THIS version - the low end bass in the intro. Even noticeable compared to other UA-cam vids. I'd only heard this on the movie soundtrack I got originally from BMG way way wayyy back in the day. Subsequent releases / masters of this song completely neuter that low end rumble. Would absolutely love to get that original disc back again... loaned to a friend and never seen nor heard from again.

Both songs utilize Han Zimmer's "Days of Thunder" theme as the melody. Billy Idol wrote the lyrics to "The Last Note of Freedom" but was unable to be part of the project and so Tom Cruise asked David Coverdale to sing the song which plays during the credits of the film. Terry Reid recorded a version of "Gimme Some Lovin" for the film but it was dropped in favor of an edited/looped version of the original Spencer Davis Group version. Not sure what the story on "The Driver" album (1991) is, if it was a side project with Zimmer and Reid during the film or shortly after. But the tracks "The Driver (part 1) and (2) " are NOT on the "Days of Thunder" original soundtrack released in 1990
The hair metal act "Whitesnake" was founded by David Coverdale. He, a white hetero, took it as a synonym for penis. Much more straight forward with its name was the black metal act "Penis".
Terry's version was initially planned for the soundtrack of "Days Of Thunder", but they later deceided to use different lyrics and David Coverdale as singer. So the song appeared on Terry's own album and in another movie.
