He'll have to comply, just like any other company, or he can take his platform elsewhere.
Nobody cares about your laws when your president will probably be in jail again before too long. Banana republic.
Only communist people call him that, real Brazilians, 90% of the population, support him and Brazil's laws that protect free speech, which is enshrined in the Brazilian Constitution, making any attempt to censor illegal. You're a criminal as much as Alexandre de Moraes.

How X is making money, I think through Ads , just like Facebook & Google.
And the population of Brazil is 215.3 million. Wouldnt look great for losing a market like that .
They will just reinstate it after the communist party is voted out. Plus very little ratio of active users
X was going to bankrupt in brazil. There are no Ads enough to pay for thr operation. It was a clever idea to force the legal system to force him back to shutdown his own office, which in turn motivated brazilian justice to suspend x activities there until a new office or representative is restored.
X also banned in Pakistan 240 million population
I guess you've never heard of a VPN either.
@@obsidianjane4413 And I guess you have no idea VPNs change nothing. The amount of people who even know what a VPN is is much smaller than the general population. The amount of people willing to pay for a VPN to access illegal content is even smaller. Add a massive fine on top of that for intimidation and the amount of people that's confident and knowledgeable enough to correctly configure a VPN to literally break the law while avoiding one of the many pitfalls is non existent at this point. You have virtually no one left. Do you think any company is going to have a presence on X after that? Who are they going to advertise for? There's no one left, advertisers are not going to use VPNs to advertise their products to ghosts. Brazil alone just broke X's legs completely, now imagine if others follow suit.

Bit like blackrock and Vanguard telling countries how they should be ran.
Bravo Brazil! Defend your country from devils!
They can’t. Their president is an Ex con that never beat the evidence remember?
Here in Brazil, today, September 13th, Elon Musk, through Starlink, has just paid the fine imposed by Brazilian judicial authorities on X.
The fine amounts to approximately 4 million dollars.
Now, to reactivate X in Brazil, they will still have to appoint a representative of the company here in Brazil, in addition to complying with court orders.
These multimillionaires have to be hit in the pocket; only then will they respect the authorities of various countries.
Elon Musk should be banned
Some information about Brazil and the case:
Free speach is in our constitution as "liberty of expresing your thoughts, with no anonimacy", but also our constituition defines attacks against the democratic state, hate speach, sharing private stuff of another person and a few more as crimes above the free speach.
Wow, there is so much hate here that they should ban UA-cam in Brazil too 🤣
