I don't know why but catching a otter has always been a hard thing to do at times and easy at other times I think some of them travel more than others and they are naturally shy of human intrusion in their territory and circle and square shy and not to mention can smell human scent for 2 days or more you have to leave a great temptation and remove all suspicion or place a trap in a place that he will never be able to see until it's got his ass eather way otter is a challenge thanks for the video Dale and the more traps you set the better chance you have of getting him to step in one and always stand a chance of a double because they usually are together
I treat them all the same David. Just an animal. Only thing with otter is that I can pick the place, he picks the time. You never know when they're going to come back through. So it's if the utmost importance to keep sets working. In the south it's a little easier to do that than it is in the north
Dale im brand new at this started watching your vide and hrs what I got.Otters in my pond so I got a 330 trap and have no idia how to set this thing any advice would be appreciated
Stacey if you can find any trails leading in or out if the ood set it there so the otter passes through the trap. Make sure you set it in the water to follow the laws of your state. Stabilize it well with sticks in between the springs so it doesn't get tipped over. If I can be of any help feel free to message or call me 319-217-0655
Great video! I like your no-nonsense approach. Why do you advocate the use of the #11 trap? Your beaver bait stick video was a real eye opener for me. Thanks!!!
I love the 11s Greg. Power house of a trap. I've literally held everything in it. Coon beaver otter fox coyote bobcat. If it steps in the 11 it's caught. I appreciate you watching thank you
Otter are nothing more than a water wolf. They will kill eats and young beaver both. Plus Charlie Dobbins claimed they would go out of their way to kill every mink they could smell. Yes they all live in the same places. Otter are roamwrs though. They cover large territory. Thanks for watching Ben
They won't avoid the 220 but they avoid the spot. So I move my conibears up or down the trail. Doesn't have to more than 18-24 inches but move it . Thanks for watching Jesse. I appreciate it
i have found a few otter crossovers like that for this season . going to gang set the stuffing out of them the way you explained it . i was thinking about using #4 coil springs because of both beaver and otter using the same crossover . going to be using a lot of your tips this season .
Males otter normal travel alone and females have their young of the season with them. I seen up to 3 young with the female. That is why it is best to gang set.
👍
Thank you butterfly viking
Gotta watch old Ed . He proved to me there were otters in my area . Have caught several since .
Yea he'll sneak right in on some crossovers you didn't think anyone else knew about Dave. I appreciate you watching pal

Would they avoid a 220 with a catch in it like a burn circle, or not as bad?
They won't avoid the 220 but they avoid the spot. So I move my conibears up or down the trail. Doesn't have to more than 18-24 inches but move it . Thanks for watching Jesse. I appreciate it
