I've caught alot of huge crappie on the Duo Spybaits this winter using a BFS setup. These work great in winter when you get sunny warm days and the baitfish get up top sunning themselves. Because you can crank it so slow, I just cast and immediately start winding when they're feeding surface in winter. It even works on those super calm bluebird days when not much else besides bottom contact seems to be working.
My home lakes are predominantly spotted bass blue back herring lakes. So I’m always looking for something new for pressured fish. I bought some of these when they first came out. This video answered my questions. Thank you
Good explanation on your technique.
I've just recently came across spybaits and had very good luck with them. I was catching bass as fast as I could cast!
Good video Andrew. If you have any questions to further your time with the technique let me know…. Great job
Id like to see how u graph points looking for deeper fish in the summer. Like do u drive straight in? Crisscross? Shallow to deep?. I fish a deep highlands lake ( south holston) lots of 45 degree points but also some flat run outs
I haven't fished 1 before but just ordered 4 to start fishing some.
Trying to learn to use them and see if they are effective in my area. I haven’t had any success yet, but haven’t fished it much either. Thanks for the tips!
hi Andrew! nice vid. Yes, love my g-fix80 spybait here on Lanier. I always have one tied on in the summer anytime I know they’re in the area busting bait. Between that, a top water, and a fluke I am set. 🙂
Agreed!
Up north done pretty good in the fall just below the surface with a stop and go retrieve or popping it.
I've done that as well. Also schooling fish thats a great way to catch them too
I’d love to see you demo these.
Deps makes a spy bait that's 5 in long and weighs 1 oz also like the alpha 62's Duo realis I also catch spotted bass on the surface with a spin 80 burning it
I've seen that DEPS one but haven't used it yet.
No I never used that type of spray baking how do they work
Would the spybait be a good lure to throw in the current for instance the St. Lawrence River? If so how would you fish it? Thanks
Great info, great video. Keep doing what your doing!
Thanks, will do!
Never thrown this bait, have thought about just never bout 1,looks very effective cool video
Thanks Scott!
So glad you did this video!
Hope you enjoyed it!
Great tip thanks, never fished it
I hope it works for you if you do!
I have fished one i own quite a few of em but I havent caught anything yet haven't fished much but will.
Ive caught a few spotted bass when they are suspended chasing baitfish. Nothing big.
It gets better. Just depends what type of school you're on
Love a spybait for smallies
Can you do a video about how lakes generating water or discharging water effects fish and fishing? I fish TVA lakes so I hear about this alot.
Sure can!
Great video
Caught my first smallie last fall on a gfix 80
When fishing clear water, 20ft visibility, how long is your floro leader?
Only 6-8ft
Spybaiting is a key technique on lake lanier
I’m liking 8lb braid to a 4 lb fluorocarbon I’m fishing shallow water and very high pressure cast let it hit the bottom pop it up and a slow reel or I use a fast reel pause fast reel pause you see how those blades make the bait look larger than it really is
That’s a good idea. I don’t trust my line to line knot enough to go braid to 4 though lol
I have them but when i bring it in the blades don't spin what am i doing wrong
Maybe line
I asked for one as a Xmas gift. 🤷🏻♀️ we will see
Spybait is my go to bait when I can't get a bite on nothing else.
Same for me I always change out the hooks to size 2 kvd nano trebles tho
Well Andrew uploaded a video? Stop what I'm doing lol. That door's paint can wait
Hahahah!
They pound them up here in Michigan
I have trouble fishing these. I've tried so many times. Even when I know they're biting.
It's one of those things I had to keep in my hand for a while before I got the hang of it and also it took sometime to get confidence too
@@AndrewUpshawFishing I've tried it on broken bow. Joe pool. Granbury, benbrook to name a few. But I'm gonna keep trying. I'm fishing derbs after I get back from okeechobee this week. Starting at joe pool so I'll be fishing more confidence style baits until I get a break. I'm tryin to turn some heads so I can get a couple of sponsors. fingers crossed!
I caught them well during early post spawn:
Early postspawn here in NC on the clearer lakes is unreal with a spybait. Had some unreal days on it. Such a fun bite...just like a swimbait bite on light line.
Big player on Lanier
Agreed
Man I have the captions turned off on UA-cam but they keep playing on almost all these fishing videos and they're horrible too 🤦♂️
I use "Chad" colors also though
I been fishing stuff all summer I've never caught anything on and keeping it on till I do. Going well I'm gonna move spybaits up the long list lol
Always have that list. It will make you better
@@AndrewUpshawFishing will do Andrew!!
FB me and will help you get past the learning curve. David Swendseid RnD Specialist who named , refined and introduced the technique. I have been helping pros master the technique for 10 years.
No does it work around grass
Big time
Wow, never seen a sinking Devil’s Horse....
Crazy, right?
I’ve never even gotten a bite on one 😢
Keep trying!
@@AndrewUpshawFishing I’m not brotha !! I live in south Louisiana so it’s very situational
I thought you was flipping a bitsy flip at Cherokee? 🤔
That’s how I won, yes. But I’ve fished Cherokee a few times other than that one.
yes with no susses
Have no clue what it is
It's a fun bait to fish it you like to finesse fish
