Shotguns are amazing when indoors and you have lots of cover. Popping someone for 80 and then dipping behind a corner before they can even touch you is just a very strong play
The problem with shotguns is if you increase their effective range they could very easily become overpowered but if you increase their damage they become 2 shot kills on most armor levels. Like with the carepackage pk and mastiff.

Pk is not always viable in high level ranked but at the end of the day a shotgun is the only thing in the game aside from the sniper rifles that let you dump like 100 damage on someone while taking no damage yourself.

A few things , we can probably agree sweats are not the same as pros, then shotguns are really good at that close range and can pop people, characters like octane can gen on your face and make it do max damage and those are also flashy guns. Also in pro level like talked here nobody will be pushing with out their team so there will be no like revemant octane or pathfinder pushing alone to pk your face and then run. Most of the sweats also dont care if they die in that trade

That’s the whole reason as to why the peacekeeper has the ability to charge and tighten the shot into a bullet. You’re supposed to utilize cover to your advantage so they miss most of their damage while yours is instant. You can easily destroy an smg user indoors if you take cover somehow after every shot. That’s actually the whole point as to why Gibby has a shotgun reload evo upgrade. His E creates a temporary pseudo-indoor situation and maggie is best when you’re not entirely out in the open. It’s like saying snipers are useless too if you cherry pick situations where you end up indoors. Shotguns scaling with ring size is also another thing to consider. It’s not that complicated.
Hammerpoint Mozambique even with a purple bolt is way more deadly and works very much like a wingman. Ive beat smg red sheild players with it and it always comes help me clutch up.

Play ballistic grab an AR and pk and stash a pk. When you use your ult switch between the pks after each shot instead of waiting and go for hipfire only.

Luckily the Mastiff this season got a pellet reduction/damage buff, essentially making its spread tighter... Making it a good weapon for final blows... The Peacekeeper is a sort of one hit wonder in the fact that you need to hit the first shot to either down someone or to apply enough pressure for a second shot... With a stock or a bolt does make it more forgiving however... The Eva 8's spread if pretty good because it makes it impossible to not hit someone... But then again its Dropoff and damage is piss poor, especially when the Akimbo Mozam exists 💀
Nah fam. All weapons can be beastly, although with disruptors and PK with disruptors is beastly. Pair the pk with a flatline, or kitted Re-45 with hammers and if you hit your shots you're slaying. Have teammates with 301's and longbows or whatever and it's good. I've cleaned up squads with a rush Peacekeeper rounding a corner hitting for 125 or 100 when the team hasn't healed.

It also depends a lot on which map you are playing on. World's Edge and King Canyon will almost always end up in long range fights, while Broken Moon is more likely to be a medium to close range fights.
also since everyone plays on a controller now (i do as well so don’t get mad) the close range tracking aim assist will let you one mag someone effortlessly 90% of the time before they can do more than 100 damage with a shotgun
I run mastiff and 30-30, and I tend to do very good in my fights. Then again I have my days where I can’t hit anything and will just run 301 and Car/Volt😂

These are the best guns for corner peaking, bubble fighting, Newcastle shield play, zipline movement, etc. This is not good for pro style play which is long, drawn out, usually at range for most of the game, and then at the end, DPS dependant. For any movement player, casual pub player, and ranked player, the shotgun meta is very much alive due to the much larger variety of play styles and character encounters. Gibby/Newcastle aren’t really meta in pro play but you run into them a lot more in pubs/ranked. Zipline movement plays are also seemingly pretty absent from pro play too, but every movement player in pubs does it all day every day lol. This is strictly talking about pro play which plays wildly different than even ranked does.
The peacekeeper can best any smg in the right place i always run doubble smg or pk smg there is no downside since if somone is long range i dont peak them. Its easy to hit 70-100 with the pk most shots if you actually only shoot when you are dead centre people conplain about hitting 9s bit 99% of the time its just bad aim.
I enjoy the sniper rifle shotgun combo, don’t care about what’s optimal or min max ing my gameplay. Just want to get better by using challenging weapons.

If I grab a peacekeeper I always grab a g7 or a wingman if I can find one. That's how you pair it up, abuse cover, never be in the open unless you're at sniper distances.

I use a PK & Longbow/Sentinel as Vantage on Olympus & World's edge. I hang back and am lethal. Where it comes to pushing it's always my mate's first, or myself if I deal a tide shifting amount of damage. It works. And it works well. The key is peaking in & out of cover, even at longer ranges just choking the PK is ruthless. Ended on Diamond 2 last split, with Masters last season. I'm not obsessed with the game or anything - don't even really consider myself all that good. It's just strategising, hitting your shots, and positioning. So I'll disagree. Excluding larger maps outside of end games ofc.
I think you're playing shotguns like you play SMG's. In order to use them, you need to plan and adjust how you move/rotate. The map you're on plays a big role as well. I play vantage. As such, we usually always maintain mid-range until we get close. I pair it with a sentinel or 30-30. I get fairly consistant wins and, whilst I appreciate an apex pro talking about this, I think you're wrong on this.
Purple mozam with hammers is SOOOOOO slept on tho, 45-45-45-60 dead in like 2 seconds flat. Just gotta hit ur shots and play the crouching/rock game well
Ive taken this tip into games, and ive been frying. R301, nemesis, or flatline, or hemlok with any smg (ill usually pass up on an r9 for an alternator) Its improved my damage output, averaging 1.2k damage a game. I hit 2 4ks yesterday too because of this. Thanks Wattson

I can pretty consistently 3 shot someone(Red armor) w a PK. If I’m moving and shooting shotguns are OP. No ADS, PK Reload’s on slides. Bad matchups for shotguns are long distance guns and lmgs at mid range. Smgs close up are a toss up to me. I run Volt+ Pk
My go-to combo is honestly Hemlock/R3 but that's cause I can't control the CAR or R9 recoil (I'm bad at the game, but at least I'm honest!!!) But I do on occasion grab the Mastiff in place of the R3

I use a PK & Longbow/Sentinel as Vantage on Olympus & World's edge. I hang back and am lethal.
Where it comes to pushing it's always my mate's first, or myself if I deal a tide shifting amount of damage.
It works. And it works well. The key is peaking in & out of cover, even at longer ranges just choking the PK is ruthless.
Ended on Diamond 2 last split, with Masters last season.
I'm not obsessed with the game or anything - don't even really consider myself all that good. It's just strategising, hitting your shots, and positioning.

I think you're playing shotguns like you play SMG's.
In order to use them, you need to plan and adjust how you move/rotate. The map you're on plays a big role as well.
I play vantage. As such, we usually always maintain mid-range until we get close. I pair it with a sentinel or 30-30. I get fairly consistant wins and, whilst I appreciate an apex pro talking about this, I think you're wrong on this.
Purple mozam with hammers is SOOOOOO slept on tho, 45-45-45-60 dead in like 2 seconds flat. Just gotta hit ur shots and play the crouching/rock game well
Ive taken this tip into games, and ive been frying. R301, nemesis, or flatline, or hemlok with any smg (ill usually pass up on an r9 for an alternator) Its improved my damage output, averaging 1.2k damage a game. I hit 2 4ks yesterday too because of this. Thanks Wattson
Yeah, I love shotguns in games and it pains me to see them done so terribly in games, Like COME ON, it is a DEDICATED CLOSE RANGE WEAPON that is mobile and this like a truck but games like this make them pathetic unless you are in someone's face and make them unable to beat even the most pathetic of ars and smgs.

I can pretty consistently 3 shot someone(Red armor) w a PK. If I’m moving and shooting shotguns are OP. No ADS, PK Reload’s on slides.
Bad matchups for shotguns are long distance guns and lmgs at mid range. Smgs close up are a toss up to me. I run Volt+ Pk
My go-to combo is honestly Hemlock/R3 but that's cause I can't control the CAR or R9 recoil (I'm bad at the game, but at least I'm honest!!!)
But I do on occasion grab the Mastiff in place of the R3
Cap. I run 30-30 Mastiff/PK and I run shit. I also main Mad Maggie too. And her speed boost w shotty + he4 wrecking ball = complete chaos
