I surely do appreciate all your videos Dale. Ya might not know it, or maybe don’t wanna know it yet, but you’ve hit legendary status. At least in my book. 👍🏻 I’d love to hit a fall line with you one day.

All these videos of yours sure got me thinking nothing but trapping season. I sure do love your videos buddy . You sure are putting out a lot of knowledge. Thanks again for your video's!!
Good stuff Dale ! There has never been an otter in that pond that didnt get on that point/jetty ! They are like a shoe store to a woman . . . . they gotta go there !
I'm super glad that Paul (Montana Wolf Trapper) turned me on to your channel. He wasn't kidding when he said you have a ton of knowledge. Thank you for sharing.
Dale those are some interesting sets , I started to trap them in the state of MA when I lived there , I had a old time furbuyer and trapper taught me how to trap them on blind sets, now I trap them here in Iowa also. What I found on blind sets is that if you catch a female in that one set you will keep catching them in it or the same with a male , I mean no lure or bait. and normally you will keep catching them year after year in that one spot,. Also found you can use just beaver castor to get them where they come out of the water with a trap in front. What one trap from CT told me was think as a otter as a over grown mink. They have mainly the same habits ., Just that like you said for the time they will show up in that one spot. I have caught them in 220 and 330 . no problems , also footholds that I normal use for coyote sets . Thank you for show what you willing to shear to help others and give me some ideas also.
Thanks Paul. I hope i helped just a bit. I appreciate your insight on otter as well. Thank you. And thank you for taking time to watch the video, I really appreciate it
Loving your videos Dale! I discovered your channel a few days ago, and I've about watched almost all your videos. Excellent otter taking advice here! I tried the buckets with 220s this last season for the first time, and I didn't have any luck. I did have a few set off traps, but never got an otter in a 220 bucket set. I am determined to make it work better this season. I know it does work, because I've seen otter taken like this. I figure I am just doing something wrong. Do you use bait in your buckets in combination with a lure?? What kind of trigger are you running (cut off, bent a certain way)? I tried using blue gill wired to the back, and I even took some rubber crawfish and tied them to the back of the bucket. I also tried a little otter lure on the lip of the bucket. I know otter investigated because I caught several in foothold close by the buckets, but none of them committed to the bucket. One thing I did notice is you arent painting your buckets....I dip mine in formula one to dull them down......
I bend the wires in slightly. And yes i wire either gizzard shad or carp up in the back of the bucket. I also run a lure on the lip of the bucket. An no i dont paint them dull them any way. I appreciate you taking the time to watch my videos.
good tips on the otter sets . what would be your number one choice for a set that might take an otter or beaver at the same crossover ?most of my crossovers have mostly beaver with otter every once in a while . i was using #2 square jaw to cover that set up , but lost a few beaver to toe catches . i use TS85's and duke 850's but want one that would be otter pelt friendly . the 850's can mess up an otter pelt caught high and don't drown quick , rubbing on the levers . the pocket set looked great , i will try it this way .
Gizzard shad, carp then catfish heads in that order. You wont have to refreshen it. If you haven't made a catch in 3 days you need to be moving because theres nothing there to catch
If you've got a trail coming out of water, going out about 10 to 15 yards then circling back into the water basically forming a semicircle. Is that otter behavior?
Good video. I live in Arkansas. I am a nuisance control trapper. I try to read and watch trapping video's in the summer. So i am thinking about it 365. I do some summer time coon and coyote trapping also. Could u do a video later on about sothern snaring coyotes and beaver. If u come south this fall. I cut my teeth on snaring beaver. First animal i snared was beaver. I enjoy all your video's.
Ozark Trapper i appreciate it very much. Yes i sure can do a beaver and coyote snaring video. I'm fixing to come back to Arkansas this winter in January. I haven't been there in 16 years . But this year im coming. I trapped in Desha County for 12 years. I sure miss it down there. Thanks again.

I picked up alot of fur on them 2 sets.
Never caught an otter, not even on accident. We are just starting to get them here. Mainly the Big Blue River and the Little Blue. Maybe someday it will happen. Only one big buck mink, on accident in 330 trapping beaver.
