In my opinion, MREs and other field rations with flameless heaters are great for milsim games lasting 24+ hours. Hot meals are a FANTASTIC morale booster.
The video is helpful, but Military MREs are better than you think. They provide more calories, vitamins, and other nutrients that you need than you give them credit for. And if the excuse for not using them is they take too long to prepare, I used to eat them during school lunch when I went to ninth grade. I had more time to eat than I would have by waiting in line, picking out the food, waiting in line to pay, walking around aimless trying to find a seat, then eating. Plus if the military uses the MREs, then they are more than good enough for us civies to use.
Lane, you are honestly the most underrated channels on UA-cam. I'm always recommending you to friends and airsoft groups, I really truly wish you luck with your channel bro
I physically can't do milsim. But if my son's is going to one, they are rare here in Thailand. I can review this and some others. you are very informative. that video with you and ehouse i really liked, too.
Don't bring just water bring gatorade/Powerade. You sweat out electrolytes and they need to be replenished. If not your heart will start to throw arrhythmias and can cause PVC's (premature ventricular contractions) which is very bad. Mix the gatorade/Powerade with water basically 50/50. It'll help a lot.
My #1 tip: know you will be under or over prepared for your first one. After that, you will know if you were under or over prepared, and you will know what to do solve that problem. I am saying this for a Milsim West (yes i know this video isn’t for a MSW), I did my first one back in may (strike on salsk). Went with my dad and a few friends. I packed WAY to heavy so I carried around a lot more than needed, and I was not prepared AT ALL. One thing I recommend if you’re going to a MSW: TRAIN. Train your endurance and your shooting skills. I would recommend rucking with ~40lbs or so (1-2miles) every day or every other day. As well as just going for runs without weight. I would also be sure to DRINK ALOT OF WATER!! I didn’t drink enough and almost collapsed a couple times. I am 14, so I definitely don’t have the endurance as a lot of people, but I do train and workout on the regular. I plan on going to another MSW soon!
As far as camping , showering , and food, get yourself a used towable popup trailer or an Rv. If you are a long term player the savings adds up like crazy, as you bring all you need with you at a more controlled cost.
Hey great video dude, very informative. I would say though that MREs or Civilian Heater Meals are definitely necessary for a Milsim. They are designed to give you the proper amount of sugars, sodium, starch’s, protein, and overall calories to stay active and energized... I would highly discourage relying on only nuts, protein bars, and beef jerky.
radios are useful at pickup games, there's a reason why whenever I'm medic and at least 1 to 2 people on the team also have radios our entire team is still alive when there's 1 enemy left.
if you're doing multiple day events, MREs. i would avoid high salt foods like jerky or trail mix. they will cause you to consume more water. two MREs per day is what we did when we went to Custer for the weekend.
Solid advice brother... I am looking forward to my first Milsim event, I have been obsessed with it for some years now, but now I have my gear and pretty much ready to go.
Hi top boots won't keep you from rolling your ankle. What they will do if you do roll your ankle is break your fibia in two places and your tibia half way around leaving you in a cast for 5 months. I wear running shoes now.
You want a REALLY COOL Milsim? Try doing it in 18th or 19th century gear. Been a reenactor for most of my life. And trust me, some of the tactical engagements can be.....intense. Including when you are a sharpshooter, and harass flanking and going for the officers of a formation...with smoke, noise, BANG, and so on. Unrehearsed, unchorigraphed. Oh and the camping out, maybe partying too much? Next day with a headache? CLASSIC! Only to repeat with breakfest and a cup of joe. 😁😁😁😂😂😂
For the more seasoned players here, probably the best advice he gave IMO is "even tho there is moments that suck, just remember how much fun youre going to have". I know that sounds lame but don't let a sour 5 minutes ruin 24 hours. My last milsim, within the first hour i had a bad moment with some slick enemy snipers, there was an argument, and i just walked away. The rest of the day was spent with good teammates and plenty of kills. Dont take the game too serious
And for the rádio a litle tip use the New dual ppt baofeng rádio, one privada frequencie/ Chanel for the team mates, and other for the team faction like we do in here :) and keep doing your reviews they are great and you are a guy that thinks, congrats
i like a lot your review, i agree with everithing, well, not the canteen stuff :) but i noticed that your concept of milsim is totaly diferent from Portugal, we spend almost a week in the bushes, no bath and some times no water only if we can find it, :)

I anyways wear a t-shirt from June-august but if it's super close CQB you could use a rolled up jacket. I'd carry as much water as you feel comfortable with; it's not like you won't use it at some point
I’m just nervous to go and don’t think I’m going to actually go. I just don’t have any friends. I’ve met a few fellow airsofters at my local field but haven’t really cliqued up with anyone. Why do you think that belt with more weights is obnoxious? Belt are one of the best options for carrynig stuff.Of course if someone is using range belt as a battle belt it's awful experience, but good battle belt with suspenders have a great advantage over chest rig in many sytuation. It's not cool and popular this days but utility of good belt is hard to be overrated
The closed caption option says you're the "BB Lawyer". Hey I haven't been to a milsim ever, but I was wondering if you could tell me if events like that try to be as true to military simulation that I can get away with digging a trench or shell scrape, of if milism events are more like "Everyone run forward and BB the fuck out of the other guys! Huah!!"? I take it the format of an event is that there's game time and sleep time? Like does everyone play for X amount of time and then get called in for head counts, meals and bed before waking up at Y o'clock? I'm hoping that players have the option to sleep out in the field, as to me that would be part of the "sim" half of "milsim". But if not, nothing to worry about. Anyway, thanks for the vid. Yours was the first one I clicked on when looking for "what to bring to milsim".
It depends on the event promoter. Some events are more casual, and are essentially just huge force on force games where as other go more into simulation and force you to sleep in the field and dig trenches. This video is more geared towards those casual events; because the packing list is significantly different between the two styles. I'd take a look at Milsim West and Desert Fox Events; they're run by the same people, but are geared towards two different audiences. Jet Desert Fox has great videos on both event series.

I agree, while MREs are better heated up. When I go to Milsim I just pop mine open and eat it cold which does not require prep like he said
All you need for eating mountain house is a bottle of water to pour in and 3 mins, the food is pre-cooked and dehydrated.

As a backpacker, I use sneaker style hiking shoes. Weather I am airsofting or packing, I like the ankle mobility that they provide.
If your still want to run a Plate Carrier, run a JPC version, they're lighter and are more breathable
I would not shy away from military surplus goods, they are good deals with great quality for the money

"military simulation" ---> sleep in a hotel room. C'mon...
Go to a MSW game then
Living in norcal, that's what I do. Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night to blank fire and a NATO squad around you.
Is there an age restriction on milsim events
Depending on the event organizer typically 13-16
In my opinion most people who play airsoft would not make it 1 hour in actual combat
airsoft is a game
