Nice install breakdown. I love that you explain how air intakes work in a turbocharged engine so we have a better sense of why we would need this mod. Keep it up 🙌
4:55 that's not a carbon filter. That's for cold weather. Second, the horsepower won't increase unless the airflow is restrictive. That means you have to dyno and tune the intake to make it effective. Paper filters OEM one are just good enough.
Great vid and I agree the stock intake is plenty good. But I gotta say the CTS intake was worth every cent for the sound alone, I'd happily sacrifice 20 Hp for the sound LOL, It adds so much drama to the driving experience.
I have a drop in K&N oiled filter right now on my 2015 M235i and it works great but I do eventually want to purchase the DINAN carbon fiber cold air intake. It’s enclosed just like the OEM intake but looks beautiful under the hood.
MST turbo inlet! Got one on my OG M2 made a massive difference. Always thought about the dry AFE but you read as you say that the stock airbox flows well and is a good design.
Great video man! I went to replace the filter today. Unfortunately I managed to break the vacuum hose connection because I did not undo the screws to the manifold. Any suggestions? :/ a new OEM air intake manifold is expensive....thinking of maybe just getting a CAI as the vacuum connection on the end of the line is in tact....it just broke off from the manifold.
Great video... thanks for sharing... may I ask... if the duct opening at the radiator site slightly wiggles , or there is some space around it... will that affect or decrease the amount of air sucked into the air filter... I have an f15 x35i that has one duct air ibtake... i modded it by adding the dual duct air intake that comes on the diesel version, and I had to add a silicone coupling tube to attach it to the air filter compartment... however the slight bent made a small space appear around the duct inlets at the radiator site... I hope I described that well😅
What are you thoughts on the K&N air filter. I have a 2016 435i xDrive Gran Coupe M performance and I'm ready to try some DIYs projects on it. I'm sick of over paying for some basic maintenance.
@@FritzRamos Yes thanks for the info. I did the install in 2 minutes. My car has the same intake as yours so it was a easy install from your video. Next is the battery and spark plugs. Wish me luck. Thanks for the video. Definitely subscripting and looking for more videos from you.
I recently installed an aFe Power Cold Air Intake in my 2015 M235i and honestly I feel like my car lost some power... I don’t have the same response that I did from the BMW stock air intake . Do you think I am over thinking it or my car actually lost power with the new one?
You should have more responsiveness in beginning but as the intake heat soaks your performance especially at lower speeds may have adverse effects. Does it have a heat shield?
Installed this filter and received a P00BD error, though I gotta say, my engine is absolutely working more efficiently, like way more, more torque at way lower hp levels and my Throttle is really light, might get me in trouble!!!

Thanks man. I hope it helped and thanks for designing the merch!
I think I might just consider doing this. Thanks for this idea man

Yes but do you notice a loss in low in torque at take off??? I did a back to back and the stock felt like the turbos spool up faster??

Hey if that's what you want, go for it. I'm sure you'll enjoy it

Good stuff, no sense on changing something that won't make that big of a difference.
Is an afe drop in air filter better then a k&n filter?
@@kevzescobar8078 won't make a difference which one. Get the one that filters best.
You rock brother!!! Have same car and use your techniques!! Thanks brode!!!
Glad to help
Just found this channel. Excellent work! Subscribing :)

I'm happy with it. Cheap, easy and a good amount of performance

I ordered Dinan because it was $30 and I likely need to change it anyway
Hi Fritz. Just replaced my air filter and noticed you don't have braces from the strut tower to the radiator bracket. Any reason why?

That is my question, I felt the same thing. Is it just me or did it loose some low end power on take off?
Would this filter fit a 435 2015
I think so, if the air box is the same. Check the fitment guide on the website for confirmation
This filter may be fine on daily driving but I saw someone posted this filter can cause error code on track.
Will the oiled require more/frequent cleaning?
Yes, but not dramatically more. Maybe a 3 to 4 ratio
Will it cause a light on my dash?
No, It won't cause a light 👍

what car did you have?
@@45273867 m235i
@@franknoneofya9585 what did you have to do to make it go away?
@Shloppy resets on its own or you have to tune your car.
@@franknoneofya9585 gotchu, im thinking about getting it but obviously dont want a code. Havent tuned the car yet
Couls you show a video of the sound of this intake?
Its the same to stock or change?
Honestly it sounds the same as stock.
Do you feel any power difference from butt dyno?
Acceleration on the low end feels much smoother and linear.
Dinan... Cough cough
Car wash video and haircut.lol
How did you know? 😅 And you don't like my lion's mane? Lol
Not as well designed as the 135i intake
