      You're welcome the only thing negative I have heard so far from a few people is that there wasn't adjustable handles for you to be able to adjust in case you are taller. I can tell you that this lawn mower cuts magnificently. We do own AZ mower but we prefer to cut our front lawn with this one and it's also good for cutting around small spaces like our pool and garden areas

    Definitely check the oil when you first get it. Put mine together yesterday and it was a little over half full. reading the reviews from Home Depot, other people have experienced the same thing. I'm not sure why they do it but if I had added the whole bottle, I would have had to drain the whole thing and start over.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      Yes, Absolutely. They probably do that for those who skip instructions and just start the mower without any oil at all. I guess the Manufacturer doesn't want to pay for the cost of a replacement mower so it's less financial risk for them to just throw some in there.

    Just bought mine and assembled it today. Mowed my lawn. I am graduating up from a push mower.. This will take some getting use to. The handle seems very short. For a 6'2" person, it is not very compatible for a tall person unless there is a way to raise or extend the handle. I do love the power.. just FYI, pretty sure the Honda GBV160 engine takes 17 oz. of motor oil when filling a dry motor. The self propel was set way too fast out of the box. It was nearly jumping off the ground when I closed the bar. I am hoping, with some adjustments, I can start to like this mower.

    Greetings Mover and Shaker. You have created a great video! I have a simple question from watching the video: How did you feel the degree of difficulty (or easiness) the mower was able to accomplish the 180 degree turns? I also noticed that you were pushing the mower during at least one of the passes, although you engaged the self-propelled feature when you were in the process of one of your turns, so how did you find the mower to push?
    I once owned a Toro that I bought in 1991, which was the last year Toro sold mowers with the optional Suzuki engine. It was a very sweet engine indeed compared to other mowers I had operated in the past. That engine started for me on one easy pull for the 16 years that I had owned the mower and it emitted a phenomenal purr when idling at the lowest possible RPM, which impressed my friends when they tested the mower! Also that engine allowed to easiest oil changes with the oil drain plug at the bottom of the engine (but on top the mower deck), so the mower didn’t need to be flipped to change the oil (only insert a Toro supplied clear-plastic hose to the side of the engine). Toro advised changing the oil every 30 hours, but I changed it every 10 hours, due to the simplicity of the chore.
    This Toro also had a personal pace system, similar to your system by operating the lower bale, except mine was a RWD as opposed to your mower with FWD. Because my Toro didn’t have any hose attachment, I would find myself cleaning the mower by squirting the water from the hose under the mower deck, while running the engine at full RPM. Eventually the transmission failed after 16 years, when the mower mechanic told me that the all the gears were rusted (resulting from multiple washings of the deck). I of course complained to Toro that there nothing in their 1991 owners manual warning against spraying the transmission with water, but they refused to honor a warranty claim.
    I found a Toro dealer who had a used transmission from his spare parts bin, so I only had to pay $100 to swap transmissions! I gave the mower to my mother, where I continued to operate the Toro. The mower lasted until 2016 (27 years after I had originally bought the mower), where the mower was then acquired by the new owner of my mother’s house.
    When I had encountered the transmission problems with my Toro back in 2007, I had purchased a new Honda. When I first inserted oil in my brand new Honda engine, I also made the mistake by screwing in the oil dipstick all the way (then unscrewing the dipstick) to check the oil levels. I later found out about a week or two later that the oil level was woefully short of oil! I was astonished that Honda didn’t give the warning that the consumer only needs to insert the dipstick in the oil insert tube after cleaning the oil off the dipstick! I had changed the oil numerous times on my cars and on mowers (including other folks mowers) for decades, so I was befuddled by the Honda system.
    Fortunately, I had changed the oil in the Honda by using 100% synthetic 10 W 30 by Amsoil once a year (the 14 year old Honda mower is still running strong today and starts on the pull). Amsoil is a phenomenal oil product that I use in my vehicles as well. They produce an oil specifically designed for small engines. In addition, they make fantastic ATF, Gear Lubes, Antifreeze, oil filters, etc. Amsoil produced the world’s first 100% synthetic oil that was approved by the API (American Petroleum Institute) back in 1972, which was two years before Mobil 1 was brought to market. They have a marvelous warranty on their products as well. Amsoil has an opportunity to become a Preferred Customer for $10 for 6 months, in which you will receive a 25% discount and free shipping for orders exceeding $100. You can go to www.Amsoil.com to gain the membership and when you apply, if you can kindly insert the referral code of 1420935 (that happens to be my Amsoil Dealer code), I will get credit from Amsoil. I am delighted you enjoyed reading my post! I am thinking that your particular model of Toro (20379) would be perfect for my wife and I for our next mower, since the Honda mower has been a quite the battle ax to maneuver (it is too heavy and awkward to handle, where the wheels don’t cooperate in maneuvering in tight spots), which was why I questioned you how easy your Toro was for you to push and make turns. Your Toro appears light on its feet, reminiscent of my old Toro. Thanks!

The mower is powerfully self propelled giving me a workout and it seems lighter and easier to handle than my previous model from 2006. The cut is phenomenal and really sets off the lawn. We even sold our one from 2006 this year for about $60 bucks. We just wanted a brand new one but it would have lasted many more years if we had decided to keep it.

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому +1

      Now that is something I would not know how in compares in terms of long term reliability, because we haven't even owned it a year and it's probably only been used two dozen times. I do know what you mean by the Kohler engine. Our previous mower had that engine and when we sold the lawnmower there was absolutely nothing wrong with that engine and we owned the mower from 06 to 2020! I know everyone speaks highly of HONDA engines though no matter what type of engine it is.

    What does it mean by 'variable speed'? The Toro I had before was one with a 'personal pace' transmission. All and all I pretty much liked the personal pace. As far as I can tell this one is not a personal pace. And I don't believe you can really control the self propelled speed. If so, does it move along pretty well, namely at a pretty good pace?

    • @MoverandShaker
      @MoverandShaker  3 роки тому

      Variable Speed Self Propel allows you to maneuver around obstacles and landscaping easily. when you engage the trigger or handle fully it is pretty quick...almost too quick!

    • @legostar55
      @legostar55 3 роки тому +1

      Every self propelled mower that doesn't use a switch for the drive is variable speed. Multiple speeds are achieved by slipping the belt which it is designed to do as they are not pure rubber. The Personal Pace puts more tension on the belt the faster you walk so it slips the belt. The Variable speed mower gets its multiple speeds by how much you squeeze the second bail arm. The more you squeeze it, the faster it goes which puts more tension on the belt. Only difference is how the drive is actuated and which wheels are being driven.
