@@tylercritelli587, I prefer a 24in for most cutting in my woodyard. A 20in males it harder to work the log pile. Now bucking trees is a different thing, especially really brushy ones. Then I like a 20in or shorter bar.

I switched from Husqvarna to Stihl and now to Echo. After all I can say that those Echo saws are far more reliable than the new Husqvarna or Stihl Saws. Downside is that the Echos are mostly a bit heavier and have less power. After the 620SX and 390Sx, the 7310SX is as heavy as their competitors and have the same power as Stihl and Husqvarna. I'm pretty impressed of the 7310. Also the 7310 have a good anti vibration system. Only downside is that Echos mostly need a lot of time to break in. If the saw is broken in, it will gain more power.
Love my 7310! Such an underrated saw. I had mine ported by a guy I found on UA-cam named Charles brisco and it has turned into my favorite saw I’ve ever run to be honest.
Good morning from Piqua Ohio. I see you're demonstrating the echo 7310. I have the same saw 28 inch bar. I put a 24 inch bar on it. 24-in bars much faster in the cut.
I've found out that when cutting say a tank of gad in the saw and then splitting, it works out really well to stack the rounds in preparation of splitting instead of tossing them to the side. Takes a few minutes longer to clear the cutting area but saves a ton of time later on. By the way, I've narrowed my splitter search to four models. Two Wolfe Ridge and two Eastonmade models. Now to get splitting, stacking, selling, cutting, then more splitting and stacking and selling to pay for it.

I don't know didley about saws, but echo makes a damn fine trimmer. The srm and pas systems are almost bulletproof. Even those little 225 residential models, you can't kill them using them day in, day out commercially. Just awesome! (I like husky trimmers too)
With my Echo 590, I get almost 2.5 facecords split and stacked per tank of fuel. The muffler mod I did seems to help cutting speed without being too loud.
Nice saw review. We have an Echo dealer with in an hour. Great warranties on them! Corey did a fine job in the woodyard! Smooth operating the tractor! And the ending was great with there goes Pepe in the woodyard!

CS7310 73.5cc 5.5hp 14.9#’s ($800) The best ECHO made is the CS620 ($525) 60cc 5hp w/mm 13.2#’s 27” bar!! They run like a 70cc saw with the long stroke TQ, even though they look like a Timberwolf CS590 ($400) it’s a totally different saw. No other saw make/model can come close to the 620’s power/specs for the price! ‘Great video you guys, keep on cutting’

Listening to the 7310 it sounds under powered with the 28 in bar . I’ll bet it works better with a 24 in bar , and I’m guessing you have a short stove to burn those short round’s in great videos, I always enjoy them. Keep on cutting . Skunk’s love white grubs that live just under the surface ,they feed on grass roots.
They will all get the job done if you take care of them and respect em.... I'm just a stihl guy. Don't think I could ever put my 391 down or my 290. Great video though. This for sharing !
I prefer Stihl but I have a bunch of saws from others including Echo, Husqvarna, Makita, RedMax which is just a red Husqvarna, an old John Deere not sure who made it I think maybe Echo or their parent company and I have an old Homelite. The saw I use the most anymore is probably my Makita DCS6421 really like that saw but where I live Stihl dealers are everywhere and I only know of one Husqvarna dealer might be more but I only know for sure of one and the guy is an asshole lol. So I can get Stihl service and parts all over and one Husqvarna and the guy is an asshole lol closest Stihl is only a few miles away too the Husqvarna I have to drive a half hour to get to. Same with both of my other houses Stihl all over and I really like the Stihl chains over any others.

😂 "Punky wood" Thanks for putting a smile on my face today Chris! You illustrated a perfect example of running a chain with the rakers filed too low. Cutting firewood is tough on a chain. Cutting with the rakers too low is tough on the saw (especially), bar, chain and you. My saws and I suffered with setting the rakers too low until I learned better, alot of folks do. An improperly sharpened chain is the reason your saws run hot and you feel the need to switch them out and give them a break. I hope this helps you'all, that's why I comment on it.
Very true I figured out how to use husky raker gauge gadget and a world of a difference. Shake my head every he says one pass. Like just use tool way faster and easier.

I have learned over the year's from felling mixed hardwoods to sharpen my chains to cut the best in Hard Maple, so even if the next tree I come to is a Basswood it will cut just fine, but if I sharpen for Basswood, pine, etc it will not be any good in harder woods. Obviously if I am cutting a softwood stand I will use chains sharpened for that. What I see here is the aggressive chain is really overworking the saw, causing the clutch to stall out. The saw is unable to stay at its peak power rpm which causes not only the saw to work harder causing heat buildup, but also less fan speed to cool efficiently. The same thing happens when running a saw with a dull chain, one of the biggest causes of a blown up saw. A properly sharpened chain is the biggest performance enhancement you can do to your saw.

It was a little much today but another sharpening or so and it will right on again. Great video guys. It kinda sounded like the echo had a wee bit more low end than the 572xp maybe. 572xp was faster for sure but the low end on that echo seemed a bit stronger maybe. Cheers.
7310 looks great. I have whatever the babiest Echo saw they make is - no idea what model number - but it's ickle. It's also one of their cheapest saws, if not the cheapest. It has a 14" bar I believe. I could wander into the shed & grab a bigger, rortier saw off the shelf, but I seldom do as that ickle Echo blasts through timber like the stuff you're sawing in the video Chris. I love it as it is light, easy to wield, I keep the chain razor sharp & it sips fuel - when I do have bigger stuff to cut, the amount of fuel larger saws gulp down is very noticeable. The little Echo uses very little in a full day in the forest felling & bucking to length. I think a lot of the "I need a big saw!" stuff is misplaced ego tbh. There's not one log in that stack ^ you couldn't buck with a 14" bar - if you have the chain properly sharp. With a proper sharp chain, not much power is needed to cut timber really fast. TBH - for what you're doing there, in the home-yard, I bin petrol saws altogether & grab a tiny little 14" electric saw - off the shelf from a big-box store for peanuts. That tiny electric saw eats petrol ones for breakfast when it comes to bucking logs up to 12 or 14" - with a razor sharp chain, it is faster than any petrol saw, weighs nothing, is easy as anything to heft all day, uses pennies in electricity, the action is light-switch on the chain - on/off. I'd happily stand beside someone running that 7310, both with a pile of logs to buck & say the €70 electric saw, with a proper sharp chain, will do more production in a given time, for close to no cost. It cuts unbelievably fast due to the absolutely constant torque from the electric motor. If you gave one a shot, you may be surprised. :-) J.
You would also find - not sure why, enginerds may know - that the 2000w electric saw holds an edge forever compared to a petrol saw - I chuck the supplied chain in the bin & fit a decent one before first use - but it seldom (almost never) needs filing even when you work a full day cutting 12' lengths down to 12" rounds. That I don't quite understand as I'd be filing a petrol saws chain 3, maybe 4 times in the same work-period. Electric saw, never glance at the file unless it hits a nail - which doesn't happen here as it's all self-planted timber (ash) that's around 18-20 years old at felling. I'm not an anti-petrol-eco-fanboy btw - I just like what works best/most economically. Why burn gas when electric does it faster/cheaper/better?
If I cut all day and want to get a full truck load cut I will use my 572 Husqvarna saws, cutting fast is necessary for big production. I also have a 592 Husqvarna for the big 20-36 inch wood and I love it for its power and speed.
I would need a dozen batteries for a full day of cutting with an electric saw. They are nice for home owners who cut a couple cords but not for big production cutting dozens of cords a day.
Lots to think about in this video. Not sure if the Echo is still asleep or Woke, but it obviously won only the fashion contest today. I've heard that the Echo's are more of a torquey lower RPM saw that kind of need a chain type to match. I agree that it would be much better with a 24" bar as the 28" seemed a little much for the power. Would really like to see that saw after 6 months with a 24" and proper chain type. GNI.
Pepe was probably hunting for grubs. Years back I had alot of skunks in my yard. After a bit of research I found the easiest way to get rid of them was to get rid of grubs....a couple of grub treatments later the skunks are very rare now
If you want to know why the echo was jumpy go watch 17:40-17:52 slow .25 and you will see a loose chain in action, all the jumping of the chain is driven by hinge action of the cutting teeth.
I have been contemplating for a year now about getting this Echo cs7310. The chainsaw seems to be a very good chainsaw. What are your thoughts? I personally love Echo products hedge trimmers, Weedwhackers, chainsaws and leaf blowers.
I like Echo's and have a 590 Timberwolf, which I am not happy with and a 501P which I love. It would cut that small stuff faster than your big saw and would not wear you out as fast.

If my local Echo dealer didn't tick me off I'd own a 7310 myself. Didn't think of going to a different Echo dealer so bought the 572xp instead from Samsel's.
Went to my local echo dealer and lady behind counter yelled at me said did you read sign on door about must have face mask. I laughed and said your nuts its 2022 and walked out.
@@rmac41981, my local Echo dealer said they wouldn't honor the warranty because it was bought online. Didn't mattet to them if was brand new with proof of purchase and registered with Echo.
Chris, love your videos! You might of addressed this in an earlier video but I was wondering what kind of camera you use for recording your UA-cam videos. I know you are a professional when it comes to photography. Thanks in advance for answering.
Muffler mod and proper tune will make it cut better. But a woods port will wake your 7310 up. Echos are all in hibernation until there modified. Then they smoke anything in its class.
@InTheWoodyard I'm actually in the middle of building another one into a solid work saw. I'll lighten up the rotating assembly and piston for quicker acceleration, delete the base gasket and machine the cylinder for less squish and to put the intake port at the proper level, widen the intake, blend and smooth the transfers and raise the exhaust port a few degrees. Finishing touch is one of my unique side exit muffler mod slash cut pipes and you got a Hella good running and reliable echo.
The echo looks like it's wearing a semi chisel chain stays sharper in dirty conditions but full chisel cuts faster. Not really a fair fight. Fun day in the woodyard you both looked like had fun👍😎

Every review I've seen said that Echo's are tight and fat from the factory. Takes several gallons of gas to loosen them up and then they need leaned out (a lot) to really rip, and they still don't pull the revs of a Husky or Stihl pro saw. Nothing compares cc to cc to an XP Husky though, real screamers.

Sorry but this echo is a nice toy no one needs. When u r used working with Husky and Stihl u always recognice massive differents in power and strengt. Im volunteer in german THW.. and making firewood in Hürtgen Forest... we tested echo saws 2 years ago... no one buy a saw... only a trimmer. But the echo top handle saw is popular by tree climbers an curving guys here. Nice video keep going.. have a chilly sunday

It is hard to have one sharpened perfect for every species and condition of wood...I don't generally see Chris's saws doing that much chattering...

The little Echo uses very little in a full day in the forest felling & bucking to length.
I think a lot of the "I need a big saw!" stuff is misplaced ego tbh. There's not one log in that stack ^ you couldn't buck with a 14" bar - if you have the chain properly sharp. With a proper sharp chain, not much power is needed to cut timber really fast. TBH - for what you're doing there, in the home-yard, I bin petrol saws altogether & grab a tiny little 14" electric saw - off the shelf from a big-box store for peanuts. That tiny electric saw eats petrol ones for breakfast when it comes to bucking logs up to 12 or 14" - with a razor sharp chain, it is faster than any petrol saw, weighs nothing, is easy as anything to heft all day, uses pennies in electricity, the action is light-switch on the chain - on/off. I'd happily stand beside someone running that 7310, both with a pile of logs to buck & say the €70 electric saw, with a proper sharp chain, will do more production in a given time, for close to no cost. It cuts unbelievably fast due to the absolutely constant torque from the electric motor. If you gave one a shot, you may be surprised. :-) J.
You would also find - not sure why, enginerds may know - that the 2000w electric saw holds an edge forever compared to a petrol saw - I chuck the supplied chain in the bin & fit a decent one before first use - but it seldom (almost never) needs filing even when you work a full day cutting 12' lengths down to 12" rounds. That I don't quite understand as I'd be filing a petrol saws chain 3, maybe 4 times in the same work-period. Electric saw, never glance at the file unless it hits a nail - which doesn't happen here as it's all self-planted timber (ash) that's around 18-20 years old at felling. I'm not an anti-petrol-eco-fanboy btw - I just like what works best/most economically. Why burn gas when electric does it faster/cheaper/better?
If I cut all day and want to get a full truck load cut I will use my 572 Husqvarna saws, cutting fast is necessary for big production. I also have a 592 Husqvarna for the big 20-36 inch wood and I love it for its power and speed.
I would need a dozen batteries for a full day of cutting with an electric saw. They are nice for home owners who cut a couple cords but not for big production cutting dozens of cords a day.

I recently picked up a 24-inch light bar, for my Cs 7310 what a big difference a light bar makes on that chainsaw.

Lots to think about in this video. Not sure if the Echo is still asleep or Woke, but it obviously won only the fashion contest today. I've heard that the Echo's are more of a torquey lower RPM saw that kind of need a chain type to match. I agree that it would be much better with a 24" bar as the 28" seemed a little much for the power. Would really like to see that saw after 6 months with a 24" and proper chain type. GNI.

If you’re running the 28 inch bar use a skip tooth, it makes a big difference with that saw with the bigger bar. That’s what I do on my echo.

Pepe was probably hunting for grubs. Years back I had alot of skunks in my yard. After a bit of research I found the easiest way to get rid of them was to get rid of grubs....a couple of grub treatments later the skunks are very rare now

If you want to know why the echo was jumpy go watch 17:40-17:52 slow .25 and you will see a loose chain in action, all the jumping of the chain is driven by hinge action of the cutting teeth.

I have been contemplating for a year now about getting this Echo cs7310.
The chainsaw seems to be a very good chainsaw. What are your thoughts? I personally love Echo products hedge trimmers, Weedwhackers, chainsaws and leaf blowers.
I have heard that the smaller cs620 is an awesome saw, and the 7310mis very nice too!
I like Echo's and have a 590 Timberwolf, which I am not happy with and a 501P which I love. It would cut that small stuff faster than your big saw and would not wear you out as fast.

If my local Echo dealer didn't tick me off I'd own a 7310 myself. Didn't think of going to a different Echo dealer so bought the 572xp instead from Samsel's.
Went to my local echo dealer and lady behind counter yelled at me said did you read sign on door about must have face mask. I laughed and said your nuts its 2022 and walked out.
@@rmac41981, my local Echo dealer said they wouldn't honor the warranty because it was bought online. Didn't mattet to them if was brand new with proof of purchase and registered with Echo.

Muffler mod and proper tune will make it cut better. But a woods port will wake your 7310 up. Echos are all in hibernation until there modified. Then they smoke anything in its class.

@InTheWoodyard I'm actually in the middle of building another one into a solid work saw. I'll lighten up the rotating assembly and piston for quicker acceleration, delete the base gasket and machine the cylinder for less squish and to put the intake port at the proper level, widen the intake, blend and smooth the transfers and raise the exhaust port a few degrees. Finishing touch is one of my unique side exit muffler mod slash cut pipes and you got a Hella good running and reliable echo.
The echo looks like it's wearing a semi chisel chain stays sharper in dirty conditions but full chisel cuts faster. Not really a fair fight.

Every review I've seen said that Echo's are tight and fat from the factory. Takes several gallons of gas to loosen them up and then they need leaned out (a lot) to really rip, and they still don't pull the revs of a Husky or Stihl pro saw.
Nothing compares cc to cc to an XP Husky though, real screamers.

What type of bit is that you are using in the Dremel?
Most of the time I use a 7/32 Oregon stone bit $6-7 for 3 of them.
The Echo needs to tuned a lil bit. It's 4stroking in the cut a lil to much.
My thoughts exactly, shouldn't four stroke in the cut. Out of the cut yes, but not in the cut.
I need to remove the limiters, and lean it out a titch.

Sorry but this echo is a nice toy no one needs. When u r used working with Husky and Stihl u always recognice massive differents in power and strengt. Im volunteer in german THW.. and making firewood in Hürtgen Forest... we tested echo saws 2 years ago... no one buy a saw... only a trimmer. But the echo top handle saw is popular by tree climbers an curving guys here. Nice video keep going.. have a chilly sunday
