NITHYA365 kinda hard to do that now that everyone is always fucking hating on a new artist because they’ll “take over” the charts. Honestly we need to stop giving music industries the clout they want.
Yeah, and Lorde too, IMO. Adele really just sounds authentic and her style sounds old, but modern. She does it really well, but should change it up a little bit too as long as she doesn’t get rid of the elements that made her unique
Nicki Minaj whether you like her or not, was a big part of the early 2010’s with songs like starships and super bass and continued to be a big part. In my opinion, she definitely made contributions to pop music
Romandy Same! I like Bruno’s earlier music because he seemed more like himself, but now he’s just repackaging Jackson five and other 80’s/90s music and putting his face on it and it’s like... Bruno doesn’t have to do this, he has the talent to be his own artist but 🤷🏾♂️
"Pop music had been completely eclipsed over the last few years by rap music." Oh thank god I wasn't going crazy. I don't listen to as much new music as I used to but whenever I did I was confused as to why Pop music wasn't really "poppy" so to speak.
I cant be the only one who is glad that pop music is dying out bc i find it kinda annoying ngl. 2015 pop songs sound like all those trap remixes from soundcloud lmao
I feel like 2010-2015 music is waaaay more different than 2016-2019 music edit: WTF THE LIKES?????? this is literally the worst comment I've ever done, wha-
Sofia Sandoval I definitely agree, I feel like music even just those years ago still incorporated a lot of the late 2000s sound, so more bubble gum pop and a pretty energetic, upbeat and dance club feeling, it makes sense because that was the earlier part of this decade and it was still finding its identity. By 2016 pop music had enough time to find a new path, and so came the more slow tempo ballads, and incorporation of hip hop sounds. Personally I just enjoy the older sound but then again I grew up with it and I'm just more drawn to more generic, dance club songs. Plus I understand the younger kids need their new sound of music to grow up to and if it makes them happy, good on them😊👌
Rihanna and Beyonce are moving into the “Icon” phases of their career. No longer commercially viable...but the 15-20 years of hits and performances still garner them respect as the greats of the millennials.
Nat Yes Riri, I think she cares more about her business ventures and status as a public figure rather than an artist. She is definitely in the second phase of her career now. I am sure she will release music again but that is not going to be her primary source of income or leisure anymore.
Nat - I guarantee, before Rihanna retires she’ll eclipse Mariah Carey as the female with the most #1 hits. Rihanna is a fashion Icon. She’s been on the cover of Vogue 25 times... and now she’s has a fenty beauty that’s going to pay her bills LONG AFTER she’s done with music. Don’t discredit Rih. She’s not the richest woman in music for no reason.

i feel like taylor has made her name now and is no longer interested so much in being on top all the time. she’s a whole adult now, nearly thirty, building a life. so i agree that it makes sense for her to just kind of float and figure stuff out and kinda have freedom in her projects
Plus, she did saw in the Zane Lowe interview that she wanted to have a light touring schedule this cycle assuming because of Andrea's relapse with cancer and other stuff that she needs to take care of at home. Blood is truly thicker than water.
She might change her genre for the next album cause she did the same with country, she achieved everything and then she moved to pop and now she is named artist of the decade, she has set her name as a pop icon and changed the game. I really hope she does pop/rock for TS8
Taylor is an artist that doesnt care about making hits. She write songs because she loves writing it. You're right that she is on top of the game right now. When you become 30 your career will slowly die, just like what happened to Katy and other artist. She said in the interview that she wants to explore her music and also said that T.S8 will become a rock album and after T.S8 she will re-record her older albums so i think she wont stop making music until she finished the re-recordings. I think she will still write songs for movies the next. Fun Fact: Taylor Wrote "Love Story" when she was 14 and on the bedroom floor for 25 minutes.
@@kstanner5909 Why? Like he said, she's already killed it all. I mean The Fame was a smash success, The Fame Monster was a smash success, and Born This Way and Artpop had a nice moderate success. She's already been there, done that. With her growth and evolution to a more dignified and elegant persona in Joanne and A Star is Born, I can hardly see her going back to simple pop. If anything it will be something new for her yet again.
K stanner - that right there is the logic that causes these singers to potentially end up falling off or lose focus of the reason why they started making music in the first place. Why do artists such as Gaga have to continue to prove themselves after so much success? This thought process is what’s wrong with the music industry today. Everyone is so focused on the numbers and the charts instead of the music. Once you’ve reached that point in fame where your name is a household name and you’re well known all over the world, you have nothing left to prove.
@@Layton_2010 I just want to see her influence another decade of artists. If Madonna is consistent at giving her fans for three decades then I hope Gaga does it too.
K stanner - oh okay see that I can agree with. Nothing wrong with wanting to see her influence more artists. 💯 rather than prove herself again and again haha.
Taylor transitioned from country to pop pretty successfully . I don't think she is going anywhere anytime soon. She is a great songwriter , which is her biggest asset.
Ok I genuinely tried to like Cardi but her voice is just so annoying, you can hear her spit. Her personality’s also shit (tbh she kinda reminds me of Azealia Banks without talent). So at this point I feel like her hype is dying out, she hasn’t had a hit since 2018, and the only thing that keeps her relevant is her obnoxious rants on Instagram or fighting with the Barbz-
@Sam Galea wtf ? ...... So someone death can make new artist famous . Your logic is fucked up . Instead people compare artist with old ones and crush them hard in reality but in Adele case idt any of this happen . Her music is good 👍 and she is different and very astounding as an artist . It's her talent what made her who she is today . Things doesn't work in that way to be global star or a Megaseller if you get what I want to convey .
I feel like the reason pop music is “dead” is because there’s more hip-hop music than there was and everyone’s into it now. Pop music isn’t the same as it use to be and doesn’t really stand out no more.
I'm not a 'stan', but I think with Lady Gaga, she grew up. She's not in her 20s anymore, and she doesn't have to prove herself to mass audiences. Her projects reflect the fact that she wants to do different things with her talents and 'staying at the top' isn't her primary goal. I'm not a huge fan of her and even I can comprehend and understand that.......
Sumaya Said what industry the industry is full of frauds who are mind controlled and most of your aka favorite artists are frauds Rihanna will not come back most likely her time is pretty much over
I feel like he was a little harsh on Lady Gaga. She seems to be a step above everyone else. Having a number one single this year was something nobody expected. And the biggest selling album of 2018. She really came back and I think her next era is going to surprise a lot of people.
@@user-mq3ts7lr9l I have to disagree, ASIB soundtrack sold more copies than Sweetner and Thank u, next combined. And the soundtrack spent 4 weeks atop the album chart which is longer than any of Ariana's albums. I think Gaga is more popular now than she has been since 2011 and comparing her to Ariana, who is in her prime, is pretty naïve.
Rock isn't popular anymore, but it's not dead yet. Animals as leaders, Greta van Fleet etc. It's just not on the radio, you kinda have to search for it, but it's no more dead than classicical or jazz Ill be real I like oldschool hip hop, but the trap sound and generic boombap does nothing for me. Nothing on the radio is all that interesting sounding
Honestly I feel like nobody talks about Janet Jackson anymore. SHE IS A LEGEND and every pop artists takes from her. Her discography is amazing and always different, and her success was massive.
They use black music genres (rap, hip hop and trap) but doesn't hire black artists. I cringed when he talked about trap inspired songs and only white artists were on screen.
Gabriel what’s crazy to me is in the 90s the only big superstar that was selling was Madonna, every other one was a black artist, Mariah Carey, and Janet Jackson billboard named the two biggest musicals acts of the 90s, and they’re both black. Same with mj, Mary j bridge, Whitney Houston, tlc. And now you have white artists with black teams and black sounding songs but they’re white? Record executives would rather have a white person with a black sound than an actual black person. The industry came after every single superstar of the 90s.
WE need Britney Back. Even her top 30 and 40 hits were more famous than today's top 20. Even her 2002 songs that are banned on the radios are more famous.
@PurpleRose7777 mainly due to its sexual content and her having a "young audiences". One of the prime example of that is "If u seek Amy", there's a petition from American parents to ban the song. Jokes on them coz 6 yrs old me listened to it hundred of times
@@joycevillar6455 Wasn't it because she chose to do her DWAD tour with a different company than one that was associated with a huge radio company thus they boycotted her music till In the Zone but that's just what I heard. I think you're right though, haha.
y’all are talking about how pop music is dead bc of k-pop when in actuality western pop music is dying because of western artists not releasing the bangers like they used to and getting overshadowed by hip hop artists.
Exactly, the real problem is that we're not yanking out music that actually slaps. All western artists cared about is charts, money and fame. They don't care about the music anymore, it's all just clout. What a shame, I wont be surprised if they do get overshadowed by foreign artists. Latin American music and Kpop have been huge, and continue to be huge.
Pop music, like most other things today, is more commercialised than ever before. Kpop bands like BTS and Blackpink are sprung up straight from the talent assembly lines in Korea and spread to the world. That's what it is, BTS is a consumerist product made for a worldwide audience, to promote Korean culture etc. It's as much of a product as Samsung phones or Hyundai cars. The power and influence the record labels have, coupled with the mission of the Korean government to get the hallyu wave around the world- has worked perfectly this decade. Kpop has done what any other technological or mechanical product manufactured from Korea's industries have- bring tons of money and revenue to the economy thanks to the huge global interest in Korean culture and the eventual increase in tourism rates thanks to Kpop concerts and obsessed fanbases. I want more hits like Old Town Road and Gangnam Style, happening though, more songs blowing up from virality and not artificially generated trends. That was a positive trend of this decade. Gangnam Style being a hilarious parody of Korea's own culture and PSY's hilarious dancing infecting the world, and the sheer satisfaction of Old Town Road holding off more commercially produced and big budget tracks like Senorita from the #1 spot on Billboard. That's what I want, pop music having more hits from viral trends and relatable memes rather than being told by Max Martin or some Korean record label to bop to.
The Plastic Metalhead Shitposter i agree with most of what you’re saying and yes those kinds of songs would be great to have again. However, while kpop being a product for (mainly western) consumers, I think that is not the whole mission of a few kpop groups. Take BTS and BLACKPINK for example. Two opposite sides of the spectrum I want to talk on. Bts and their company from the beginning have talked about and rapped about how they want to be a new kind of idol. One with less restraints and more freedom. When they were underground rappers and chose to be idols they were criticized for choosing to become “commercialized Kpop idols”, so in their rap tracks they spoke on that and said they’d basically prove them wrong and lead a new generation of idols. Which is why I think they stand out. While, yes they are still commercialized to an extent (bc that’s how kpop has always been) they have more freedom. While BP barely have their own freedom and are heavily commercialized to just be popular. They are very talented, but their company limits them very much.
Just because they have massive followings doesn't mean their music is good. Taylor swift is massive on IG and everywhere else becayse she's the perfect blonde girl, blue eyes, white skint hat the world loves. Lady Gaga is pure A$$$$ no matter what. Beyonce is only big off her first decade of the century. She doens't make music much anymore, and if she does, it's forgettable. Rihanna literally made 2 songs between 2004-2012. Nothing else. So stop
someone said that pop music changed and went downhill after the chainsmokers released closer💀 all these artists only release singles not albums!!! They just do it to stay relevant
It's kinda funny considering nearly everyone in the pop genre hates the chainsmokers. They are supposed to be DJs so you'd think the EDM community would back them up, hahaha nope, we all hate them too.
Let’s not forget about Lorde who Bowie himself called “the future of music”. She already has 2 incredible albums under her belt! I feel like she’s the type of artist that will grow a cult following in the future.
I'm honestly sad that everyone forgot about Amy Winehouse [Edit: no Amy Winehouse didn't make pop music, i just posted this comment because a whole DECADE is almost over & no one is mentioning her, and (to me) that is really really sad..cause she had a LOT of influence shaping this decade & the music (jazz, blues) itself)
she didn’t do so much this decade, but yes she’s such an icon but sometimes i feel like they don’t recognize and remember her as she deserves. too talented, too true and too sweet for this world.
Even Rihanna knows pop is dying. She’s slowly drifting away from it and trying to make the next new trend. ANTI was just the start. Watch how she changes things.

You are right. It's repetitive beats with primitive faux poetics laid on top. It's mostly trash. Just an easy way for talentless hacks to squeeze a few bucks out of stupid people.
No. I think music is on a severe decline. Listen to what has happened over the last 3 years, if you're still alive. K Pop trash is now the most popular, followed by atrocious Taylor, and that's it. Mumble rap is here. Pop and R&B are finished. We are living in the worst age of music in human history.
Music is just evolving. It always is. Even back in 2010 people were still complaining about how "music was so much better back then..." That being said, I'm really gunning for Normani. 😛
@J Brotha That's what I'm saying, the definition of what r&b is, is definitely changing. But musical taste is subjective so not everyone's gonna like the change. 🤷🏾
@Jessica Buttgereit Evolution doesn't happen overnight. I think mainstream music is having a shift in sound that some people won't like, and that's okay. That being said, there are still many artists that stick to a classic or original sound. So, maybe music as a whole isn't changing, just mainstream. 🤷🏾
Could we get a part two to this please? There a lot of other artists this decade like Beyoncé, Shawn Mendes, Nicki Minaj, Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, Camila Cabello, and so many more that I would love to hear your opinion on.
@@beatricebusybeacleaningltd9392 two of those split. Little mix is amazing and....HELLO BTS!!!? Like, where have you been??? They are the biggest group in the world right now....
I think Lover was the close out of the popular, relationship involved, in the public eye Taylor. A lot of what has happened to her in her career peak has been not just about the music but more than anything about her. 1989 was her commercial peak and Reputation was the peak of the discussions in her private life. Honestly Reputation was pretty much necessary for that reason alone. Lover basically said "I am happier now, and I am ready to move onto the next phase of my life". It explains about how she is basically over all the drama and just wants to live her best life how she wants, away from all the commercial pressure. In that way I believe that if she tries the 2020s will have her BEST music she has ever written. She has the musical chops, but I do feel the commercial haze and lust for stardom is what got in the way of some of her worst music this decade. Now that in life she is starting to care less and less about numbers and more about her craft, I think Taylor's magnum opus and most culturally significant music to come. Taylor plays the long game, and thus I think will be a great legacy artist for that reason. Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Beyonce all released some of their greatest works late into their career, and I feel Taylor will do that. Her next move after The Voice is covering her old songs, which in itself I feel is a summarization ploy for her career so far. Closing out an era with her first self-owned music and going into a new one with everything being owned by her and her alone. Being settled into a more happy and settles life. Being set for life due to royalties in itself. Going into her 30s. Definitely music from now on will be about making music and because of her passion first and foremost. Making music because she loves it and loves entertaining others, no matter how successful it might be. I think this is the first time in Taylor's career where we really can't predict what she has up her sleeve next. After she covers her own music in an amazing power move I think she can go...anywhere frankly. I am not saying she will go full alternative or country again or rock. Pop will be her main lane, but a different for flavorful and interesting pop. A la artists such as Lorde and St. Vincent. Or maybe Lover the song is a sign that country Taylor is back. Who knows.
Cardi B doesn't deserve the Grammy for best album of rap, she didn't do anything. in Taki Taki she was only there modeling while the other artists did their thing, She didn't write her songs and didn't contribute much as an interpreter. *Mac Miller deserved it*
You wouldn’t say Mac Miller if he hadn’t died and that’s the truth. When it comes to rap Pusha T or Travis Scott had the better album out of the whole category.
@@ericly1e727 I've known Mac since his collaboration with Anderson Paak, and many others also met him when he was doing songs with Ariana. That you limit yourself to the popular aspect of music and only find out about great artists when they die does not represent the experience of others.
@@ericly1e727 Mac Miller has been writing songs for a long time, and this album as soon as it came out became one of my favorites, it has many merits of composition and production. It is not fair devalue the work of an artist just because he died.
also lana del rey, melanie martinez, lorde and sza had an important role in the pop culture of this decade. they all did very good jobs with their albums and i see them on the next decade doing some good new shits.
Lorde killed pop music. After Royals blew out and became such a tremendous hit, a lot of artists tried to copy its downbeat, less energetic sound. Soon afterwards, rap and R&B took over, and most pop music that makes the charts became pretty downbeat and sad, when not downright dark and gloomy like Billie Eilish' music, completely different from early 2010's Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kesha... As much as I hate how she's influenced the industry at large, I love Lorde though! She's easily my favorite artist. It amuses me too that most of Melodrama is basically pure upbeat, danceable electropop, when as I've said she's probably the person who's contributed the most to the decline of that genre lol
Lana and Lorde are over, they have peaked somewhere in early 2010s. Melanie is washed out for me, they don't need two girls singing about depression in the mainstream and the majority has picked Billie for that role. I don't follow SZA, looks just like another r&b pop singer; nothing's special
pop music was dying but britney spears saved it in the 90s pop music was dying in the 2000s but lady gaga saved it it needs to evolve more. pop music isnt just about the music, it's about the culture, the music videos, the performances and the looks. every pop artist right now is boring and theyre all doing the same thing
@@minatozaki8271 Swift's early career as a country singer-songwriter plays an important role in shaping the modern country music scene. New York journalist Jody Rosen asserts that Swift is the first country artist whose fame reaches the world beyond the U.S. Following Swift's rise to fame, country labels have become more interested in signing young singers who write their own music. With her autobiographical narratives revolving around romance and heartbreak, Swift introduced the genre to a younger generation that could relate to her personally. Rolling Stone listed Swift's country music as one of the biggest influences on 2010s pop music, and ranked her 80th in the list of 100 Greatest Country Artists of All Time. The Guardian opined Swift led the poptimist movement in music with her ambitious artistic vision. Her onstage performance with guitars contributed to the "Taylor Swift factor", a phenomenon to which media outlets attribute the rise in guitar sales to women, a previously ignored demographic. Publications consider Swift's million-selling albums in the 2010s an anomaly in the streaming-dominated music industry, following the decline of the album era. She is the only artist to have four albums sell over a million copies within one week since Nielsen SoundScan started tracking sales for the Billboard 200 in 1991. For New York magazine, Swift's million sales figures prove that she is "the one bending the music industry to her will". According to Rolling Stone, Swift's opposition to low royalty from streaming services, such as Spotify and Apple Music, and efforts to claim ownership to her masters, were two of the defining moments for the music industry in the 2010s decade. Her actions have fostered debate over reforms to on-demand music streaming and prompted awareness of intellectual property rights among younger musicians. Quartz regarded Swift the most important artist of the millennial era. Swift was named Woman of the Decade of the 2010s by Billboard and became the first woman to earn the title Artist of the Decade (2010s) at the American Music Awards. She won the Brit Awards' Global Icon Award "in recognition of her immense impact on music across the world". Swift has influenced various mainstream and indie singers, including Ruth B., Shamir Bailey, Kelsea Ballerini, Priscilla Block, Bailey Bryan, Camila Cabello, Sabrina Carpenter, Sofia Carson, The Chainsmokers, Daya, Frances Forever, Selena Gomez, Ellie Goulding, Conan Gray, Girl in Red, Griff, Halsey, Niall Horan, Little Mix, Shawn Mendes, Soccer Mommy, Maren Morris, Nina Nesbitt, Niki, Finneas O'Connell, Maisie Peters, Freya Ridings, Olivia Rodrigo, Troye Sivan, Slayyyter, Tegan and Sara, Tessa Violet, The Vamps, Hayley Williams, and Zahara.

If you don’t like kpop that’s fine but your opinion doesn’t stop it from being a successful source for pop music at the moment
@Migizii Inini You don't have to like it but it's pop music at it's core and people, especially young people, have a demand for pop music and korea is providing it right now
I think in the next decade, World music/genres will be more popular. I'm seeing a lot of Latino artists in the game recently and also Kpop is expanding globally too. People will look for new, unique styles/sounds and will be more open to International artists and other languages.
I think Kpop's popularity will keep increasing for 1-2 years but then either go down or grow very slowly or won't grow at all cuz currently BTS is leading the kpop wave and they'll have to serve in the Korean military soon ( from end of 2020 ) so they'll be gone for at least 2 years . Blackpink is another famous group but they won't be big forever too . Other than these 2 groups other groups do not have any considerable impact . Off course if another huge group emerges then things would be different but being a Kpop fan I'll say Kpop will never take over but will always remain there . Language barrier and cultural differences will always keep it restricted .
@Simona Filipová exactly! Even before BTS, kpop was well-known in Asian countries. It wasn't mainstream and wasn't that huge in the West but it still had an impact to some degree - maybe like an underground thing. After BTS, kpop became incredibly mainstream and when they leave even if its popularıity decreases some fans will keep supporting their faves cuz not everyone's an ARMY. Maybe it will die out in US, but in many other countries it will remain popular to some extent.

I’m feeling alternative r&b is gonna start to make it’s way into the mainstream and of course Kpop is just gonna keep spreading which is gonna kick the west side specifically America and the UK back into the swing of making girl/boy groups and producing all around artists not just singers but pop stars like Britney who danced as well and were very image focused.

Her Motivation song was called "Generic" and people keeps on saying she has weak vocals but they never say the same about Billie😂 and we can both tell that they have soft voices. I guess this is also about "Who wants to suppot who" it is no longer about talent. "Bad Guy" is such a generic song😂😂 (I don't mean to start a fight with Billie's fans) But let's just be real, would y'all still listen to Billie's songs if Normani (With a soft voice like Billie's) was singing them? No!!
Your Mother Karen I’m not the biggest Billie fan but her streaming numbers on Spotify were impressively large for a debut album, globally too, she’s still new and the general public won’t let go of her that easily until it comes by her third album because they love new things that just catch their attention span.

Probably unpopular hot take: the reason why it feels like 'death' of pop music for many of us versus just the natural evolution is that we're getting older. Real talk most of us who are talking about this were born in the 90s and you can tell because the artists you mentioned defines our growth, our teeny years with britney up to our crazy young adult years with miley and so on. It feels like death because its the death of our youth. Pop music isn't for us anymore in the sense that the wonder, newness and excitement is something we are ageing out of. Fan culture is still alive and well with Ariana, BTS , Billie Eyellish, Shawnila, Normani, Chloe + Halle, Khalid, Halsey etc for this next generation. And yes there are more to come. Physical sales are coming back, people camping out for SNL, etc that shits alive its just we specifically dont care as much anymore. We're growing jaded and set in what we defined as highlights in music. Somebody born in 71, felt these same feelings when Michael Jackson, Madonna, hair metal, etc started to decline. So we may not feel the impact of today's artists as much, a person who is 8-12 right now will have a different experience. It will probably never feel the same for us. But that doesnt take away from the impact these stars are currently having. It's a new era and I just wish we'd look at it in a different light. And I do feel we need some more fresh meat. Its just the start of a new era that the aforementioned are ushering in and it feels particularly stale to us 90 kids who want to be excited by pop culture again. I highly recommend BTS. I think they, Ariana and Billie are the most exciting things in pop culture rn and will be the template for this next era. Also generally speaking kpop has some excellent producers, choreo and live performances that are just destroying american performers and really just the industry right now.
I definitely agree. BTS, Ariana, and Billie are so different but so likable. They are the hottest thing in the music Industry as of now. They all have a loyal fanbase, consistent success and are generally likable. Talk about iconic. They are like the holy trinity of pop.
When u talked about bts, i stopped reading. They're trash. Their music is trash. Do u think they're on Katy, Taylor,BEYONCE , Ari, Nicki, rihanna ,Gaga and adele's talentry? No stfu. Theyre only successful because of fans. Let's be honest, they're generic . The only one WHO WILL lead pop is either Selena Gomez or Ariana grande. I'm all for these two. U put bts in the same sentence as Ariana and Billie. BTS ain't talented.
@@rosieg6432 you're fucking delusional LMAOOOOOOO BTS will be gone soon and only they're fans will remember them. There isn't pop trinity. There's only the main pop artist such as Beyonce, Katy, Taylor, Gaga, rihanna, Adele ,nicki and Ari. They're the only main artist. And they are all up for Ariana. They support her and she has the torch. BTS will be gone soon
@@jude5912 u spilled. I don't know why they put bts in the same level as Ariana and Billie. Those two women are far more talented. Also army's are just good at liking tweets and pictures. They can make every tweet into 1million. They might be big but so is beyhive, the barbz, swifties and Arianators. They might not like every tweet into 1million but at least they charted🙈 whereas bts couldn't.
Keep in mind that from 2004-2008, Pop was mixed with Rap too. Then people like Gaga & Katy came out and saved it. It's just a matter of time before Pop dominates again. Just you wait.
True... for years, Eminem was a top reference. Britney was the princess of Pop, but her sales were not as consistent. People have to realize that Pop does not need to be the most popular genre to survive. Before Mickael Jackson, Rock was way more popular than their contemporaries who we'd associate with a Pop sound...
In my opinion, Taylor Swift will never be irrelevant. She has the power of changing genres effortlessly. Plus each of her albums have completely different styles for eg rep is completely different from 1989, lover is the polar opposite of reputation and folklore is a unique piece of art and is something she's never done before. Long gone are the days where her music was just supposed to be heard by 'teenage girls' (whatever that is supposed to mean). With albums as mature as folklore and also to a great extent, Lover, her music is truly meant to be consumed and loved by all ages. Moreover, her songwriting is immaculate and it gets better in every album. Plus her fanbase is massive. So the same applies to Taylor what you said for Rihanna: People will never not care about her music ❤️✨
i know a middle school girl who's an intense swiftie and was born after fearless was released. there are few, if any, other musicians who started their career 15 years ago and still have lots of young fans. her music has literally been there for people from the ages of 10 to 35 and that in itself makes her a legend.
So stop
I feel like Hip Hop will continue to be dominant in the next decade, Latin music will continue to rise, R&B will see a massive resurgence and that's all I got for now. Also I'm excited for Normani's debut album!
Im Latina and I'm tired of the same Latin/trap crap we hear today. If Latin music will rise I hope it's Cumbias, Ranchero etc . Real authentic Latin music. Not the mainstream crap.
Man can we just revert back to the days when we had Pop Punk singers like Avril Lavigne and rock bands like Sum 41,Blink-182,Linkin Park,Green Day, All Time Low, Simple Plan etc and just music of the 2000s in general.

o k her music is roughly around the same style and sound. But Billie won’t last unless she becomes a pop star like Ed Sheeran did - by changing her whole style. She got lucky with one song and it was mainly because of kids. It won’t last.
The amazement of pop culture has died. There hasn’t really been an artist that’s gagged the world In a while. And I don’t mean musically cause there’s been several bangers but after the era of Gaga and Miley. No one is making ground breaking music videos or fashion statements. If I’m wrong please enlighten me
That's exactly what I think. I think Kesha was the last real pop sensation. I'm not talking about hits, since Ariana has been doing really good lately, but about everything beyond music: fashion, attitude and even scandals. Somebody the whole world talks about. That's what we've been missing for 10 years.
@GOLD Ranger Nah ariana was never a pop singer. She actually started making RnB album when she was 14,but her parents and family said that she was too young and that she need to go to some tv show (victorious on nickelodeon) to make friends and make platform. Her first album "yours truly" was truly RnB But then,"my everything" was pop and RnB mixed. She continued making pop music,"dangerous woman" was pop album, that's because she started to be known as "pop star" and she started to work with max Martin,he produces pop music mostly. We all know that sweetener was RnB and experimental album But the same thing is happening again :/ Thank u next was mostly pop...It had some pop,RnB and trap vibes but everyone she starts going into RnB,she also starts making pop music because she is known as pop star and she doesn't want to start making...other genre While she is interested more in RnB I think this is finally RnB album, but it also has some pop vibes...
omg let's talk abt Doja Cat for a minute I think she'll thrive very well in the new decade that's currently ruled by hip hop and rap. and omg JOJI joji, previously known as filthy frank, I think will do very well in the new decade
AAA JOJI IS SO GOOD HES SUPER TALENTED BUT UNDERRATED 😭 I dont think Joji's music can become super popular tho , it's really particular and honestly not for everyone
Even though she wasn't the biggest this decade, I hope Selena Gomez will start the new decade in the right way. She is ending this decade in a nice way.
Luka Cool 55 I honestly think Selena’s new music rn is only hitting because of her name and the subject matter. The songs themselves are mediocre at best. We’ll just see what Selena brings this upcoming decade though. I just hope she can provide a body of work that can outdo Revival
@@SelenaGomezDoll It'd be nice if she could sing...Like have you seen her live performances? I'm not sure if Panic! is considered a rock band anymore, but they seem to be really popular nowadays. Hey Look, Ma I made it was SUCH a big hit out of nowhere and Brendan collabed with Taylor Swift and everything
Honestly same. Pop just can’t replicate some acts artists like Courtney love and green day did back in the 90s. Rock allows for such a crazy and I don’t give a fuck factor which no other genre can replicate imo.

Plus I understand the younger kids need their new sound of music to grow up to and if it makes them happy, good on them😊👌
Lorde is to blame. She killed pop music with Royals. Love her though, she's my favorite artist lol

Rihanna and Beyonce are moving into the “Icon” phases of their career.
No longer commercially viable...but the 15-20 years of hits and performances still garner them respect as the greats of the millennials.
Beyonce but not riri

Aishwarya Khadka And she’ll probably wanna get married and have kids sometime soon considering she’ll be entering her 30s soon
omg i stan me getting hit comments
Taylor is an artist that doesnt care about making hits. She write songs because she loves writing it. You're right that she is on top of the game right now. When you become 30 your career will slowly die, just like what happened to Katy and other artist. She said in the interview that she wants to explore her music and also said that T.S8 will become a rock album and after T.S8 she will re-record her older albums so i think she wont stop making music until she finished the re-recordings. I think she will still write songs for movies the next.
Fun Fact:
Taylor Wrote "Love Story" when she was 14 and on the bedroom floor for 25 minutes.
Gaga does not have anything to prove at this point. She’s literally done it all and killed it.
actually she does, she needs to prove that she can drop another successful pop album since artpop
Once you’ve reached that point in fame where your name is a household name and you’re well known all over the world, you have nothing left to prove.

y’all are talking about how pop music is dead bc of k-pop when in actuality western pop music is dying because of western artists not releasing the bangers like they used to and getting overshadowed by hip hop artists.
@@veestigz kpop and latino will only be a recent trend

Who knows.
Bro this comment made me appreciate Taylor so much more lmao great comment!
Yess exactly
You did predict certain things here
Cardi B doesn't deserve the Grammy for best album of rap, she didn't do anything. in Taki Taki she was only there modeling while the other artists did their thing, She didn't write her songs and didn't contribute much as an interpreter.

She bought her Grammy
also lana del rey, melanie martinez, lorde and sza had an important role in the pop culture of this decade. they all did very good jobs with their albums and i see them on the next decade doing some good new shits.
Demi Lovato and Sia as well
Lana influenced so many
Wait I thought sza did R&B music
Lana and Lorde are over, they have peaked somewhere in early 2010s. Melanie is washed out for me, they don't need two girls singing about depression in the mainstream and the majority has picked Billie for that role. I don't follow SZA, looks just like another r&b pop singer; nothing's special
pop music was dying but britney spears saved it in the 90s

@@jude5912 u spilled. I don't know why they put bts in the same level as Ariana and Billie. Those two women are far more talented. Also army's are just good at liking tweets and pictures. The 80s and early 2010's especially 2014 were the best eras of Pop Music
Jourdon Patron I prefer 2013 but I agree
2016, Rihanna this is what you came for, anti album, I took a pill in Ibiza, drake, etc. One of the best years in music.
I prefer 2011 and 2012 since the charts were full of pop music
What about late 90s and early 2000s? That was definately one of the golden eras of pop.
2012>>>2014
Keep in mind that from 2004-2008, Pop was mixed with Rap too. Then people like Gaga & Katy came out and saved it. It's just a matter of time before Pop dominates again. Just you wait.
True... for years, Eminem was a top reference. Britney was the princess of Pop, but her sales were not as consistent. People have to realize that Pop does not need to be the most popular genre to survive. Before Mickael Jackson, Rock was way more popular than their contemporaries who we'd associate with a Pop sound...
Future Nostalgia: You should have waited for me.
Yesss
Yes FN is a great pop album
She'll never go irrelevant especially cuz of the fact that how she constantly reinvents herself and her music style
You could say she'll "never go out of style"
i know a middle school girl who's an intense swiftie and was born after fearless was released. there are few, if any, other musicians who started their career 15 years ago and still have lots of young fans. her music has literally been there for people from the ages of 10 to 35 and that in itself makes her a legend.
So stop
I feel like Hip Hop will continue to be dominant in the next decade, Latin music will continue to rise, R&B will see a massive resurgence and that's all I got for now. Also I'm excited for Normani's debut album!
what most ppl don't realise is that by 2030 India will have a billion internet users they will overtake Latin music on UA-cam

larhonda burger her music does not all sound the same tho lol dont smile at me has songs that distinctly sound different
larhonda burger i dunno, many artists rise to fame fast and stay in touch with us... I mean Britney had a decade long career and is still relevant and grew fast, Taylor Swift grew in the same amount of time Billie did, etc
