Forgot to mention checking the radiator cap. Even if its not mounted on the radiator but a coolant tank. Since caps are pressure releaf valves and need to maintain a certain amount of pressure to the system to lower boiling point since every pound of pressure raises boiling point like 3 or 4 lbs. If the cap doesn't hold pressure due to a bad seal then the coolant can boil out slowly. I don't work on big trucks but in the automotive business & I would say 70% of the caps I test fail

@@TATEXPRESSINC it's not mixing with oil the coolant level goes down about couple of inches below the minimum mark and then stays there doesn't lower anymore.
I have the isx 15. I’m losing coolant. But still trying to determine where. It’s going from cold max to cold min in about 16k miles. Talking with kenworth, I have no signs of a head gasket. No pressure in the coolant system. No cross between engine oil and coolant. Both look clean. No coolant coming out of the vent cap. No bubbles percolating in the reservoir. With a pressure tester it goes from 15psi to 0 in less than 10 minutes. Kenworth told me to check my fuel and transmission. (13 speed manual with heat exchanger) can’t see coolant in the fuel or water separates. I changed the transmission oil and sending it out for a oil analysis to see if coolant is mixing in it. I’ve taken the hose off the exit side of the egr cooler and looked good and felt dry. At this point I’m hoping it’s the heat exchanger on the transmission. It’s the cheapest fix. Other than that the truck runs like a champ and no loss of power

Is it normal for coolant to go into the left side of the reservoir? Mechanics just replaced the head on my compressor and told me it was normal to see that
I would drop the pan first, bar the motor and look for coolant in the liners, or cylinders. Odds are a liner has fretted, and taken out the head, save the customer some money with this test first. And folks these heads are one time use, do not install a reman head either, only a new OEM head should be used. And this horse has been beaten to death, only a new OEM head. If the liner is fretted, the motor will need to be rebuilt, cylinder/liner ledges cut and liners shimmed to .0014 of an inch. And do not simply replace the one affected liner, you are just throwing money away... And why do these liners fret so often in these ISX motors? It is due to the driver pounding the crap out of them lugging the motor while under a load. An ISX motor is designed to run at high RPM's, above 1500. They are safe to run up to 1900 without issues. When you lug the motor, due to the design of the block, the excess pressure from the torque of the motor is transferred to the piston liner, and eventually they bust loose. Do not lug these motors.

Question:. I had front engine cover gaskets replaced, valves adjusted, rear engine seal replaced. I was basically leaking half a gallon of oil daily from front and rear. I never had any antifreeze preassure even when the engine was hot. Durning driving even on heavy loads on flat surface my antifreeze temperature usually stayed at around 180 even at idle. My oil temperature was usually at 200-210 regardless if on idle or driving. Now after the repair at idle or driving antifreeze temperature is at 200+-. Oil temperature at idle is 220. When driving under a 44k lbs load my oil temperature reaches close to 240 at times close to red line that's at 250. Antifreeze temperature stays at 200 and fan kicks in at 210-212F. And now when engine is hot I'm getting preassure in antifreeze rasivour which I never did. Before the oil leak repairs engine was hot I would open the antifreeze rasivour and I would never hear feal any preassure. What do you think the Russian mechanics messed up on the engine?
I need your help. I'm tired of spending money on my 2014 cascadia with isx cummins engine. I need to know hiw to clear codes on it when the check engine light comes on, engine shut down light, and warning engine light all shows up at the same time, and the truck goes into 5mph derate
Invest in a Cummins INLINE 6 reader, you can find them on eBay for around $250, the diagnostic software is included. Odds are you need an EGR tuneup, that is where I would start. When was the last time you changed out the sensors and cleaned the soot out of the intake side of the motor? You have two key sensors, your intake manifold pressure sensor and exhaust back pressure sensor, those should be replaced yearly. Now, how about the DOC and DPF cans? When was the last time those were removed, baked and de-ashed? It sounds like your cans are face plugged, along with needing an EGR Tuneup. When was the last time you adjusted the valves too? The overhead? It sounds like the truck has not be maintained properly. Just my .02

I need help. My coolant level is low every other day. When I take the cap off the coolant level rises a bit. At one point it was blowing out under the truck. That has stopped but now it whistling very loud. Can you help????
Why is my Cummins isx leaking water thue the valve cover any idea of why???
Victor, I recommend pressurizing the coolant system to find source of the coolant leak. Thanks for watching and be sure to subscribe. 👍🏼🚚💪🏼
Could a bad air compressor give high air pressure around 140 psi and at the same time high coolant pressure or do I have 2 different problems? 2015 dd15 help please
Very good I love it
Cap replacement? Sorry not sure what your referring in that last part. Im having that same problem. Chaged the egr but still havent a coolant pressure issue.
What cap are you reffering to? 🤔
Did you fix the problem sir?
Why do my radiator blow up.. on mine
We have the same problem, we inspected the EGR cooler, was good, we change the air compresor, last we replace the head, and last a week, we back to the same problem, so now we are lost, any sugestión
Oguer, did you do combustion gas test?
Yes we did
After repairs, you are still showing combustion gases entering cooling system?
Thank you you the best.
Have I been doing it wrong ? Are you supposed to add water to the coolant ? I usually pick up a bottle from the truck stop and never added water to it
Kingsley, it's best to use red coolant that does not require adding water. Water contains minerals that are not good for internal components.
What’d the customer pay for this job total???
I drive a 2013 kenworth t800, ISX hydrovac truck but don't own it or decide when it gets maintenance...
I can turn the truck off Friday afternoon and on monday morning the coolant reservoir will still be holding pressure.
Quite a lot of coolant comes out of the overflow throughout the day. Like maybe 1L or more.
Anyone have any idea where to start?
To get this fixed I need to be able to point the money in the right direction.
Right now buying cases of coolant is the fix they are happy with, but I feel like were killing this awesome truck...
Stop hauling heavy loads I suggest first. Why haul 44k when you can haul 24k for more money and less pressure on truck
I need your help. I'm tired of spending money on my 2014 cascadia with isx cummins engine. I need to know hiw to clear codes on it when the check engine light comes on, engine shut down light, and warning engine light all shows up at the same time, and the truck goes into 5mph derate
Derrick, sorry to hear your having issues. Do you have the code read out?
Just my .02
@@TATEXPRESSINC sorry my phone has been acting up. I just had it repaired. I had to take a temporary job until i get my truck repaired. I had a technician come out and put a laptop on it, and discovered that the nox sensors had it in derate. I will change then out, and follow the advice of Michael Wright. Thanks guys. I definitely will keep you all informed.
@@michaelwright1602 Thanks for the very informative comments. I will definitely follow your advice. Currently, i had to jump on a temporary driving position to keep things going. I will be back on the cascadia every weekend until i get it fixed.
Hey man I love your videos but now at this point I need your help my truck was at cummins for the extended warranty evaluation inspection and they found The front gear housing gasket has an oil leak that is classified as a class 3 leak, meaning oil is running down the housing, also the coolant filter is leaking coolant. now you know if I get that fixed by dealer it would cost me $$$ I live in texas Dallas 1st time truck owner and very confused about the situation please advise me thank you
Had a 12 kw with an isx & had same issue but unfortunately my problem was a cracked block
Update please, I have a friend who's the same problem but don't know what to do
My reservoir is fill to the top but I have no coolant leaks what bayou thank is going on
My isx15 burning coolant I'm adding up half or more then half gallon of coolant in after 10days.now i noticed on oil pouring cap i see some green fungus type thing
Why would any coolant come out of the AC drain tube located on passenger side firewall?? Please help!
It's not coming out the tube. The coolant reservoir overflow tube is right next to it so it's coming down the side.
Brandnew 579 x15 a gallon a month . No leaks going somewhere. Truck has 31k on it i got it at 957 miles
