Loved the pilot when it first came out, but the rose-colored glasses fell off a long time ago. The pilot was a better series introduction than the first episode though…
Yeah, literally every other episode in the fseason managed to be better than Episode 1.
@@Phobie_2000bro when I watched the first episode I hated it so bad but with the newer episodes I like it but it had a rough start I feel
I really liked episode but it def the weakes
Rewatching the pilot now I honestly feel like the animation is better than it is in the full release. Like it feels more fluid and creative in a way. So I do miss that.
It's the kind of animation you have to watch work really hard at. It forces you to have an ironed out script before you get cooking.
Man i really do miss alot of the piolts simplistiy and charm. Like, i loved hiw Alastor was just some powerful dude who has SO much power and resoruces that he wishes to activly work on a project just because he knows it will fail, for his own fun! And Husk was just someone who worked for booze. The theory that Alastors being controled by Lilith, while interesting..takes away from how much fun and selfish Alastor seemed!
right?!
You are right ,buttttt nobody in their right mind( even someone like alastor) wouldn't help a project just to watch it fails there so many more fun habits
@@poryapori8588 I get what you’re saying but, why not? He’s emortal, he’s “lacked inspiration for decades” and I always saw him as the Hazbin Hotel producer, like he’s the one funding a show just for himself cause he thinks its funny. It’s just funnier and shows how powerful he is, where literal heaven issues are just a side hustle to him! 🤣
@@harmonylynx252 Ye, that's mostly the reason why the pilot was perfect for me, the rest of season is fine, but i like to see it as a completely different universe
You said it perfectly. The "soul" of this show was that artful magic you could feel before putting words to. Im kinda sad its absent in the full release.
The pilot was so muck more squishy and muted out color wise which i enjoy. I cannot understand why they changed from the squishy animation style
After four years of hype and an entire fandom cropping up, I think we were inevitably going to be disappointed.
Well said! I'm quite underwhelmed by a bunch of stuff in the actual show airing now, especially in terms of story and rewatching the pilot I'm also amazed to be reminded of how incredibly well it was paced and presented, oozing with potential. I agree with a lot of your points here and am also low key sad that I don't feel most of them carried on to the actual show😢
Is it just me or your voice is way more “hyperactive” you sound excited and happy.
Crazy what a difference talking about something you really like can make.
@@vanitymoth even in your MD episode 3 video, you aren’t this happy.
@@The_gaslight_district_Fanboy true, I bet I was sleep deprived while recording the audio. There were a few times around that era of the channel where I actually fell asleep in my chair while recording. Hopefully it doesn't get to that point again.
Ever since I watched the Pilot, I think it's pretty amazing and I always love Charlie Morningstar as the main character. She's like the demon princess version of Star Butterfly from Star vs the Forces of Evil. The other characters are great too especially Alastor who is obviously a fan favorite and after 4 years, we finally got the full series of Hazbin Hotel in Amazon Prime!🤩💕
While I love the Hazbin Hotel pilot, I don't think it comes close to being the best indie pilot.
Lackadaisy pilot beats it for its sheer magnificent 2D animation and writing, Becky Prim beat it in terms of black comedy and that was just an animatic, Murder Drones pilot beats it in terms of character introductions and sheer atmosphere, Digital Circus pilot beats in terms of pure horror.
It may be influential, but the best pilot it is not.
Heavily agree, The Hazbin Hotel pilot has some serious competition.
So true.
(I deleted a comment I made where I said that Lackadaisy wasn't really good but then I started to understand your point...)
@@octavianjoseph8633 The Murder Drones Pilot was so fun. 😁
Somewhat agreed
There are many things in the pilot that it did better than the final series of Hazbin Hotel and I really wish that the series would have kept the same pace, transitions, style and spirit as the pilot. Compared to the pilot and Helluva Boss, the final series is much tamer and hollow, although still good.
God this made me grieve for Charlie’s character
6:42 I think this might be the most emotion I’ve ever heard in your voice.
Ok I'm gonna say it. I liked the design in the pilot much more! The thinner lines, Charlie's eyes the softer edges
Thinner lines are always better.
Charlie's eyes are the thing that bug me the most. Why. Did. They. Make. Then. RED?!?! It just makes my eyes bleed. 😭
@@avivastudios2311 same pain sis 💔
I thought there was a different vibe to the animation style, now I know why
After the full series was released I was disappointed with what we got, everything that got me hooked on Hazbin Hotel was lost after watching the first 4 episodes and it was from there that I had the thought that the pilot was much better and enjoyable. I felt like I'm the only weird one who thought the pilot was much better so I really wanted someone to talk about that and show how good is.
I have already seen several videos saying how well they managed to convey in just one pilot what could not be done in the final result and the bad points that deepened very strongly until damaging the rhythm of the story.
I also prefer the Hazbin Hotel pilot, I've been watching that in replay unlike the show I watched once and not watching it again. I probably am nitpicking for Husk's voice but I prefer the pilot even Alastor's and Katie Killjoy.
The hardest thing to watch about the pilot nowadays is the animation, it keeps changing and compared to the official series its nothing. (its still good :))
When I first saw the pilot I didn't think it was all that great but I liked the voice acting and the animation. And I still think Husk's OLD voice is better than his new one. Keith David's voice is beautiful but it doesn't match the character. Angel's voice was better too.
Also the pilot was dominated by red to an absurd degree and they did NOT fix that problem in the show.
I legitimately hate the change in Killjoy's voice from pilot to show. She "doesn't touch the gays". She's a bigot towards the LGBT, which would be common in the afterlife because it has been common throughout most of time. She's a bad person. It does not make sense for a bigot who hates homosexuals to be trans and the masculine voice she now has does not fit at all.
Maybe it's supposed to be ironic cause Brandon Rogers is a gay man. Viv has really become a real creator. She's got a pool of recurring actors.
@@RAINBOWNIGTHMAREPRODUCTIONS and bc Brandon has played many female character but that still doesn't excuse the change
He’s actually positive for once?… pinch me I must be dreaming
The Pilot had so much love and dedication put into it, it had more of a "grande" feeling in terms of the story because you didn't know what would happen to charlies hotel, how dangerous is Alastor and what is he hiding? - These Aspects that made the Pilot so intriguing got saddly (for some reason) wiped away in the big change of voice actors, Story, characters. I could go on and on, I don't dislike the "actual" show or season 1, I'm just saying the Pilot has a special place in my heart since it's just something so unique.
Lackadaisy, Murder Drones, Cliffside, Long gone gulch, had better pilot or first episodes. I'd argue Digital circus had a better first episode also.
I prefer The Amazing Digital Circus.
I know that you’re dreading reviewing the full series like the description says, but I’ll tell you this, the only issue the official series has is the fact that since there’s only 8 episodes in the first season, the show tends to rush through some things. So the only issue the show has that negatively affects it is the fast pacing of specific episodes (3 and 6 in particular). And Episode 1 is… kinda mid BUT DON’T WORRY, the other episodes of the show are significantly better than Episode 1 in every way.
IMO, Lackadaisy had the best animation and Song in the Sky had the best writing.
If we just focused on writing, then Welcome to Hell (character development) and Becky Prim (comedy) would beat Hazbin by a mile.
the animation is pretty much the only thing lackadaisy has going for it
@@xraku3744 I concur. But the comics seemed interesting and I'm curious about Rocky and Mordecai and the setting too. Can't wait for episode one.
20:03 My WiFi wasn't working well and the video was pixelated. What does the timestamp add? As soon as Charlie slammed her fist on the table, the video went back to higher quality😂
I still love the pilot for its detailed animation and such but yeah you make a great point
Hazbin Hotel was always a show I admired in my mind. It had a very good introduction with its storyline and loveable colorful characters. There wasn't really a character in the pilot that will later down the road feel misplace. With such a basic plot... I was glad that the show got its character introductions and pacing right at first. It didn't felt short or too long. Before the first season even released on Amazon, I felt Hazbin Hotel was just a better show than Helluva Boss in my opinion... even though it has already gotten 2 seasons. In overall thoughts... The pilot is high tier even after all of this time but I can't say how will the actually show can bring that charm I fell in love with, once it is finished.
while i think the show is mostly ok and still a fun watch, the show is rather lacking compared to what the pilot presented.
Well it plans on having 3 seasons so it won't be lacking for long.
You know something about this pliot this shows that you can be creative on your storytelling and can do anything on your animation no matter how bad it is or am i misunderstanding it
Is that a version of stayed gone playing in the background? 22:22
Heavily disagree, but I will still watch it.
K i still got to wait until watching it because i am lazy
Interesting video, thank you! :) (ending killed me 😂)
yea that got me off guard
What ending?😅
Please can you review monkey wrench.
Oh cool a positive video, bet money he is not going to hate it now that the actual show is out :)
I mean if views mean anything it'll be the second best since TADC has more.
niffty is baby
You should review bad luck jack it came from zoophobia it’s a web comic viv created . I recommend you review it .😉
HEY I LOVE THAT SHOW IT'S SOO AMAZING I'M GOING TO WRITING A MANGA STORIES ABOUT IT.
Lackadaisy.

@@notseen9 i just wanted to know what he meant of lackadaisy ok
@@hybridvenom9 that Lackadaisy's pilot is superior in literally every way to Hazbin Hotel's
@@skrzatzfilipin262I’d say they’re both really good.
It brings me pain to hear this overrated Suction Cup Man clone is the best animated pilot.
Do you wanna see ACTUAL good animated pilots? Check out Old Earth, Godspeed and Metal Family. They were way more of animated pilots than this.
