I think this rumor only gained traction by journalists desperate to generate clicks, regardless of how unimportant or innocuous the news is. I’m not doubting it might be a hot console, but I highly doubt the console will produce enough heat to be disruptive.

Yeah they made rumors for it on both the Xbox and the Playstation and after the 360 I highly doubt they would make systems that hot again. Both of them look clearly designed for heat control with the Series X having a full 120mm fan on it and the Playstation having a double thick blower fan though still having odd small intakes. It should still be good and I expect both will be quiet. Though I imagine the PS5 will be slightly louder as blower fans aren't as smooth as axial fans due to the nature of taking air in from the sides and trying to paddle it in one direction when they cause turbulence in all directions. It's why laptops are considered "quiet" if they are only 40db.

@@jinkazama7587 That “higher than any console” measurement was taken was from the ventilation ports on top. Their cooling system is designed to blow all the heat out from one fan, so most of the console’s overall heat is being concentrated and released at that one area. Also, he showed that the rest of the console was pretty stable, which shows that it was doing a good job keeping the heat towards the top as opposed to near the components. I’m surprised it doesn’t produce more heat since it has strong hardware in a small body. The console was also probably under heavy load that won’t be characteristic of every game. The cooling system is there to distribute and expel the heat, not prevent it from being produced. PS5 probably produces a similar amount of heat, but maybe just distributes it more evenly with their bigger cooler. The rumor I’m complaining about is people assuming the console will overheat or die due to heat.
It gained traction because somebody reported on it being way too hot to the point it apparently noticibly changed the temperature of the room, even in standby and playing old games, I may add. I mean, considering this came from a purported hands on, coupled with the fact anyone who evidently has a hands on would logically assume to know more than most who don't, then it's fair to assume that it stands to reason that this has an modicum of credence given to it.
Of course you can take it with a pinch of salt, don't get me wrong, afterall it makes sense to be cautiously optimistic given the claims from xbox, but I wouldn't entirely disregard it either, since the tone of the reviewer didn't seem to be one that unfairly bashed the xbox; rather it shown excitement and some concern pertaining to the aforementioned contention.
Further, there's also the issue that this could present itself either down the line or within a certain batch, which would certainly be a lottery you don't want to win for the unlucky few who preorder and may have a potentially defective unit/ ticking time bomb. Again, it really isn't unfair to assume there will be issues, much like most consoles have those early adopter issues.
Lastly, the sample size is obviously way too small to ascertain if there are irrefutably no issues at all, since the thing hasn't released to a million odd perspective owners to ascertain any potential thermal and/ or other performance related issues.
Say what you want but this is absolutely impressive! Once Series X hits it's stride with exclusive titles, it's definitely gonna be a force to be reckoned with.

That's the temperature of the exhaust air heated by forced convection through the heatsink. It means that the heatsink it at an even higher temperature, and not even mentioning the temperature on the die. I would like Microsoft and Sony to include a Temperature monitor on the UI. I know chips usually handle up to 90 Celsius and more, but it does not mean it's ok.
Regarding power consumption, that's while running a backward compatible title, not a native Xbox Series X title. I wonder how much power it consumes and what temperatures it will reach.
That's fair, but, this is in direct response to journalists complaining that the system gets unbearably hot running those same backwards compatible games.
It's very efficient.
Then we find out that they didn't actually play anything on that console they tested. It was just sitting on the UI. Who knows just because they showed those stats doesn't mean they weren't edited that way. What they need to do is show an uncut video of the console with one of them playing the game longer than 4 hours and then take it's temperature.

This is an important distinction. He measured 60 degree celsius on the case. That is quite hot and probably equivalent to 80 degree celsius die temperature
Also it certainly does not peak at 62 degree Celsius since he only drew 2/3 of the maximum power in a colder season.

Just because the power supply can handle 315 or so watt doesn't mean the console will use it, especially not under sustained load (As seen in eg the current gen), so it wasn't at only 2/3 of max I'd say.
Also the fan was not noticeable, so it can probably ramp up a bit. I wouldn't worry.
Just to clarify, 62 celsius was the heatsink temperature, the case temperature was around 40 celsius. I don’t know where you got the 80 celsius from

It is hotter than the heatsink, and if you get the information of your pc temps with software, you'll read chip temps as well.
So the 60° wouldn't be comparable to the pc chip temperature.
The fact that an unsubstantiated comment about heat got enough attention to require responses like this is pretty telling of how easily misinformation spreads. Everybody was talking about how quiet and cool the Series X is like a month ago, but there are always people who want to stir up controversy. Just because it’s hotter than normal in one place doesn’t mean the thing is poorly engineered or will overheat easily.
Let's be real, it's the Sony fanboys (not normal Sony fans, but the crazy ones) that are responsible for stuff such as that 90% of the time.

Majority of the so called "gaming journalists" know nothing about the technical side of things and rely on click bait to get people to read their stories
..which is because Richard was never a journalist. He was (and still is in my mind) a great developer with a balanced understanding of game tech. I worked with him at Bullfrog 1998/99 and loved our conversations chewing over new ideas outside the office. He's still doing what he has always done, we are just fortunate now that we can all benefit from these chats :)
"Game Journalism" has resorted to pushing political agendas, strawman arguments, and pushing fake drama. Such a shame really, the work that so many here on UA-cam(and elsewhere) do, with little to no recognition is a testament of their true passion to what they love, and I salute them for it.

Shame Sony aren't doing the same for the PS5. Now everyone is calling them fanboys for talking about the Xbox since they already have one and have known everything about it for the past 6 months. Major outlets that had access to the console were talking about how cool the Series X is like a month ago, but some people still acted like it had issues. Were they just unable to accept that both sides did a good job? The One X had great cooling, and they showed us months ago in the DF tear down that they doubled down on cooling more for the Series X.
It's partly because some outlets repeated the made up news as fact.
Running cool and producing a lot of heat are two different things. XSX can run cool but produce a lot of heat because it is being taken away from the system.
I hate when people create controversy same thing happened with ps5.
I'm a PlayStation fan but I am happy that this got cleared both the consoles are great.

People need to understand that (in terms of SSDs) it's normal for NVMe SSD to get hot. In PCs you have metal radiators on the drives and they still get quite hot. And to be honest, temps for that seagate removable ssd are very reasonable for the speed and performance it can achieve.
This video actually doesn't prove anything about how hot the console runs. Just case/exhaust temps and a claim that it's silent (I'll trust them on that one).
What needs to be done is attaching a thermocouple directly to the SoC to see how hot it gets, which should be considerably higher than the 60°C exhaust air. Ideally test in a hot room to show the worst case scenario. Maybe throw in some dust to see how the cooler design copes.

@@matthewmcewen1 Go watch Austin Evans video. He literally blocks the top vent of Series X with a PS4 game case and it barely get's any warmer despite having its main exhaust severely restricted and forced to use the emergency exhaust vent at the back.

I suspect ps5 will draw more power because of higher clocks, depending on if the game is demanding, and so will need to dissipate more heat.

@@schwartzy65 That doesn't mean it runs less watts. My PC uses 600 watts and as a whole the system is cool. That's just because it's massive with a 280mm liquid cooling radiator and giant 200mm fans. That definitely keeps it cool but that doesn't mean it isn't a power hog. I'm expecting the PS5 to run lower though but only just barely. Power consumption to clock speed is a quadratic calculation so the PS5 will be far hotter per core but the Xbox has about 40% more GPU cores. Because of this I expect the PS5 to only be slightly cooler though it does have a bigger power supply so I could be wrong.
Though I think the PS5's power supply is bigger purely because of VR. I think Sony plan on running the VR off the system's power supply like a PC unlike the PS4 VR which used an extra power cable. I think PS5 VR will use the experimental 10GB/s USB port on the PS5 to both power and send data to the headset so with that overhead in mind that still allows the PS5 to use about the same power as the Xbox Series X. I think that's the most likely scenario.

A $500 complete machine with $800 of graphical performance. I’m a PC user first, but there’s absolutely no way that you can build a PC with anywhere near the specs of the Series X for this price. Absolute insanity. Amazing job, MS.

For long term investment PC is still better.
Better specs at the same price range, Zenimax added to the xbox studios roster and an overall better built and a much more efficient cooling system. I'm switching from a loud and Hot PS4 Pro CUH 7215 which was supposed to be a better versión in terms of temperature and noise. Xbox series x is simply the best option for this generación. Playstation has good exclusives but that's just not enough of a reason for me to stick with Sony. They're not consumer friendly and their online services are not as appealing as Microsoft's.

@@Psychoterratic The 360 is the reason why people say Microsoft is well known for their consoles running hot. Which isn't a lie but it's also not the whole truth because the 360 had it's share of problems, I had a red ring of death but Microsoft did stand behind their flawed design and replaced it. If a company makes up for their mistake and doesn't repeat it accusing them of the mistake as something that defines them is disingenuous imo but than again I'm a forgiving person.

@@yrh002b8 - PCs of that power come in huge cases, except for the Corsair ONE, and even that is significantly bigger the XSX, and runs hotter.
If anything, "liquid metal" aside, PS5 is the traditional PC design, which is why it's so large, like other gaming PCs. Then Sony put a fancy casing around it to make up for it, but XSX is better engineered.
I’ll be turning mine off too after every gaming session. That boot up screen and sound is just too epic not to see every time I turn it back on. 😂
Just like your games quick resume even if the console is completely unplugged from electricity, the boot up sequence does not happen either. All of the OS is set into a "quick resume" state just like your games. The only way to get the boot sequence animation is to hit "restart console" from the dashboard.
Honestly with how quickly these things switch on now, it really doesn't matter, even on my PC I switch it fully off and not standby because it powers up so quickly to not matter, it's like the same for the Xbox Series X as well.

But likewise you wont be able to put anything to the right of it when horizontal unless you want that device cooked, plus you'll need a leave a decent gap there for the exhaust. The PS5 has the advantage its still exhausting out the back with a more traditional airflow pattern that is easier to accommodate.
XSX is clearly designed first and foremost to be vertical, with horizontal more of an afterthought. That's fine for me, but you just know a lot of people are going to struggle with that concept and not leave it enough breathing room.

I am not sure if it was beacuse of fanboys, I would say it was because of people remembered RROD. It is electroincs, new one, so anything is possible. Even on PS5 side.
Well, I don't think it's because of fanboys, overheating was and is still a problem for some folks, I'm sure overheating won't be a problem for a Swede, but may be for a Brazilian, for example... also power consumption is a big factor for some folks too. Leaving aside the toxic people, this info was not useless. And that's coming from a PS user.

I see a lot of criticism from DF because of he UI display. Honestly if its true that avoiding the 4K UI will free up 1gb of RAM I rather have the 1080p UI and better looking games. Can you go more in deep if this is true ?
That is true that 4k UI will use more RAM, however the ram used will be the slower ram of the 2 different speed that Series X has, they can't used that for in-game graphics either way, and other elements like audio doesn't benefit from those freed up RAM.
4k UI using 1GB more RAM at all times than 1080p UI doesn't sound realistic. The whole UI shouldn't be needed to be saved in RAM at all times. Instead the UI elements should be able to be loadable quickly from the ssd when needed. PS4 Pro had a 4K UI and the whole operating system on the background was allocated 1.5GB out of the 9GB available. Its silly to think 1GB out of that or more would be used on 4k UI elements.
Why would a bunch of simplistic icons need 1 GB of RAM? That sounds like some damage controlling from the fanboys. Console UI is extremely simplistic and I have never heard of high resolution Windows 10 UI being that demanding even older PCs/laptops and such.
Xbox is in for a great generation this time around once the games start flowing in next year and beyond. Completely different Microsoft to 2013, it's great to see!
So far it's not looking good for sales . They sold out of the first batch of preorders but they only put out a low number of 825k. Preorder sales show that 80% of next gen preorders are for the PS5. And analysts think next gen will go exactly the same as this gen in terms of sales. Sony sold over 100 million PS4s and Microsoft sold around 40 million Xbox one's.

@@TerraWare the dead zone on the analog sticks suck ballz. If I try to play any type of 1st person game , i suck at them. When trying to use the sticks you have to press so hard on the thing that by the time the input registers, it's too much input and you over shoot your desired position.
The bumpers aren't great in my opinion either. And since xbox only had 2 games that I was interested in, there was no reason for me to be frustrated with the controllers. Factor in the games that I wanted to play eventually made it to pc (ryze son of rome and quantum break), there was really no incentive for me to deal w controller I didn't like.
I'm not trying to dog xbox. I think their online experience is better than ps4's. But between my having a pc and ps4, I don't have a desire that can't be met with the other machines.
But this is just my opinion. That's why I respect the effort of digital foundry and I respect the fact that consoles this gen are using new hardware instead of under powered version of 5 yr old pc components. But for me, Xbox is not my jam.

My pc can easily heat up my small room with the door closed, it's not uncommon. Power will need to kick out heat. The problem arises when it CAN'T kick out heat so it all gets damaged internally

do you live in a box ? unless your cpu is running at 105-110 degress non stop, tehre is no way your pc can produce that much heat......heat goes into the air and dissipate, your room must be sealed completely.

His comment was stupid, but your comparison isn't really that much better. Warm air and warm plastic/metal feel much different. Same reason you can stick your hand in a fully heated oven for about a second without issues, but you can't touch any of the metal inside. Despite the air being equally hot at that point.

@@JasonNR The reason why the rumours started about PS5 is because they are backed up by all information we've had about the console. PS5 doesn't support the full array of RDNA 2 features, that's a fact. Fanboys have tried to turn the narrative back on Xbox, but it is nonsense like the overheating story here. AMD have confirmed Series X is full RDNA 2 but has refused to comment when asked if PS5 is. We already know RDNA 2 will be using MS engineered Machine Learning and DX12U, those will not be on PS5 as they are MS features only. Even AMDs own ray tracing demo said AMD GPUs and Xbox only. Thsy doesn't mean PS5 won't have ray tracing, but they are using their own custom hardware/software.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed. If the skin/exhaust temperature of the system is low, its not because its "well cooled", it's because it is insulating the heat. A well cooled machine would have a higher exhaust temperature because it would be more efficient at removing heat from the system

When did they compare the PS5 to XSX? In this video obviously the comparison to Xbox One X makes sense as its running the same game code, would make no sense to compare it to anything else.

The power of vapor chambers. They are more expensive than a shit ton of copper like the PS5 has but they are really effective. It's why most GPUs have them today.

@@kratosatreus5085 it has more copper to spread the heat but copper carries heat far worse than a vapor chamber. It's massively better. The average vapor chamber can conduct 100kw/(meter × kelvin) vs rae copper which only carries about 0.4kw(m × k). That is a huge advantage for the Xbox.
Plus the PS5 is still using a blower fan just a double thick one as the consoles intakes are on both ends. Blower fans tend to be louder and less efficient than axial fans due to the nature of turbulence they make and the fact air intake is from the sides as airflow drops in half with every tight angle required. That's why laptops tend to be so loud as they physically can't fit axial fans period but we basically only use axial fans for personal use.
The PS5 definitely uses the cheaper cooling solution. They system likely doesn't need as much cooling as it has 40% less GPU cores but considering the entire thing is clocked 20% higher and the clock speeds to power ratio is quadratic I expect both systems to be similarly power hungry. The Xbox is just better engineered while the PS5 was designed for mass production over function. It's why cheaper GPUs tend to use more raw copper vs higher end ones which use vapor chambers and 8 heat pipes.
@@Skylancer727 Despite bothering to write a whole wall of text on the topic you seem to not know that those heat pipes are not just copper, it is the same technology inside as a vapor chamber but the latter has just better directionality when dissipating heat. Sony's engineers said the shape and airflow of the heatsink gives it a vapor chamber like performance and I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. Overall with liquid metal cooling, an enormous heatsink, a thick double sided fan and large vents on the console, PS5 will be much better at dissipating heat an on a larger area so it will feel colder to the touch especially considering users will only touch the white outside panels. That being said XBX's slow SSD probably doesn't produce nearly as much heat as PS5 SSD so the temperatures might be closer despite more effective cooling solution.
@@weaverquest I know it uses heat pipes, but heat pipes aren't as effective as vapor chambers. They have less flat surfaces and don't disperse heat is as varied directions which does matter as the chamber is bigger than the chip and therefore pulls the heat better from the center of it where the heat traps most.
Also while the fan is double sided it is still a blower fan with intakes from the sides and air flow cuts in half for every right angle they take. That's why PC cases that intake from the bottom are so bad. The air has to make a right turn to get into the case and then another to get into the fans in the front plus the air gaps is smaller making even less air make it to the fans. The PS5 is the same as it only has slits for intake and a thin channel for that air to get to the fan. Plus the air also has to make a right turn getting out of the heat fins to get out of the system so expect the fan to spin fairly fast. Plus while it is a 120mm fan, that doesn't matter as much as it's a blower fan so air is blown from the side. That's just intake for the diameter. It is better than the about half a centimeter the PS4 had for air to flow through but it is only about 1 inch for the air to flow through. Plus at work we have basically a foot sized blower fans for cooling down trailers pulling up to the building and they are still really loud even with dual intake vents. Just since they are on the wall it is better than an axial fan.
I do expect the PS5 to feel cooler to the touch though as it is basically triple layered and the system is just bigger. You have the copper fins and heat pipes where the heat is carried, the metal chassis, and then on top of that the plastic walls that don't even directly touch the metal. There's probably very little heat that will make it through.
Only heat issue I'd worry about is that m.2 slot as it is sealed with no airflow nor a supplied heat sink. Considering the PS5 requires at least a 5.5GB/s SSD that could be a problem and we know for a fact Sony haven't really tested it as no SSDs of those speeds existed until just as of a week ago. The one on the board will be directly cooled by the heat sink but the m.2 won't be.
All you Sony Fanboys worried about XSX cooling. Yet, Sony just came out to same they will be optimizing cooling for the PS5 based on data. Lol. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, I thought it was already running VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY COOL and VEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERY QUIET. Lol

I don't think they're trying to hide anything. They're just going a different way about it. As much as I want to see the PS5 in action the main reason why I wish that Sony had sent out units for review is to stop all their radical fans from accusing channels who review gaming hardware for reviewing the Series X which was sent to them by the manufacturer. They're doing their jobs and even providing benchmark and temperature numbers and it's still not enough.

People love to exaggerate just how much heat a device can dump. Take my PC overclocked Intel CPU + a 3080. The power consumption is high high and so much heat energy gets dumped out of case, but it's not enough to keep me warm in the winter in a small little room! and it's not even cold yet in London.

While it might be true that raytracing and better optimized games might increase power draw and heat output, if you can't even hear the fan there is certainly enough headroom for turning it up a bit if necessary.

@@evilformerlys4704 ROFL!!!! average 60c running current next gen games that he literally just showed is below what I see in my PC and that is the XSX @ 1440p 120 fps pushing both CPU and GPU so no that is a fair test. On my 2080 super I hit 70c playing any game that uses the GPU to 100% add in RT and DLSS using all Tensor cores aswell the temp goes up by just 5c to a total of around 75c. XSX is literally running cool especially when you consider this is custom DESKTOP CPUs and GPUs. These will always run hot even with god cooling if you think PS5 is going to be any different from this you are sadly in for a rude awaking. PS5 has an extremely overclocked GPU that thing will put out more heat than what has been shown here in the XSX mark my words.

If you don't want a console to generate that much heat, get the XBox Series S or stick with the older generation. Sony's system will also generate heat too, and if it is effective at dispelling the heat, the vents will be hot too, if not, the console itself will be hotter, which is bad.

I have owned every Sony console since 1996. PS 5's ability for any player to submit a voice recording of someone else to Sony is unacceptable. Being always recorded can also leave an open door to hackers. It won't be the first time Sony got hacked and those hackers will now have access to users' private conversations and data that PS 5 will now automatically record at all times.. Changes to TOS , where Sony can sell our private data to any company is atrocious . I will buy Xbox Series X over PS 5 and sell my PS4 in the process. It is also a matter of principle. I do not agree with the terms of the new TOS and I vote with my wallet on this one. PS 5 contoller has a built in Mic, don't take it to the restroom, or the bedroom for that matter.

62°C is 144°F. (This was running easy, last gen games not pushing the consol hard at all.) 80°C (176°F) is when the chip is in danger of being damaged over time. That is only 18°C (32°F) away from what he recorded. Once the system is running next gen games you can expect the recorded temperature to be decently higher than running easy, last gen games. Depending on the title being played, and if you're playing online or not, the temperature could easily be around 80°C. Possibly higher if it's really being pushed by an advanced game.

Gears 5 is a 1st party game which takes full advantage of the Newer Xbox Series X hardware at least to the extent that it can without having been built from the ground up for the Series X, and yet despite all that We See graphical settings above Pc Max ultra, and yet its outperforming Rtx 2080ti in this particular Title, and again this is only an optimized Game which wasn’t even built specifically for the Series X, and so if we’re seeing this type of graphics, and performance capabilities already We can expect far more impressive results later into the generation once devs learn how to take full advantage of the newer hardware, and start building game’s from the ground up for the Series X as that’s when we’ll see some extremely impressive Next Gen Game’s!

Yakuza devs seem to have left a lot of power, and performance on the table not pushing the graphics, and performance optimizations anywhere near the full potential of the Xbox Series X which is why the power draw for that game is so low as it’s just not pushing the system very hard at all which explains the lower 1440p 60fps as opposed to pushing full 4K 60fps which the Xbox Series X is absolutely capable of delivering when devs push the system to its full capabilities!
That’s sort of what we can expect though at least at or near launch because devs haven’t yet had the time to put in maximum developmental effort in these early launch game’s, and We all know how Consoles work as when they first launch they’ve got graphics, and performance which isn’t anywhere near the their true potential, and then by the end of a generation the graphics, and performance devs are getting from the hardware is vastly superior than what we see early on, and that’s because they need time to learn how to use the hardware to its fullest, and they need time to develop newer more efficient software tools, etc
Consoles Don’t go backwards in terms of their graphics, and performance but instead they continually push forward as the graphics, and performance of Consoles keep getting better, and better the older they get which is why Consoles are so impressive!

i use the note 6, i don't use my phone for gaming or anything like that, to me it's a phone. and we all know a note 6 could do that in spades.
62C in completely open environment is poor. So you can't put it in any kind of close environment or those will get to 70-80C over a a few hours use and your Series X will be kaput in 1-2 years. A further consideration is this is before any truly next-gen games have pushed it's limits. Most people who buy one are not going to do their research and will put them in enclosed spaces. Prepare for lots of whinging in 1-2 years.
The max temp my series X hit was 40c during a 12 hr play time in a room temp of 68F, my PC threadripper build runs same temps, my Xbox one X same game would hit 50C max so a big drop in temps am also sound I can't even hear my series X while my Xbox one X was noticable

So far the PS5 has had the best looking games. We’ve seen halo infinite and dirt 5 on the series X. Both are underwhelming

That was the CUH 7200 model. It was the quietest but also the hottest.
Simply put.... the Xbox Series X is a "FAR" better built & Engineered Console from every single detail of the console , it also being small & quit , compared to the PS5 .
Then on top of every single feature the Series X has to offer with Machine learning, VRR ,VRS , Volken , Velocity Architecture, DLSS, CU count , clock speeds , Graphics .
Its an amazing console .
The PS5 truly seems like it was just thrown together with a bit of Engineering here & there. Especially when compared to Xbox series X where EVERY single detail on the Series X seems like it was meticulously Engineered to make sure it was small , quite & Powerful

This spiel that XBOX has No exclusive titles is Old. I can sit here & list about 20 Exclusive titles for series X.... Based on the documentation you received with your "preview" unit - you know the rez of the UI is not final - it says so right in the verbiage. Anyway, anything they hold back to support the extra rez is going to come at the cost of whatever they let developers use for games (the OS is always running and waiting to be called up at a moment's notice), so I choose 1080p UI and more resources for games, even if it's minor difference (only so much ram, etc., so a little more for the devs will please them, especially that iD guy who wanted 32GB of RAM!).

Hey Richard, may I ask how you figured out that the Xbox Series X's power supply has a capacity of 315W? I see that it outputs 12V up to 21,25A, but that only equals to 255W. An answer would be greatly appreciated!

@@AzaiaMonota I realise that, but I wonder how he got that number. The PSU does not specify its wattage and if you calculate it based on its voltage and current, it ends up at 255W instead of 315W.
@@XDLugia You also need to include the 5v rail in your calculations, the console PSU outputs primarily 12v, but it also has a 5v rail for USB and standby power and possibly other things, it may also have a 3.3v rail, all of which would equate to the missing 60w. :)

Are you not best testing this when there’s games actually pushing the hardware? I mean on the PS4 pro games like god of war are where you start hearing the noise but we all no that isn’t the same for every game. My point is you are using current gen/bc games for test surly wait for the next gen games that actually push the hardware? This seems pointless
