Honestly Ben, I can probably speak for the majority of your followers. It doesn’t matter what you shoot, we just want to see you compete, grind and bring us along the way. The content is amazing and as long as you keep uploading there will always be someone that will want to watch. Don’t give up !
Really enjoy the way you edit the content...short, sweet and to the point...no fuss with a meaningful comment occasionally....we are so behind you...just a matter of time now!
Love the grind dude. I know im just a keyboard warrior but in some of these tournaments I just think you should let it rip and use your distance as an advantage. A lot of long hitters mastered smashing driver without fear and became great, you got that talent. 💪
What you're suggesting Is a mindset and strategy. I agree with it. But he hasn't developed the mechanical ability to be able to keep the ball in front of him enough playing that way. Nobody cares for fairways at that level... he just can't be hitting it off the planet like he was this year. I hope he gets the dispersion tightened up so he can do these things more frequently
Yeah, there is a difference between just gripping and ripping and being in the rough vs gripping and ripping and being in a hazard or behind trees or just 40 yards away from where you should be. I'm sure he, and everyone, would just grip and rip if their miss was just 5 yards into the rough, but the miss is just so much more than that...and you can't do that.
@@RhinoViper yeah I get you guys I’m just saying, as someone who is trying to turn pro myself if I had his speed I’d focus more on that. Getting too mechanical sometimes and focusing on hitting a lot of 2 irons will get you lost I think. And you never saw big hitters do that. He hits a lot of 2 irons ob or out of play too, so it was just a thought because it’s Not like he’s playing in pga tour rough.
Love your content Ben! Love your attitude, your honestly and always rooting for you. There is so much great golf content on youtube right now but your length and pace of your videos make them much more digestible when you don't have to time to watch a hour+ video. Keep up the grind and one way or another it will be worth it!
Currently my favorite UA-camr to watch. Loving the real, raw golf. Sorry to see you struggle but better days are ahead! And LOL “…a course made for babies.”
Keep it up, Ben! Golf is a fickle game full of ups and downs. Slumps come and go, you’ll be shooting 60’s again eventually. Regardless, I’m sure most of us are still thoroughly entertained even when you’re shooting 70’s. We’re not going anywhere. Always press!
Golf is a lot on it's own, don't worry about us watching as well. You being the solid person you are is why we watch, you're not defined by the score you post Ben.
First golf vid I've watched in a while since college foozball has taken over my brain. Always like to see the grind and get motivated myself. Best of luck as always.
Really enjoy the videos and appreciate Ben’s game. For whatever it’s worth i would say to Ben, Don’t let your brain tell your body what it almost instinctively knows what to do. Worrying if we like it or not, or any other any other added pressure needs to out of your head.
I know it's silly to try and give advice to someone at your level when I'm a (very) high-handicapper, but two things I've learned on my way to high levels of success in other avenues in my life are: don't get stagnant, and play to your strengths. The Decade system make sense on paper, numbers don't lie, etc., but you have to know (and play) your game. Remember: you can't be good off the tee AND approach AND chipping AND putting all at once. Maximize the things you're good at (Driver/woods seem to be in a better place right now than earlier this year) and minimize the things you're struggling with (iron/approach play). And yes, sometimes you don't know what's working or not working for that day until you're on the course, but you've been golfing long enough to know how your body is working on any given day/in any given stretch. Trust that intuition and don't make a decision solely because "the numbers say I have to hit x club." You also had a couple bad three putts because of (in your words) mental lapses due to frustrations from the previous shot(s). When you're on the green, breathe and take time to do your process for every putt, no matter how short.
you've been one of my favorite golfers on youtube, this one was clearly a mental thing for you, keep your head up and get confidant and you'll be cruising to the top!
Great content Ben, very real in terms of the struggle that most of us go through. My opinion, for what it's worth (not a lot), you're just over thinking your game so much. You're an amazingly talented golfer through all areas of the game. Have a few range sessions where you just try and hit at a target, forget the technique work. Anyway, love the content, keep it coming - and if anything make the videos a bit longer!
Keep Pressing. Those greens are diabolical. Stat tracking with 18Birdie showed me where i missed and by how much helped me. It can also show where and which yardages to work on.
youve got my support keep grinding. Obviously this is on a way different plane but I was shooting 79-75's for a few months at my local course and then all of the sudden rounds of 88, 91, 86 and 84. Kept grinding and now I'm in the low 70s shooting even better than I did before. If I can do it, you can too
Right on the cusp of greatness my friend. We all know you’re capable and with your work ethic it will happen. Good luck!! Any chance we can get a leaderboard update at the end of these tournament vids?
We hear ya Ben keep going. I played in a scramble recently as a A player my handicap is a 4 I usually do really well in scrambles and I let my team down and played like crap couldn't do anything the worst I've ever played in a scramble was a bit embarrassed but this game will do that to you. Just gotta keep going
Been a channel fan for a long time & have never seen you look out of sync with your short game. Nothing a wedge session with a little music in your ear holes can't fix. #RespectTheGrind
I'm rooting for you man, I'm living vicariously through you. I used to play in similar events 25 years ago. You're a huge talent With that being said, have you considered an equipment change? Everything looks so spinny. Maybe a different ball? I know you've got speed to burn maybe I'm not used to that but it just seems like the ball balloons on you almost immediately after it leaves the club. Good luck, wish you the best
I have played a lot of tournament golf. I never played the PGA Tour, but I did play professionally for several years. My advice to you is to keep it simple. When I was struggling, I would take more club and hit more punch shots from 150 yards and in. Distance is great off the tee, but you have to control your golf ball on your approach shots. It's not how good your good shots are, it's how good your bad shots are.
Take a deep breath, relax and believe in yourself. The worst result is you build a strong following on youtube ......and many are making that work as a viable income. There is no failing for you. Play the PGA or UA-cam .....or both :) You got this Ben.
You will dial in the approach shots. Keep it up! Thanks for the vid as always. :) No OB. Can’t save every par when you miss greens. More greens and you’ll be threatening course records.
You know that feeling when you are in a really good spell in sport or activity that relates to your hands and you feel as though you can't do anything wrong. Like the cliche "feel as though the sword is an extension of your arm". It could be possible that a significant amount of players get caught up in the technicals of their craft when they might benefit from finding that feeling. On the course I often find myself thinking about technique to much and perhaps not enough sword. Just something to consider especially for a guy that I'm sure is familiar with that feeling. Love the grind! Hate to be in the comments trying to give a tip but I thought it might be helpful :)
Mate, keep pushing, keep playing and keep your chin up. Yeah, you've played a few average rounds lately, but all while working on a huuuuge swing change. BIG DEAL! you're a fighter and we are all behind you. You'll look back on this time with great pride from the lofty heights you're headed to, and we'll all be smiling with you. You've got this. #AlwaysPress
You are a grinder Ben. I admire your grit. I was getting frustrated for you. Quite a few of your irons went short and right with that high cut you have. Wanted to see you club up and knock some down. Keep grinding. Im always rooting for you.
great video mate. you're an amazing player. A casual observation, something about your swing all looks a little big which seems to create inconsistency, especially off the tee. Your recovery play and shot making is quite amazing when you're in form
Keep it up Ben, this is the best golf content on UA-cam at the moment, for me anyways. Full 18 holes in just 16 and a half minutes, of a round that really means something, instead of hour long, or more, meaningless rounds full of unnecessary 'banter' that you get from some other channels. Keep it up.
Like you said, a lot of iron approaches are way off. Maybe using heavier wedges, and iron clubheads to get more feel, and to slow down the iron swings a bit. Let the club, and clubhead do the work. Iron face angle at the exact moment of impact is the dominating factor in directional control (technically 84% face angle at impact with the rest of 16% clubhead path at impact.) Have the bottom edge of the clubface of wedges, and irons perfectly squared under the back of the ball at impact ensures a squared clubface contact at impact for an approach straight to the hole. From 150 yards in, the ball should land within 6 feet of the landing target. From 120 yards in, the ball should land within 3 feet of the target landing point. There often should be hole outs of chips, pitches, and short irons, when the approaches are hit with very squared faces at impact.
hello Ben, i"ve been looking at your videos lately, I've played pro for a good many years, years ago in Europe and in north america, the thing i notice is to try and eleminate careless mistakes, you seem to be a very good ball striker and distance is not a issue, putting is always we try to get better at.....But eleminating those careless mistakes will help you go much farther in your quest. try to create a go too shot and maybe play a bit more the percentage shots, what diferentiates a good player from a great player are those little mistakes here and there.....For whatever it's worth to you! good luck on your quest!!
Ben, please don’t take this the wrong way. But do you need a caddy? Only experience I have is that I carried a friends bag in a charity event. Avid golfer 7 handicap and would do it for Pennies on the dollar. Love the videos and keep up the grind!
Reach out to Liam Robinson. Your swing is taylormade for his style of coaching. Every other pro in the world seems to be calling him after helping Brandon Robinson Thompson qualify for DP
It’s posting the bad rounds that keep the audience coming back. Most golfer on the planet would celebrate days under 110, so seeing someone better struggle makes it relatable.
I think you should work a corporate job. You shot 4 over on a chip and putt course that’s like shooting 80 and you’re devoting your whole life to this lol. Seriously I think doing something else would relieve the stress and pressure you put on yourself and you’d end up playing much better.
2 great up and downs followed by 2 brain dead bogeys. You need more gummies Ben 😂. Some might say Ben has built his game around carnage. Keep grinding bro
Hi Ben, good videos 👍 my name is Shaun parkes I played semi pro snooker for about 10 years reaching a world ranking of around 120 and played for England 2009, you are doing what I was doing for the first few years, putting way too much focus on your swing and not enough on shooting low scores and winning, it looks like your about 80% swing 20% game, try to level it out more, when I was playing in big competitions I focused 100% on the game and winning, my advice would be play your own game the copycat method doesn’t work, I’m now coaching some professional snooker players, Hope this helps and keep trying 👍
Hey big man, before I start you’re a stud and definitely better than me. I would definitely agree that your approach game has deteriorated a little bit, and I would say that and chipping this round is what killed you. Most of the approach shots to me looked like you were dragging the hands through impact and up to the top, which shows when the club face is more square to you at the top of your swing. This happened a lot and looked like the reason a lot of balls came up short and fanned right probably meaning the ball wasn’t compressed well like you usually do. It just looked like you were holding the club off and wouldn’t let it release. The ones that you did release the club which were a couple ended up going long of the pin and I’m not talking about the ones you pulled. This swing change looks like it’s really helping you off of the tee with the driver and 2 iron, it seems like it’s limiting your release compared to over releasing like you used to do, but it seems to be hurting your approach game. I love the feel for the driver and off the tee but I would try and let the hands release a bit more with the approach game. But I’m just a 3 handicap and you’re probably a +3 if not better. Just wanted to try and let you know what I see. Always Press big man.
At your level there's zero chance you should let any coach get into your swing without definitive data. I believe you should do a full session at TPI with Dr Rose. Then use that real data to inform your next steps. You've got the strategy dialled with math from Decade, treat your swing the same. Without the 3D and force plate info, you're really just guessing. It's 2024 use the modern tools we have now.
15:10 - "i do not know where all these strokes are laying" - this is what I saw and is no way an insult to your skill Biggest issue shown in the tournament was distance control with 2nd shots (wedges, irons) or a GIR shot for par 5. You were constantly overshooting the flag and putting down hill or having to chip on from 20-30 yds off the green where the ball is going to release down hill. You were constantly scrambling from off the green to save PAR. Makes it hard to shoot low in windy conditions. Way too many lag putts coming downhill. It is just impossible to judge the speed right 100% of the time and make it a reliable way to shoot a good score. Looked like you were trying to take the 'harder than needs to be' approach to the flags where you are attacking the pin itself instead of landing it in a zone where your putting (which was phenomenal and the main reason you are +4 in the tournament outside of FIR). You constantly attacked the green where your ball would be a downhill putt to the flag even if you didn't go pass the flag. Perfect example is 14:01 you can see it clearly is a downhill slope going left to right, the pin is tucked between 2 slopes. Your thought process (I'm assuming) on the shot done is to bounce on the fringe, land on the downslope and release down the hill toward the flag. It bounced soft which is what had been going on all video, you were not going to get the bounce you imagined. The guy who is on the back slope (behind the flag) has an initial ~1 foot downhill roll but then it goes uphill. You completely ignored the entire right side of the flag. Look at it 14:10 it is a much more straight forward easy putt with slight uphill to it. If anything you would have had a gentle left to right up hill put that probably would be inside left edge. Instead you were left with this really precarious downhill uphill downhill again putt that you leave short, because of the downhill aspect and looked like you were aiming 3 feet right of the cup (based on camera angle so probably less). Sometimes getting the ball to a more "favorable" area of green to putt at the flag is better than hoping the ball does exactly how you drew a shot up in your head. You made uphill putts more consistently and stress free when you had them on your round 7:40 is perfect example of this. Bunker shot in 18, i am assuming just too much power (on accident) because you almost dunked it instead of landing it short and letting it release a little. The tee shot, it seemed like you hit it good but spun it like crazy which is why it was short in the bunker. It seemed very windy during the round and maybe it is because its not a Trackman/foresight outdoor tracer, but your balls were going super high for the wind that was going on in the video. I expected more flighted piercing shots on par 3s, but maybe the grip/swing changes those are still in progress. Unless it is just the external post production shot tracer exaggerating the line which it could be. Your game is CLEARLY trending in the upward trajectory and even better with the swing and grip changes you are doing. Contact is more flush, consistent...now its just practice practice. Things you should put extra practice into (outside of normal practice): 1. Observing greens from fairway (slopes, pin location, desired landing areas) 2. Pick a zone on the green and hit 10 balls to it in a row so within 5-10 yds of each other 3. Try to land & stop 3 yds short of a flag's yardage - consistently. You will land short and below a flag (if uphill is observed from fairway) so you give yourself 9 feet uphill putts consistently which looks like you make 90% of the time. 4. Dial in consistent yardage swings for wedges (for me I do a clock system 9-10-1030-11) 5. Work more on in between shots with Irons to nail certain numbers (for me I do a clock system 9-10-1030-11) 6. Try to flight shots out of the wind at typical par 3 distances to have that in the sling ready to go during windy tournaments. Remember it isn't just about tracking the stats, but its about reviewing the shots too. I marked up a yardage book from a course with a pencil and put an X on each spot (best guess) where i took my shot from (minus tee shots & putts). If you can find a putting slope yardage book or website where you can look at the slopes before a tournament that would tell you best places to land approach shots. You can mark up a course's yardage book with your research if the tournament doesn't allow a dedicated putting slope book. USGA allows hand written putting slope information so long as it conforms to rules outlined on their site. USGA also has guidelines for PRINTED putting slope products Next tournament I expect the +4 ceiling to be shattered and a -2 round to take place. Don't beat yourself up too much over the round. It was a good round! Just a few things to keep working on for the next one.
Ben , go back to your stronger grip with the irons. the weaker grip has definitely helped with driver, but you were already a great iron player with your stronger grip.
Keep grinding 🤙🏼🤙🏼

keep grinding. i love watching the tournament videos.

Ben you said it yourself approach play has been the biggest concern. fall in love with your irons again
Ben, are you getting any starts on the other tour where you have conditional status and which tour was it?
Canadian tour i think
@joetube-s5b , either that or Latin America. I think it may have been LA
@@gregdavis2364 Americas tour is the one I have a card on right now, hot Canadian starts a couple years ago
Reach out to Liam Robinson. Your swing is taylormade for his style of coaching. Every other pro in the world seems to be calling him after helping Brandon Robinson Thompson qualify for DP
Let's freaking go 🏌️
Its golf Ben. Stay strong bro.
It’s posting the bad rounds that keep the audience coming back. Most golfer on the planet would celebrate days under 110, so seeing someone better struggle makes it relatable.
I don’t think those gummies are working. 😆😆
Back again!!
Keep Er Lit
griiiiinding
I think you should work a corporate job. You shot 4 over on a chip and putt course that’s like shooting 80 and you’re devoting your whole life to this lol. Seriously I think doing something else would relieve the stress and pressure you put on yourself and you’d end up playing much better.
Please, on next tournaments, mention what the winner shot , or what the cutline was ....
Even though it’s the crushed shells, on #1 wouldn’t it be considered a cart path too (so could you have gotten relief)?
2 great up and downs followed by 2 brain dead bogeys. You need more gummies Ben 😂. Some might say Ben has built his game around carnage. Keep grinding bro
Hi Ben, good videos 👍 my name is Shaun parkes I played semi pro snooker for about 10 years reaching a world ranking of around 120 and played for England 2009, you are doing what I was doing for the first few years, putting way too much focus on your swing and not enough on shooting low scores and winning, it looks like your about 80% swing 20% game, try to level it out more, when I was playing in big competitions I focused 100% on the game and winning, my advice would be play your own game the copycat method doesn’t work,
I’m now coaching some professional snooker players,
Hope this helps and keep trying 👍
have you stuck with the grip changes you were struggling with a few vids back??
You’re never a million miles away even though it seems like it at times keep at it !
Love this.
GIR and 3 putts? Didn’t see a lot of pin seeker shots. You can do it!
Keep working. It'll pay off. Looked like you were swinging harder this tournament. I didn't hear the after impact grunts in the last video.
Iron game, especially the wedges need ALOT of work!
15:10 - "i do not know where all these strokes are laying" - this is what I saw and is no way an insult to your skill
Biggest issue shown in the tournament was distance control with 2nd shots (wedges, irons) or a GIR shot for par 5.
Things you should put extra practice into (outside of normal practice):
1. Observing greens from fairway (slopes, pin location, desired landing areas)
2. Pick a zone on the green and hit 10 balls to it in a row so within 5-10 yds of each other
3. Try to land & stop 3 yds short of a flag's yardage - consistently. You will land short and below a flag (if uphill is observed from fairway) so you give yourself 9 feet uphill putts consistently which looks like you make 90% of the time.
4. Dial in consistent yardage swings for wedges (for me I do a clock system 9-10-1030-11)
5. Work more on in between shots with Irons to nail certain numbers (for me I do a clock system 9-10-1030-11)
USGA also has guidelines for PRINTED putting slope products
Next tournament I expect the +4 ceiling to be shattered and a -2 round to take place. Don't beat yourself up too much over the round. It was a good round! Just a few things to keep working on for the next one.
Ben , go back to your stronger grip with the irons. the weaker grip has definitely helped with driver, but you were already a great iron player with your stronger grip.
Put that LABB putter in the garbage please. It's not for you.
Feeling for you. I know you're so frustrated with your ballstriking.
Itll round a corner soon. Find the right things to work on. I support you
I would legit have 48 putts a round on those greens.
Should i eat a Gummie-every hole?
My jaw will get sore.
I dont even chew gum...or eat little lollies etc
Joey cold cuts made a better score than you on hole 2 a few months ago…that’s enough reason to get better HAHA
Love everything you do man but you swing your full iron shots like you’re trying to pound a driver
"didn't work", so.....moved on from your coach and his method?
first
You look lost!
Ur swing is looking miserable lately
If your swing and your golf were better before you started trying to "improve" doesn't seem sensible to go back to what your were doing before?
