  • Phoenix, Arizona has a lot of mountains around it and various parks which provide extensive hiking trail activity. In particular, there are a number of Regional Parks that I find valuable. I hiked the Black Rock Trail in the White Tank Mountain Regional Park, northwest of Phoenix in Waddell.
The Black Rock Trail has two loops - short and long. But the long loop is only 1.3 miles long, so you might as well hike both loops. I did.
The trail is relatively flat. The elevation change is 72 feet, but you don’t notice it.
The trail has many hills around it, and the landscape is typical desert. It is a very pleasant, short hike.
And view my video of my hike on the Waterfall Trail in the same White Tank Mountain Regional Park.

The Waterfall Trail and the Black Rock Trail are close to each other in the park and have a connecting path between them. You could start on one trail and finish on the other one.
