In this short we wanted to share a simple way to simulate having a slow motion camera. In this video we'll be using Haley and Hazen as models and showing the technique with Optical Flow, a technique similar to Twixtor.

This channel should have more suscribers, the quality of the videos and the value is really high. Thank you
My favourite survivol expert Hazen.
Rob that was very interesting and useful. I sure do look forward to each video you post. Love the content and info. Thanks!
+USNERDOC - Sweet. Glad you liked it. Thanks.
I've always wanted to recreate a high speed camera look! And I've used optical flow before, but never thought about bringing all the way down to 1%! Thanks for the tips!
+JMB330 - Having played around with it a bit, I really like anywhere from 1-2 percent playback the best. Thanks for the comment.
This could be a great trick for underwater shots like octopus catching a crab. Thanks
I have a GH4 that shoots 96fps for slowmotion, but what you show here looks even better.....crazy. I don't have FCP but I am interested what you would get with this FCP technique and a 96fps GH$ slomo file....must be like a RX100 slowmotion clip probably.
This is awesome! :)
I actually work with (real) high speed cameras in the lab and I'd considered making some little program to in-between frames from video to imitate that effect as a little project. Good to know it already exists :p
+Draw Curiosity and it's so easy... Looking forward to your drawing channel!
Rob & Jonas' Filmmaking Tips Thanks! :)
(it will be a science channel! with a little bit of animation)
Great video Rob! I would love to have Final Cut... Maybe we get it because it allows so much more cool editing than iMovie that we have now. Take care! /Malin
+RAN Sailing It is worth the investment. iMovie is a great program but with major limitations when you start getting serious. Sure it costs some money but honestly it isn't that much in comparison to many other similar programs. We say do it! :-) /Jonas
Very nice - what camera/lens did you use to record yourself as you sat at the computer and worked with Optical Flow.
+Jeff Sibelius - I was using the Canon 5D Mark III
If you have a big green screen will optical flow work well on objects in front of it?
Interesting work around as although i use my iphone 6 for slo mo close ups this technique adds extra options. Thanks! a.t.b. Vee
+Wildsoul Vee - A great way to use optical flow is to start shooting at high rates. The higher the better. That way the program has more frames to work with and it'll look much better. I wanted to show what it could do with a mere 60 FPS shot. The iphone or the gopro is a great way to go though!
great video, very informative
Thanks for the video. I see what you are doing. Would you say that higher shutter speed results in less morphing?
exactly! Keep that shutter speed high!
52Things: Rob & Jonas: I will definitively try this with DaVinci Resolve. Hope that works, too. Thanks again
can you suggest any software for windows that have this optical flow effect.
sorry for the late comment, hope for your reply :)
Wow thanks a lot!!
Can you use premiere pro for optical flow
Is this possible on after effects??
you can use gopro studio flux (free)
Great...thank you..
