Love the lights. Will be checking the company out. Btw-I’m a retired police officer, and instead of using pepper spray, consider getting a large can of hornet spray. Many people aren’t affected much by pepper spray, but hornet spray will hurt like a mother, and temporarily blinds anyone unlucky enough to get it in the eyes. Also, a large can is easier to hold and point because in a fight or flight situation, our ability to use small items like pepper spray becomes difficult. Anyway, Have fun at the wedding, and Happy Thanksgiving!

@@lorrilewis2178 It temporarily blinds someone, but pepper spray may hurt like hell, but it doesn’t affect your vision, (aside from the pain of opening your eyes). If someone is in your house, you need to be able to escape to get help. I have been pepper sprayed many times over the years, usually when my partner is trying so spray someone else. You have to be able to stay in the fight, which means most people you’re spraying can too.
Feeling "temporary" can affect us in many ways. Glad you're able to stay!
So true. I put off making friends during the pandemic when I moved home bc I knew it would be temporary. But when I started making friends I realized it does so much for my happiness, even if I know I'll have to say au revoir at some point.
This is so real. I feel less temporary for the first time in many years. It can take some adjusting to, but a sense of stability is important.

Louis Poulsen is an iconic lighting design firm! Congratulations! I dream of one day owning their PH5 pendant light designed by Poul Hennigsen, it is a mid-century classic.

I was just watching her Xmas decor video from last year and I think she said she was mildly depressed last year so I think she gave the impression she wasn't a fan. But the inspo for decor seemed to come from family gatherings that sounded really cozy and sweet.
Touching one's hair is one of several 'soothing mechanisms', so you are likely nervous or self-conscious to some extent when you do that.
I would like to see the sconces in black/bronze. Something darker.
if it fits, consider putting your teak (walnut) booze shelf unit over on the wall where you're thinking for the big art, and put the big art where the shelf unit currently lives. I feel like that will balance the room, will give the art a prominent place (online at least, the big art disappears in that corner), and will give that corner behind the couch purpose. Btw, I have that exact Lightolier lamp that I bought off eBay ~15 years ago. I still love it! I enjoy your content and find myself talking to you "little to the left...lower, lower....got it; yes, move that lamp into the living room on the not-yet-existing console table". You're filling a current hole in my life, haha.

Agree! I was thinking the room needs to be balanced more in that corner. Was thinking a big tree in that corner but swapping the unit would be great.

I’m actually happy you’re staying longer in your current place because I love seeing how you’ve decorated it so far. I’ve always thought Louis Poulsen lights are super cool, ever since I first saw them in a department store in Mexico City in the mid- 60s, when I was seven years old. Their design reminds me of things The Jetsons have at home 🤩 🛸 🪐

so glad you're not leaving! i love the bedroom so much, i'm unsure about the new lights tho, perhaps a bit too modern!? too white!? and too large!? things feel quite soft and calm in that room and i think they pop out a bit much. anyhoo cant wait for more home updates :) hope you found a drinking date in chicargo!

love the sconces but i honestly think just one is enough! It's a contrasting touch of modernity in the room and the pair feels like overkill vs. just one as an "industrial" accent. Also the scale and light that just one gives off feels like more than enough! they're definitely very cool

Omg what a dream being gifted Louis Poulsen lamps. I love their Panthella and their PH 5 lamps (especially the pendants, they've got cool colors as well), but they're pricey. Such classics, very common here in Norway/Scandinavia I have to say.

Louis Poulsen Lamps are very well known and an absolute design classic in Germany, as well. They might also be the only lighting company I actually know by name... :D

i would leave one sconce instead of having both, and bring back your other lamp + stool beside your bed like it was before.
having two different lights would look nice instead of having two of the same. And your bedframe is delicate i feel like it over powers the bedframe having the two Poulsen lamps.

I preferred the single lamp in the bedroom. The sconces are super sleek and beautiful, but they are too looming and makes it feel too busy. The style and the color of the lamp was so fitting. But I understand if you prefer the function of the sconces.
You should use warm bulbs for the night lights for sleep quality -blue light etc… :)

talking about temporarity, I would love a video on how to decorate a temporary space and renter friendly options if you cannot paint walls and put lot's of holes into the walls ❤ (I'm interning and then will have a temporary contract so that would really help me to feel more at home in my temporary home)

You are comforting yourself when you stroke your hair.
My mother used to stroke my hair when I was a little, and I do that even today on myself, especially when I want comforting.
I like the way the new lights put the focus on the art. What is happening on that wall now is symmetrical, so your idea to use unmatched pieces on each side of the bed should work out perfectly. Maybe pieces that don't have too much of a "nightstand vibe" so you can use them differently when you move if needed.
the light scones... i don't hate them but they reminded me of something and now they are ruined for me, so it's a wonder i don't hate them. will only tell you what they remind me if you ask cause don't want to ruin them for you

Love the sconces. I do think they should go above the nightstands rather than over the headboard though. Over the nightstands will still mean you can maneuver them toward the bed when reading etc.

Even though your style is not like my own, I love it. I love my home to be comfortable and I am working on making it express who I am, my taste and not trends. Most of my stuff is thrifted, and I make a lot of mistakes, but I think that's what it takes to find what really speaks to me.

Is it normal in the USA that renting contracts are only for 1 year ? In Germany they are normally indefinite. The landlord has to have a good reason to terminate the contract.
Typically yes, because then the landlord can raise rent on a yearly basis. And if the landlord wants to terminate a lease (to sell or move back into the property, for example) most states only require giving renters a 30-60 day notice to find a new place to live. Specific laws vary by state though. It's stressful 😩😅

Also I had an empty spot in my kitchen because of rearranging art. I was searching round my house for some art that would work there. Stumbled across an old cork board! Thanks to your last video I was inspired and made a little corkboard moment. It was perfect.
