      I do the same thing but use a 18" alignment bar that I ground down to a point. Comes in more handy when they are more recessed as well.
      Old timers like to give you shit but I don't care. They can continue to fill their armpit with nasty diesel oil. Or better yet drop a full filter on their face and make a huge mess.

    Was driving a new truck with a Cummins engine once years ago. It developed a loud screaming noise. The boss said you are near a Cummins dealer. Tell them to check it out and change the oil. A large hose clamp was in the turbo. I looked under the truck before I climbed in The drain plug was hanging by about 1 thread. Luckily the plug was at the front where it was easy to see.

    Hey yall i got a 2001 cummins ISM. The oil starts out at 65 psi then drops into the teens after warming up and it drops at the filter head Ive ruled out pump, guage, leaks, injectors, jakes while everything on the valve train looks good. I had a 12 hour diagnostic that ensured the internals had normal ware. I recently had the injectors in cylinder 2 replaced as well as a rocker arm on the same cylinder replaced. I used the truck for two days and had to bring it back to the same shop. The mechanic informed me that there was a wire broken on the number 2 jake assembly. And now insists that it wasnt from the work they did but dosent know whats wrong with it please any suggestions will be greatly appreciated

    My theory is the oil plugs tighten on their own some how. We have a couple cat motors and they have 1 1/2 drain plug. I've serviced the same truck twice in a row, I was the only one to touch the drain plug and that son bitch was tight as hell had to use the ez red 3/4 drive extended ratchet. The one that's 3 foot long lol. And I know I put it on "hand tight" last service lol

    • @KoonTrucking
      @KoonTrucking  6 років тому

    Shouldn't pre fill the oil filter, you are sending unfiltered oil through the system.

    unscrewing the drain plug on the side of the oil pan leaves another 1 gallon of dirty oil inside. first mistake! the second mistake is that if you tighten the drain plug with such an effort, the thread will soon be broken. seeing so much lack of professionalism, I did not look further.
