I'll help you to bury a body but you'll get no money from me before I get a game demo with solid example of ALL game mechanics and game modes. BB was awesome though it was kinda meant to end before the end. The best part of the game was beginning and middle not the endgame.
I've never listened to a whole 1 hour game development update before, but for you guys...it was a pleasure. I like all what's coming, and I'm very glad that Casey is going to put his MAGIC to good use once again.

I’m super excited for this, and I’m glad the devs are clearly trying something new. I’m sure plenty of people would have loved to just see sy-fy Battle Brothers. But it’s clear the devs want to try something different. Thats great to see, and I can’t wait to see what they deliver.

Ich bin sehr grosser Fan von Battle Brothers, mit dem ich Anfangs garnichts anfangen konnte, aber mittlerweile fast 1500 Stunden verbracht habe. I'm looking forward to the game overall, but my main gripe is mainly the lack of *real* customization. That part is pretty hollow as I like being able to craft my soldiers from the ground up, or at the very least name them, but overall, I am excited to see what the game actually has. Since Aliens tried to do something similar but their game didn't really do well, so I'm hoping this is better.
It would be great if the individual soldiers underneath squad leaders had random generated names/voice sets. I'm a big fan of the squad leaders being pre-written and having real depth, but having a splash of Battle Brothers' procedurally generated DNA would be phenomenal!
I just recently play battle brothers. And I love the RPG and decision making in it. So Menace really catch my interest. I hope I will spend lots of time in it.

Last years Aliens Dark Decent opened me up for this Genre and I had a blast. Since then its a very nice Gaming Journey and I played Xcom 2, Miasma Chronicles, Darkest dungeon and of course Battle Brothers. So Menace will be a big melting pot out of all these games. Very excited for this project! But why the big pivot in artstyle/setting/gameplay? And do something so similar to Xcom? Seems like a very risky move, you not only do a lot of concepts for the first time, but also have a strong competitior already on the market. Tactical layer sounds quite diff from Xcom, especially turn-order with enemy moving a unit then player moving a unit. Also vehicles and squads instead of individual soldiers like in Xcom. But I do agree with OP that strategy layer with a mothership flying around sounds very similar to Xcom 2. @@MrMaltavius
Okay, so... Saying "this isn't similar to XCOM at all" is totally false. The devs openly compare and reference certain aspects that are akin to XCOM. Aside from the devs own references, one can easily make comparable points from Menace to XCOM as well; it's very obvious, lol. They also reference to Jagged Alliance & Warhammer tabletop. All this said, and none of it is to be construed as "dogging" or talking down of this new game. XCOM is good! There's nothing wrong with having similarities. If something works, and is good, that's what matters. Taking such things and putting ones own special spin / changes / improvements upon them is fine. Personally, am very keen to see & play what they're crafting up here with MENACE. :) @@MrMaltavius
If there is some inspiration/similarities from the original X-Com or Ufo games then I will really keep my eyes open and support a project 😁 ,also hopes there are some help faction forces attack/defend areas or facilities missions, not enough of those in xcom like games 😄 and please make viechles/mechs feel like they are just that and not a cardboardbox shaped like a tank or something, the tanks from the original xcom was a bit disappointing with their papper armor 🤣
The predetermined squad leaders worries me. One of the reasons I could never get into Jagged alliance is because they were all always over the top and unlikeable
Well... that was the point of jagged alliance. I don't know if you realised that but they legit tried to make their playable characters as obnoxious as possible. There is literally a 0.01% chance that this game will even get close to that level. Predetermined squad leaders means a capability to make storylines with them, randomly generated characters can't really have predetermined storylines set to them.
@starcraft2own I know that was the point however it didn't make it a beloved feature for me. They were going for like an 80s action hero thing. I wouldn't say it's such a small chance considering he used it as an example
Be curious to see how it is implemented - but pretty disappointed to hear we moved away from the chad hexagons to the beta squares. Pretty big L from a tactics layer in my opinion.

More tactical options with 6 possible adjacencies than 4. If they do adjacencies by diagonals that is going to be . . . odd? Would have to see it in practice. And the main benefit that Hexagons offer is proper use of diagonals. Hexagons allow for a proper use of diagonals that are just gross on a square field. If this game plans to have limits on range, diagonals matter a lot. I am open to seeing how they implement it, but if you can not be a plebian when seeing other opinions, that would be appreciated. @@endlessstrata6988 - Don't believe this follows. Distances are measured better through Hexes because diagonals on squares are usually more complicated by comparison. Obviously we'll disagree here, but the hexes in Battle Brothers offered significantly more flexibility to addressing crowded spaces than a game that narrows you to a 2 square hallway. You can at least build or manage around proper concaves.

Battle Brothers is probably the game ive played the most ever and i dont think ill ever be done with it. I root for these guys but they re facing a challenging task. Ill support em for sure, just in case they decide to make some more BB content.

I'm lookin forward to the idea of mechanized infantry combat with the APC. Mechs are cool, but I like them IFVs and APCs.

This isn't similar to XCOM at all. Not everything that is SCiFi and turn based is like XCOM.
