I started with a doctor who wanted to get to know me and my medical history, so it took a little while that first visit. He'd been doing that for a while with his patients. My next visit he gave me the name of another doctor and said he had to leave because he got in trouble for spending too much time with his patients. I was saddened! How could he treat me well if he didn't take the time needed to get to know me and my history? I love that Dr. Paul was able to be there for so long to treat his patients the best way he knew how! May God bless him in his future endeavors!
Dr. Paul was my pediatrician from from when I was an infant to when I was 18 (born in late 1990’s). He’s a great doctor. I was his patient before he left his old practice. I admire him for leaving his old practice in 2008 and stood up for what he believed in. Congratulations on a great career career Dr. Thomas!
Maybe you can make a pilgrimage to Vermont to share your views on vaccines to a very divided audience. I vaccinated my children, because that's what everyone did when I was a young mom. Now I would definitely do things differently, becoming informed first as to the pros and cons of them. Anyway, please consider this in your schedule and I will speak to my daughter who is a young mom now. My daughter had an AWESOME doctor! I trusted him completely. She got the best care from him. At no time was she ever frightened of him. I didnt have a doctor like that. I was terrified of him, his strange accent, how rough he was, how painful he gave shots. And worst of all my mom held me down by force and defended him instead of asking why I was scared. I thought all doctors were like him but was happily surprised when I found me a doctor when I was 18. Ive never been frightened since and I made it a priority once I had my child that they wouldnt either! Good luck Dr. Paul. 💖

I know there was an Oregon student (where he's at now) who was prescribed depression meds at school without ANY info of the risks and without parental knowledge or consent as well. How is a 13 year old supposed to understand the risks and side effects of any medication or procedure? It's ridiculous what these immature snowflake people are so butthurt over. What adult needs to give drugs to kids without their parents knowing?
He looks like a pretty decent doctor. However, the fact that he put many patients at danger because he withheld information is a big issue. As a medical provider, he swore an oath to provide/offer the best available treatment to his patients regardless of his beliefs. If you truly want patients to be independent, you offer them all the choices and provide them with the best research-based information possible.
I watched dr Paul when I first started to practice and didn’t have anyone to turn to for advice. I was fortunate enough to attend one of his lectures in Maryland and also bought your book. Through his words I could feel the passion he had in helping people. As the medical world becomes overrun by insurance companies and bid entities with too much bureaucracy. It will be harder and harder to find Drs like Dr Paul. Thank you Dr Paul for paving the way for the truth.
When I first found Dr. Paul on UA-cam I actually considered moving to Oregon, just so he could be my sons pediatrician. Such a loss to that community thanks to corrupt med board. This was his last day as a licenced practitioner in Oregon... I hope and pray that he might get a licence to practice in another state... If he is unable to practice anywhere else in the United States there are other avenues... I'm Indian and I can proudly say India is multifold times more democratic... Doctor should seriously consider coming to India... He would be welcomed like a King...

13 years ago, October 2009, I'll never forget you coming into my dimly lit hospital room at St. Vincent in the wee hours of the morning after my daughter was born. You were dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and so cheerful, but quiet as you gave Audrey her first check up, the first of many over 13 years. We were able to see you one last time in November too. You took the time to visit and reassure us that this was not the end, just a new chapter for you. Over these 13 years we have been so grateful to have you as her doctor. After graduate school for speech pathology, I TRULY learned what INFORMED CONSENT was. That’s when I realized that patients VERY RARELY GET IT. We need to inform ourselves and READ all the medical information that we can get our hands on

Amazing doc! The world needs more like you! Ear infections disappear with boric acid drops (same goes for eye infections)....almost immediately... avoids the doctor visit and 2 weeks of unnecessary antibiotics. It's been a life changer for us.

Im just starting my practice as a children's doctor and I really look up to you, the way you talk to the kids. At the same time, my heart really goes out to you, because I kind of imagine what it is like to leave your practice. Surreal, heartbreaking. We complain about this job, about parents and sometimes even kids, the noise, the know-better parents but we cannot live without our patients. Im really happy to get back to work after a long holiday. I get really excited when summer's going to an end and I begin to see kids with wheezes and crackles. You can't see too many patients because it's going to drain all of your energy and make you resentful, but at the same time not seeing patients at all is sad. It's hard to say, that's it. Many doctors here in my country work until they die and it's not for financial reasons only. Sometimes when I worry if my decisions are fine, I watch some of your videos and I see my practice reflected in yours, and I'm reassured. Here in our country we send kids to a hospital much sooner, they are hospitalized for longer and there is a great pressure to run many tests even with mild conditions. It's considered to be safer for the doctor to refer a child to an ER than to risk them getting worse at home, for legal reasons. At the same time, we practice the same EBM all around the world, or at least strive to do so.
We have been so blessed for the last 12 years to bring our kids to you at Integrative Pediatrics. Thought we will miss you, we look forward to seeing what your future holds.

So sorry to hear this Dr. Paul. I wish there were more doctors like you who promote informed consent. Just 3 weeks ago we welcomed our second born, and we did things a bit differently at his birth compared to our daughter’s. I’ll spare the details but there was a step we chose to waive, and one of the nurses tried intimidating us into changing our minds, saying “no pediatrician will see you.” The best part was when the pediatrician came into our room (same one our daughter sees) and we told her what the nurse said, she just kind of paused before saying, “Um… definitely not true.” Thank you for being such an advocate for parents and kids. ❤
I was fearmongered into the vitamin K shot with both of my children (2002 and 2004). Subsequently, and not surprisingly with the knowledge I have today, they both became jaundiced. First pediatrician for my first daughter fearmongered me into two vaccines when she was six days old. My friend begged me to wait until she sent me a book to get anymore, which I was already reluctant to do. My pediatrician said if I didn’t vaccinate my newborn baby further she refused to see us. Needless to say, read the book, never went to that pediatrician again & my second daughter is 100% v-free.💙
She’s probably seen a child suffer from a vaccine-preventable disease or a condition that could have been prevented by a dose of vitamin k for example. It’s truly disheartening to see an infant expire from a brain bleed because mom opted out of the vit k shot (happens in premie babies sometimes). It’s not even a vaccine which makes it more frustrating. It was probably an unprofessional comment made with good intentions. At a certain point, doctors have to let go of feeling responsible for the parents’ decisions when they’ve tried to share their understanding. Which is easier said than done, especially regarding complex medical science and physiology. Even harder to grasp is statistics which epidemiology requires an understanding of in order to participate in the risk vs benefits analysis. Parents probably have too much to understand all at once. Or not enough time to grasp these concepts. To learn the biology with the team. It’s a lot. And there’s misinformation out there which fosters strange types of trust. It’s hard mentally to move past that stuff. And hard to feel like someone actually cares for the patient’ best interest when it feels more like a persuasion to action.

I know there was an Oregon student (where he's at now) who was prescribed depression meds at school without ANY info of the risks and without parental knowledge or consent as well.
How is a 13 year old supposed to understand the risks and side effects of any medication or procedure? It's ridiculous what these immature snowflake people are so butthurt over.
What adult needs to give drugs to kids without their parents knowing?
He looks like a pretty decent doctor. However, the fact that he put many patients at danger because he withheld information is a big issue. As a medical provider, he swore an oath to provide/offer the best available treatment to his patients regardless of his beliefs. If you truly want patients to be independent, you offer them all the choices and provide them with the best research-based information possible.
Our government is a disgrace. So are their owners (donors!).
I watched dr Paul when I first started to practice and didn’t have anyone to turn to for advice. I was fortunate enough to attend one of his lectures in Maryland and also bought your book. Through his words I could feel the passion he had in helping people.
As the medical world becomes overrun by insurance companies and bid entities with too much bureaucracy. It will be harder and harder to find Drs like Dr Paul.

When I first found Dr. Paul on UA-cam I actually considered moving to Oregon, just so he could be my sons pediatrician. Such a loss to that community thanks to corrupt med board. I do know this is a blessing in disguise though and Im sure the whole world will benefit from what Dr Paul will do next. Love you Dr Paul!!

This was his last day as a licenced practitioner in Oregon... I hope and pray that he might get a licence to practice in another state... If he is unable to practice anywhere else in the United States there are other avenues... I'm Indian and I can proudly say India is multifold times more democratic... 13 years ago, October 2009, I'll never forget you coming into my dimly lit hospital room at St. Vincent in the wee hours of the morning after my daughter was born. You were dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and so cheerful, but quiet as you gave Audrey her first check up, the first of many over 13 years. We were able to see you one last time in November too. You took the time to visit and reassure us that this was not the end, just a new chapter for you. Over these 13 years we have been so grateful to have you as her doctor. Ear infections disappear with boric acid drops (same goes for eye infections)....almost immediately... avoids the doctor visit and 2 weeks of unnecessary antibiotics. It's been a life changer for us.

Im just starting my practice as a children's doctor and I really look up to you, the way you talk to the kids. At the same time, my heart really goes out to you, because I kind of imagine what it is like to leave your practice. Surreal, heartbreaking. We complain about this job, about parents and sometimes even kids, the noise, the know-better parents but we cannot live without our patients. Im really happy to get back to work after a long holiday. I get really excited when summer's going to an end and I begin to see kids with wheezes and crackles. You can't see too many patients because it's going to drain all of your energy and make you resentful, but at the same time not seeing patients at all is sad. It's hard to say, that's it. Many doctors here in my country work until they die and it's not for financial reasons only. Sometimes when I worry if my decisions are fine, I watch some of your videos and I see my practice reflected in yours, and I'm reassured. Here in our country we send kids to a hospital much sooner, they are hospitalized for longer and there is a great pressure to run many tests even with mild conditions. It's considered to be safer for the doctor to refer a child to an ER than to risk them getting worse at home, for legal reasons. At the same time, we practice the same EBM all around the world, or at least strive to do so.
We have been so blessed for the last 12 years to bring our kids to you at Integrative Pediatrics. Thought we will miss you, we look forward to seeing what your future holds.

So sorry to hear this Dr. Paul. I wish there were more doctors like you who promote informed consent. Just 3 weeks ago we welcomed our second born, and we did things a bit differently at his birth compared to our daughter’s. I’ll spare the details but there was a step we chose to waive, and one of the nurses tried intimidating us into changing our minds, saying “no pediatrician will see you.” The best part was when the pediatrician came into our room (same one our daughter sees) and we told her what the nurse said, she just kind of paused before saying, “Um… definitely not true.” Thank you for being such an advocate for parents and kids. ❤
I was fearmongered into the vitamin K shot with both of my children (2002 and 2004). Subsequently, and not surprisingly with the knowledge I have today, they both became jaundiced. First pediatrician for my first daughter fearmongered me into two vaccines when she was six days old. My friend begged me to wait until she sent me a book to get anymore, which I was already reluctant to do. My pediatrician said if I didn’t vaccinate my newborn baby further she refused to see us. Needless to say, read the book, never went to that pediatrician again & my second daughter is 100% v-free.💙

She’s probably seen a child suffer from a vaccine-preventable disease or a condition that could have been prevented by a dose of vitamin k for example. It’s truly disheartening to see an infant expire from a brain bleed because mom opted out of the vit k shot (happens in premie babies sometimes). It’s not even a vaccine which makes it more frustrating. It was probably an unprofessional comment made with good intentions. At a certain point, doctors have to let go of feeling responsible for the parents’ decisions when they’ve tried to share their understanding. Which is easier said than done, especially regarding complex medical science and physiology. Even harder to grasp is statistics which epidemiology requires an understanding of in order to participate in the risk vs benefits analysis. Parents probably have too much to understand all at once. Or not enough time to grasp these concepts. To learn the biology with the team. It’s a lot. And there’s misinformation out there which fosters strange types of trust. It’s hard mentally to move past that stuff. And hard to feel like someone actually cares for the patient’ best interest when it feels more like a persuasion to action.
