    This video focuses on the different tessellation options and tries to explain them as fully as possible so you can get straight into using them without the trial and error needed to understand how they work.

      @@ArtisansofVaul Playing with this a little more, I just realised that the original tile you created (in this case the donut type-plane shape) can be swapped out for a completely different tile (by selecting the original tile, then shift selecting the newer tile, pressing Ctrl + L and choosing Link Object data and then refreshing the tiled tissue mesh!) So we are not locked into the original tile at all. Swapping out for another one gives us that much more flexibility!

      @@ArtisansofVaul exactly, I first found it by chance because I was searching for ways to make custom scale mail for my own 3D printed miniatures but non-destructive like in zbrush and I first found the other addon the Micro Mesh, and then I think I read someone's comment talking about that it was like the free one. Would be super useful to project complicated panels over an organic architectural building that has smooth surfaces. Is it possible to push this further and, say, tessellate building units? Let's say you make a detailed housing cubicle, combine it into one mesh, could you tessellate that across a surfaces and make one larger cubicle complex? Interesting possibilities.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  11 місяців тому +1

      It's a really good question. I'm not sure. I think it was developed by someone as an addon and then got added to Blender. Also perhaps because its so massive it couldn't "fit" in a modifier. I mean this video barely scratches the surface. On Mondays video I go into more of what this can do and you'll be how far this can go (and even that isn't covering everything)

    You're using all along a circular shape, which is cute, but sadly it doesn't show the main issue : rotation of the repeated pattern. I'm trying to make a pattern follow the curvature of a simple tube with ultrai regular geometry. But the pattern is repeated sometimes turned left, or right, or up, etc. In what seems to be a total random mess.
    Something similar was happening at first click in ZBrush with Micromesh, but it could be fixed with one of the parameters. I can't seem to find any way with Tissue to force the pattern to always be in the same direction >:
    Would you happen to have an idea about that issue please ?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  11 місяців тому

      You have rotation options in the tissue panel. The most reliable way is to UV map the object and then use the UV for the rotation.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  9 місяців тому

      So it will depend on how they are set up. These are as I left the sides open so they end up without internal faces and then used the options to close the outside edges as shown. I think that's what makes this so great and helpful. Basically there won't need to be much prep for 3D printing. It should just be the standard 3D toolbox check and fix and then either triangular them in Blender or leave it and hope the algorithms do it right and I bring it into 3DBuilder for one final check and fix.

      Hmm.... Its a bit difficult to diagnose remotely but I would guess it is one of the following issues, firstly that the rotation isnt applied to the object you're trying to tesselate or its orientated incorrectly. Regardless of the direction/rotation it is meant to "end" at after the tessellation it needs to be made with the up (positive z axis) being the direction you want facing outwards when tessellated. I hope that helps.
