    I feel so caught up just from watching this video alone. I'm an art student at a University in a small town and a previous assignment of mine had me watching youtube videos where someone had mentioned milk paint- it stuck with me, because I was like what the heck is that. But I was busy and carried on, later, went walking around a store in town, and saw some bags labeled milk paint. I took a picture to remember. Now, my current assignment, my instructor said to finish our pieces, he had some milk paint to use. I found myself on youtube searching "what is milk paint", watch a series of videos that were pretty blah. Finally coming across your video one night, I wasn't looking to refurbished something but I let it play and I'm glad I did! Immediately saved it. Next thing I know I watched 5 Amy Howard videos lol! All about 40 mins each. I finally referred back to my pictures in my phone and zoomed in and saw "Amy Howard" lol, needless to say, I went and purchased some milk paint, light and dark wax, and the antique finish, and a few brushes. I'm an art student living off my savings so I had use discretion lol otherwise I would have gotten some more.

    I am always amazed at these specialty products like mica powder. I had never seen it before and now I'm thinking of ways to apply it to my projects. Thanks for this tutorial.

    Thanks for the clear instructions. I am going to attempt this technique with cracked gesso. I am glad you said ...this is where you would use gesso. Between the two colors.

    That turned out very nice. Your techniques are amazing. You are the best I've EVER seen! You definitely know your media, you understand how it will end up. The look is very professional and expensive. the total cost of those paints probably exceeds.the value of those pieces.
    You mentioned the colors of milk paint but not the brands. nothing is listed in the description. please describe the brand's also.
    personally, I liked the sconces black. I would have left it with gold leafing only. Now the tissue box colors were more to my liking.
    Thank you for the tutorial and tips. (we cannot see.the mica powder results at all)

    Sonja, I am wanting to deepen the color and was hoping the wax would darken the finish. The wax does not seem to be going on easily. My flat test sample worked fine. My bench is just not working well. Any advice?

    one of my favourite tutorials. but bit confused with the last piece - how did the gold leaf show through? and what did the use of venetian plaster add to process?

    How does gold leaf show through?

    • @amyhowardathome
      @amyhowardathome  3 роки тому +1

      It shows through faintly from underneath the plaster. That's the gold color you see on the edges and tops of the box.

    Why gold leaf first?

    • @amyhowardathome
      @amyhowardathome  5 місяців тому

      applying gold leaf first can set the stage for a stunning and dynamic decorative finish, allowing you to unleash your creativity and bring your vision to life.
