In Brazil, we don't call him Ronaldo, we just call him 'O Fenomeno', 'The Phenomenon'. He truly was a phenom out there on the field. So glad that I got to see him, and remember his great skills in that 2002 World Cup. Incredible talent... like a bolt of lightning

I remember in 1998, brazil vs denmark, a world cup match. Denmark destroyed my country Nigeria in the previous round and i hated them (on pure footballing level) for that. Then they met RONALDO and Brazil in the quarters. That match will live forever in my memory. Ronaldo played like an angry beast against Denmark. His touches, dribbling, strength and 2 assists were truly phenomenon in that match. After that game, i rated him above every humans from any profession in the world. He is truly a PHENOMENON.
We will never see someone with half of his skills again in this planet.

I remember when he was in his prime, he was unbelievable, there was no youtube or anything like that so when you had the chance to watch a game featuring Ronaldo you almost didn't want to blink because you knew you were watching something special. He never played for a team that I supported so I still remember that feeling of jealousy for not having a player that could control and touch the ball the way he did. He would just glide through the field and the ball would listen to his every command.

At the prime of his career, once he got the ball you can notice 3-4 players tried to close him down. His acceleration, dribbling, feint and shooting(with both legs) was godly. The real Ronaldo.

Both players have the same athleticism, speed and creativity; perhaps Ronaldo has fancier tricks and dribbles, while Pele can use the movements of his opposition a bit better to his advantage. Still after his two knees operations,he won a W Cup and was great playing for Real Madrid. He did accomplished more than any player after his injuries. Any other would quit the game after that second tragedy game when his knee almost popped out. Still remember as if was today,was his first game after recovering from the first big one. I was 100% sure he would never play again,he came back and won the W Cup.

Best ever player for me. I remember the first time I watched him in Confed 1997 game against Czech Republic. My parents were just talking about him and I was really curious to see this player who had a similar name to mine. I was only 8 years old and was blown away. I liked soccer but after I watched this guy, I started loving it and following it. I even said I wanted to play for Brazil even though I am not from there. It's always inspirational to see how he overcame his injuries.

I was lucky to have my teenage life in the 90's, where I could watched R9 at his prime. I have never seen a player like him, he's above everyone else to this day.
I remember watching him in the Brazilian league in 1993, at just 16, and the stuff he did there was beyond insane. He was absolutely dominant from the get-go. It was like he was playing against kindergarten kids, yet he was just a 16 year-old rookie! I really wished he had played at least one game in the 1994 world cup.

Look at how Ronaldo came back from injury and DOMINATED World Cup 2002 with all these decisive goals through almost every game. Ronaldo the Phenomenon, what can I say more than the comments of his colleagues. He is the biggest inspiration for my Kids now, who want to be like him. I have been watching football from the 80's, I have never seen a complete player like the phenomenon. The passion for the game, no cheating and faking like some so called heroes we have here, the speed, control , execution, dribbling, shooting and scoring with both feet, and just loving life. He truly is the Number one influence for young players.

You could watch a match with Ronaldo9 playing just to see his magic, art , dribbling skills, power in his two legs, strength, speed , persistence, assists to others. If you wanted to his goals, you gotta it , he would show you how skillful he would score his goals. His goals were scored with style as well. Who can do that today? Today we have strikers like CR7, Luiz Suares, Levandowsky, Aubenyang, Cavani, Diego Costa etc.... All these guys have not done 1% that the real Ronaldo has done his career as a striker. We do not yet have a player we can call a strike. All we have are big deceivers !

Ronaldo is the greatest footballer I've ever had the pleasure to witness. 1997 through 2013 was my happiest time watching football. Now all of my favorite footballers are retired, leave me with lesser world class super stars who are over hyped and over paid compared to their more talented predecessors.
