As an Arizona girl i feel your fears on climate issues, although i do worry more for you guys having to be on the Texas "grid" rather than regular energy like everyone else! Makes me scared for you guys if the power goes down during summer! I hope you have a generator or know someone who does!😢 My kids, (and grandkids!), tease me as I call you 3 my "Internet Kids"!! I started watching you when you had about 3 videos and haven't missed a week since, so I feel like I've watched you, Clay & Millie on all your adventures! SO glad you guys had a great trip to Japan & it was fun to see all the amazing things that you saw! Hope your jet lag got worked out cause it can definitely be hell!😮
I loved this book and absolutely agree with your criticisms. In my opinion the author really improves in the next books (I'm about halfway through the third one now) so I can't wait to hear your thoughts on those as well ☺
didn't realize how huge my backlog was for your videos but I'm binging them now on this Friday 😂 pls excuse the spam ❤ love your videos! and I was so ready for your Bridgerton thoughts 😂
Glad you enjoyed this! It's one of my favorite series but I definitely admit book 1 is the weakest. He wrote it when he was 18-20 and before he learned to outline so the pacing suffers a bit. That's not the case in the other volumes. Books 2,3,4 and 6 are some of my favorite books of all time. Book 1 improved when I reread it because there's so so much foreshadowing
I'm glad you mentioned climate change issues! I've been very worried about it. Since it's been so hot this May already...making me nervous for the summer....
I know you didn’t mention it here, but I have to thank you for constantly recommending The Tainted Cup. I’ve been in a slump, partially due to burnout at work, and it was the most delicious mystery novel in a fantasy world. So good and now I’m annoyed that book 2 isn’t out yet.
You trying to casually dodge Matildas licks at the end 😂 I'm not big on scifi but even I have been wanting to pick up Empire of Silence since it's taken off online
Something that has really helped me feel less despair is getting involved with Citizen’s Climate Lobby! I’m with the Canadian chapter, but they have organizations all over the world. I feel so much better informed and like I’m actually making a little bit of a difference in my local politics 🙂
Okay, I read Empire of Silence a couple of weeks ago because a YT video said it was “philosophical science fiction”- I’m pretty sure it was in a video with The Sparrow and maybe Dune as well? And I had exactly your reading experience plus being confused about when the philosophy was going to…kick in? Maybe it emerges in later books in the series?
At this point I don’t think your sandwich is a hyperfixation anymore, it’s your sandwich for life😂 I’ve also really liked part 1 of bridgerton so far but the more I think about it, the more I wish for Colin to be ✨obsessed✨with Penelope. That’s why I loved Anthony & Kate because their season was such a slow burn.
hahah you're probably right! And YES like I don't mind the whole bad boy wanna be to switch it up, but give me more embarrassing desperation from (while he is also trying to play it cool)
I live in El Paso, I am not looking forward to the horrible heat. I read The Heat Will Kill You First a while back ago, I liked it a lot. Climate change is terrifying.
Thank god, there are people who are not dying for colin bridgerton. I thought I was the only one who was not into this bad pirate boy vibes. I really hope that part 2 redeems him a little. Pen deserves so much more.
Always glad to hear someone speaking about the need to take care of our environment and tackle the issues with the climate. Then again, you have just flown to Japan and back.
I hear they're...worse lol. I don't mind the Netflix show as long as I don't think too hard about it, i find it entertaining and sometimes a show just being that is ok!
@@robirb_ I found the language exaggerated, not to mention Colin who became a Don Lothario this season. The change of the character's behavior from one season to another is too fast and has no basis in the story.
Clay singing "summertime salad" to the tune of "Summertime Sadness" took me out 🤣
All u needed to comment was summertime salad 😂 we got it

The eco anxiety is real.
Suzume was a good movie. I don't watch Bridgerton, but I enjoy friends to lovers.
As a Tennessean experiencing the same 90 degree days in May, I feel you on the climate scaries so much!
Also Tennessean. The horrible storms we had this month gave me the worst anxiety. Hope it goes better the rest of the season.
From Florida here, it is hot! 🥵
I just loved your trip to Japan video! Thanks for sharing the fun!

That's great to hear! I also thought the first book reads like it would be better on a reread with series context

I've been reading the books in this series on release, and its absolutely top tier. You're in for one hell of a ride.
I really appreciate your honest impressions. I'm looking forward to reading this one too.

Makes you appreciate winter ( in small doses) - in autumn here & it is FABULOUS ( definitely my favourite season) 🦉🕸🍁🍂🐝🐌🍄☕🥞🥐
Regannnn have you gotten on the cavallini and co puzzles?? They're all sort of vintage poster inspired and the designs are so gorgeous and fun
Dying to know where you got your soot sprites pocket tee if you'd be willing to share!!
u & clay are literally my parents 🫶🫶

thats what I'm hoping too! Like it was good, but maybe not super mind blowing to me at this point... but I'm also hopefuly!
It gets more philosophical in the sequels and side stories. This book is basically just the foundation for the leg work in the rest of the series
@@lightonsnow1 Thanks for the information! I was already planning to go on in the series, but that makes me more excited to keep reading.
That pasta looks delicious 👀

The Water Will Come is also a great book by Goodell. Would recommend.
@@allyc6261 I’ve never heard of it, I’ll check it out.
I have recently binged the first two seasons of Bridgerton, making myself wait a week before I start season 3, my reading has fallen behind 😅😅
Thank you for talking about the climate crisis! Do you watch Shelbizlee? She talks a lot about what she does to take action in Texas
Wait have you watched Queen Charlotte??

Same, I hope in the second part of the season he ends up more like himself again (but more mature)
Omg thank you for these Bridgerton thoughts because I felt like I was alone in this. Penelope deserves betterrrrrr.
I see that your peruse project is coming along fine. Or, are you actually soaking in the book?
Always glad to hear someone speaking about the need to take care of our environment and tackle the issues with the climate. Then again, you have just flown to Japan and back.
These mega corporations produce more waste than everyday people going about their lives..
Good thing individuals taking once in a life time trips are not the key contributors to climate change, eh!?

I found Bridgerton cringy. I hope the books are better.

I personally enjoyed the show more than the books!
