    I have to say I disagree on the price point and quality of WA products. The packaging is quite luxurious when compared to other products, and they blend so much better than a lot of other cream check products I’ve tried! You might like the pan highlighter a little bit better for showing up when not in direct sunlight. Thanks for your always honest review,

    I agree completely with your comments about us getting used to paying a price for something and adjusting our sense of worth to match that. I have fallen into that trap with WA and realized while watching this video that I have a surprising number of their products…I do love them, but it’s alarming how much $ it all adds up to :/

      I finally unfollowed WA and Gucci herself on Insta after they launched a candle that retails for $127 CAD. I don't need to see a founder's fancy holidays and realize that I'm paying for them. There's a point in every luxury brand where you see that it's just a cash grab by the founder and that candle was the tipping point for me. I bought way too much of their stuff during covid and am done now.

    The cream bronzer in biscuit is my favorite makeup product of all time. I got it to replace my milk makeup which started to expire and look orange after a while. I just take my stipple brush into the stick the same I would into a pot and then go in on my face. You don't need to take a stick and go in on the face directly!

    Love the video Rudi! The WA products are so easy to dupe! Rose inc. has a highlighter called glazed $30 that is the same as peau de peche that is $75. The Sephora SClean bouncy eyeshadow palette is $18 for 6 shades and the WA pods are $88 for 3 shades and they are the same! It’s crazy totally agree with you.

    Appreciate the honest review as I’ve been interested in this line for some time now. I did buy a mini baby cheek today at Sephora, but I didn’t see or feel any sort of high-end quality that I see in other similar products. I’m loving the Merit line at the moment. Also, enjoy the Hour Glass skin veil and mascara

    One thing I noticed with this brand is how much coconut oil is used. Coconut oil is highly comedogenic. It doesn’t break me out, but it could be the reason for you.

    The day they come out with mini blushes, I will have my collection complete! I just can't spend that much on a full size since you need so little. It would definitely expire before I could finish it.

    1) Wish I had your review about 2 months ago when I bought the blush stick for $50+ with tax because yes to everything!! On that note:
    2) Tarte Sugar Rush Beach Cheeks Cream Blush in Ocean Girl (Rosy Pink) is nearly the exact same color as the WA blush stick I got in Petal. I paid $10 on sale at Ulta for the Tarte blush too. The Tarte not only lasts longer, but doesn't pick up my makeup underneath like the WA
    😵‍💫

    I am sorry that you feel this way about WA products. Her products work really well for me and the contour stick you are talking about is quite beautiful and blends like a dream, you picked the wrong colour and the blushes are gorgeous especially the hot pink one Poppet. This is a real clean brand, she uses very high end packaging that preserves the products and what I appreciate from WA is that she truly makes these products using high quality ingredients. Gucci Westman did not create this brand to over charge because she's a celeb makeup artist. I wish before you trash a brand to research. This brand is not for everyone but I feel like you are not appreciative of the ingredients and the packaging which is not cheap to make. I actually doubt she is even making a lot of profit. She cares about her products and what she puts out there, mad respect for that.

    Wondering if your opinion on any of these changed? I've been eyeing the mini highlighter in Nectar and the mini blush in Dou Dou and Petal (swatched really quickly in store - was shocked to see they had some samples on a tiny display near the cash). We are pretty close in skin tone so wondering how you feel a year later. I don't wear base products except pore-filling primer since I like my natural skin texture and can't be bothered to figure out base products if that changes anything. Thanks!

    I really enjoyed this review! Your take on the comparable effects of cheaper products is valuable and appreciated. I do want to say that I think your take on price isn't totally accurate -- I looked at the skin tint from Summer Fridays and it looks awesome! But compare the ingredients side by side with WA and it's clear why WA would charge so much more - her ingredients are premium. The first few are: squalene, water, avo oil, pomegranate oil ... compared to Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Isododecane, Diethylhexyl Carbonate, Isohexadecane, Polyglyceryl-4 Diisostearate/Polyhydroxystearate/Sebacate... and so on.

    I think it probably broke you out because it has so many oils in its formulation, it has avocado oil as third ingredient!! The first one is Squalane (which is usually okay for most acne-prone people) then water, then avocado oil, das thicc. Every time they launch something I kinda want it, the aesthetic of it, the luxe vibes, but it is never gonna work for me, and that is an issue I have with anything that leans towards "clean beauty" they add so many oils and emollients, that will most likely break me out. I think that... perhaps in the way in which is formulated they still (most of these "clean" brands) cater towards an older audience who would benefit from having those oils in their makeup, & not only an older more mature range of people, but I think they have in mind people who live in the Northern side of the hemisphere (& okay some of Australia) but broadly people based in more temperate/cold climates. Which again, rules me out. Is not for everybody, and it's not supposed to be.

  • @myskinterest7840

    Omg THE Westman Atelier video!!! Okay you know I love their products but I will say the skin tint was the first product I literally ever returned to Sephora (and I've been a Rouge member since forever). For me, the foundation stick is worth the price because it's SO hydrating and pairs well with everything - and lasts forever. While I have always loved the blush sticks and the contour stick, I really hate how expensive they are (though the packaging makes up for it a little). Agree with you on the minis though, I think its actually impossible for an average makeup user to get through the full sized stick products before they expire.

    Adding skincare to makeup is really just adding more ingredients people can react to, why can't makeup be makeup? Especially at this price point. Squalane is the NUMBER ONE ingredient in the Westman Atelier skintint...but why? It's an acnegenic (acne causing) ingredient for many. And it has so many different oils which don't play nicely for so many people. I expect a pricey product to be less problematic, no idea what they were thinking.

    • @dianarusnov292
      @dianarusnov292 Рік тому +1

      But squalane isn't comedogenic I thought?

    • @gwendolinehall1386
      @gwendolinehall1386 Рік тому +1

      @@dianarusnov292 it can be better and lighter than other oils, but it is a common acnegenic ingredient. I follow noBSBeauty and for every review she notes all the acnegenic ingredients, like fatty alcohols, vitamin E, oils like coconut. Edit to clarify comedogenic is not a 1:1 equation for causing acne for acne prone people. Lots of ingredients trigger acne in people, they may technically be considered less comedogenic but it still causes acne in many people nonetheless.

    • @dianarusnov292

      @@gwendolinehall1386 Ah thanks for clarifying!

    • @gwendolinehall1386
      @gwendolinehall1386 Рік тому

      @@dianarusnov292 it's a really good question and I wish more people would cover the topic! It can be really difficult figuring out what comedogenic/acnegenic mean and then figure out what ingredients to watch out for! And quantity! Not everything with squalane is bad. I recently got the Live tinted hueglow highlighter, I loved the highlight it gave but it broke me out so badly! Its first ingredient is squalane and I think that's what was breaking me out. It really seems the most trouble when it's super high in the ingredients list for me and I know a lot of people that break out from squalane too, it's such a shame bc it can be so helpful for formulations. Though I will say the hueglow didn't dry down very well and was a bit greasy, not my favorite finish. However Saie glowy supergel is the reigning highlighting champ for me but it still has squalane! Just way down on the list! It's so complicated but a fascinating topic!

      Lord knows I don't want to start defending a millionaire brand founder but maybe she just really knows her target market? So when a product is $68 ($88 in Canada) it may be designed for an older consumer. Ergo, the truckload of sweet sweet squalene for old-lady dry skin (and I say that as an old lady with dry skin! 😝) I mean, Sisley tinted moisturizer is $160...
