  • All new and redesigned Commencal Meta V5 T-Type Chalk. Full 29er, 160/150 travel. This is the top of the line build and in my opinion Commencal nailed it! This is what you get straight out of the box for $6200 USD. Stay tuned for two more videos to follow with this bike. Up next will be the ride review and finishing things off with an exciting announcement for those local to Southern California.

    Following :) My 14-year-old son rides for Commencal Australia and we recently built him up a custom Meta V5 in glittery black. It's a great bike so far. He's very impressed - though there is a little more noise from the rear triangle than we'd like (we're still working on that). According to a friend of ours who had an early prototype that he raced in EDR world cups this year, most of the Commencal Enduro Project riders run their bikes in the high position most of the time. I know they also run 170mm forks, but they seem to think it pedals better in that position, and with 28% sag, and fairly open compression/rebound settings for most tracks. I'd be interested to know your thoughts swapping between low and high. Good luck with it, and enjoy!

      That's awesome about your son riding for Commencal Australia. First ride was simply getting acquainted with the bike. Getting more miles on it tomorrow and this coming weekend. Will definitely pay close attention what you've mentioned as well as the high/low setting. thanks for chiming in

    I was hoping you would do a review of this bike. I want to buy this bike but need feedback on how good it is. I got the Meta TR after watching your video on it. The bike is great and you did a great review of it. I am leaning heavy towards getting a V5.

      Im glad I get the opportunity to review it. I’ll got into a lot more detail in my review video soon but for now, after the first ride (13miles) I can honestly say the V5 combines the best characteristics of the TR and the AM. Feels like a trail bike but when the time comes to switch from fun to business- it does! Great climber also. But yea, a few more rides and I’ll have the complete review up. Appreciate the support

    I'd be interested if I hadn't seen all the broken frame posts on the Commencal owners FB page. It's ridiculous how many frames break. I'm in the owners threat of Propain, YT, Transition and Canyon too. Canyon is also a mess but the others have nowhere near as many issues

      @MILTONATOR  10 місяців тому +2

      Hi there, from my personal experience - I’m a long time Commencal fan (7yrs owned 5-6 different metas) and didn’t experience any such issues. I’m also a member of the Commencal owners fb group and just spent 10-15 mins searching for cracked frames and found a few but mostly older bikes. But I get what you’re saying, last year I was interested in Canyon and after scrolling through the owners fb group, I decided against it because of all the cracked frames being reported

    The big change is the one less covered... the new Frame due to the totally redesigned rear suspension system. Replacing AM and TR approaches? What do you think, after riding both in the past?

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  7 місяців тому +1

      Commencal’s new virtual contact system is a significant improvement. In my opinion the climbing is much better (more supportive) and there’s no need to lock out the shock at anytime. And going down, the bike feels very well balanced and grounded. I didn’t get a chance to weigh the bike, but the geometry makes it feel light weight and easy to ride. I personally prefer the v5 over any other prior version

    $6200.00 dollars. Well worth-it. In this economy rich always get more, there is no way I'm paying 6200, for a bike, that probably has a hundred-dollar, made-in-China, frame, and a 900 percent mark-up, of the actual price. Is it any wonder why no small bike shops exist in my home city. 6200 dollars. I been riding for 38 years, never owning a car. No way would I spend that much, not even 2000, on a bicycle. Not even Glenn Curtiss, would approve.

      My friend, bikes are a lifestyle. I make the time to make the money to afford these bikes because it’s what I enjoy and bring me fulfillment. I’m not rich my any means but mtb is what I love so I’ll make a way to get the bike I want. Yes you are correct but don’t assume all bikers are like that because I’m just like you that dedicated a part of my self to this sport and so do many others

    Curious to here what you think about the tyres. I believe in the straight line they're good. But through the turns you have to lean the bike a lot to gain grip. ( i had this problem with the dhf on front)

    compare to ripmo

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  8 місяців тому

      From my experience the Ripmo is a bit more agile and more maneuverable but when the ride gets fast and rough, the Meta v5 feels more capable (the Ripmo v2 geo could use an upgrade. My opinion)
