Thanks! There's a few things i'd do differently in the casting, though not sure I can get the accuracy of spacing improved. But perhaps too accurate looks manufactured, if you see the 3D printed and woodturned puzzle I tried. Very clinical in it's final look. All the best. Ray

I didn't realize it was transparent resin! I can understand why you're unhappy with it, but I personally love that it looks like the pieces are in relief with shadows. Also the one piece of ash is absolutely stunning and fits great in the puzzle theme
Hi Patrick. It was more about the air trapped inside the resin because of the design of the resin mold that was a little frustrating. I will attempt another version one day soon I hope. I only started turning more consistently for this channel about 6 months ago. I had only turned 2 bowls about 3 years ago. It's surpising how quick you will pick up on the techniques and I'm a big fan of the Einstein quote - A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new. All the best. Ray
I just had a chance to watch your video of the 3D puzzle. I think it is amazing and I like the lonely white looking tile. It reminds me of having a lost piece to a jigsaw puzzle. The end result is always awesome, but I still think you could do _even better_ if you gave some of them another shot, using what you learned the first time to improve the final outcome.

You have got me thinking about making a simular project but casting resin into puzzle piece shapes and making an autism awareness themed vessle of some type. (my wife is a special education teacher and would absolutly love it)
Hi Brian. Would definitely encourage enthusiastic individuals to give it a go, but would advocate trying something really simple if you've never used resin or resin & wood before. Choosing the right resin is the key (deep pour, non-toxic), even better if you can get a pressure pot, but not essential. When you get it finished, please send me a photo of your project! @@RayWhitbyCreations Anything I have seen of that done in wood ended being carved after it was smoothed out on a lathe. I have rarely seen that though, so don't take my word for it lol. Oh my! That is quite elaborate too. I haven't done intricate protractor & compass work for a few decades now.

This is probably where a CNC would have come in really handy.
Agreed Brad. A 5 axis CNC would be ideal here. Although I preferred the challenge of the 3D printed version and have a working jigsaw puzzle at the end of it. All the best. Ray

A bigger size and transparent epoxy would make this a wonderful lampshade, though tinges of colour would also work well. Congratulations on completing a puzzling project! :)
