These interviews you're recording will add to our collective ballet historical record. It was a real coup on your part to score an interview with Robert Barnett, one of ballet's elder statesmen. I never saw Tanaquil Leclerq dance, but I had read quite a bit about her. Good job!
You can see her in these short clips ua-cam.com/video/OYHzMxq3wrY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/61rumFiNKAY/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/WoTvY_h9WFM/v-deo.html
@@meganfairchild6135 , Yes and funny I was thinking about this last week., the film about Tanaquil , Afternoon of a Faun . When I saw that film years ago I thought it was frightening but also what a strong woman she was.......with all of this chaos today we are all finding strength and peace within.
In the film about Tanaquil , it said that many dancers got the vaccine before the tour but she decided to wait because she that it might make her feel sick
@@juliecaprio6979 What a strong woman she was to reject the Salk vaccine which would have prevented her from contracting polio! Maybe she was just stupid. I have a photo of Pat Wilde (I think) getting the polio vaccine backstage at City Center in 1956.
@@meganfairchild6135 Please do! Mr. Barnett was such an influence to myself and so many others. I talk to my students about him, but hearing him talk about his life in his own voice is so much more powerful.

my goodness. Thanks for interviewing these incredible ballet giants.. Indeed, you are building a ballet archive.. Priceless!!
I have really enjoyed all of your interviews, especially the series with Robert Barnett. Can't wait for the next one!
Thanks Megan! Tanny was a precious jewel and it is great to hear more about her life.
What a wonderful interview. Many thanks!
Really enjoying these interviews. I worked briefly with Robert Barnett.
These are SO good. Love! Can you do one with Marc Happel : )
Yes I heard that Tanaquil didn't want the vaccine before the tour.
Such a strange timely thing to discuss...

Was the vaccine yet available at that time? I thought it wasn’t until later.

I've enjoyed this series with Robert Barnett immensely. I wish that you could do his entire life's story.
Thinking about posting the interview in full...

Megan misses alot of follow up questions.
It's a small clip of a much longer interview.
You don't interrupt a legend.
@@browneyes142a I think she is a great interviewer.
@@tangomz7070 please note I was not the one saying otherwise. :)
@@browneyes142a I was agreeing with you.
