I know how you feel. 🦒👏🥰💐 Interestingly, the more experienced I get with growing orchids the more I learn how environment can change the way they react. I need to separate some canes so that when they start they don't rub up against each other when the wind blows. Another big storm is expected tomorrow, sooooo 🚣🏼♂️ but hopefully the forecast starting Monday remains correct! Have yourself a relaxing evening, amiga mia! Thank you so much for watching 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Denise!! Hi 😍 💐that ceraula is insane amazing! The pink version of the victoriae reginae, YES!! I never thought of it that way, but you are so right. The blooms, though, are very delicate and a water dropping on the lip will wash the markings off giving them a water color look. Now that she is on her own mount, I don't have to worry about water splashing on her blooms anymore. But first, let's get her back to strength and then those glitter sparkly blooms will be back. They really are amazing 😍 thank you so much for watching! I hope your Saturday is fabYOUlous 🫶🏼❤️🌸

Nice experience sharing video.A stagnant potted cattleya, upon division and transferring to three mounts is throwing out new roots and shoots after a period of 3 months. My observation is that cattleyas do better on mounts Nina.As regsrds my aphyllum curtain project, taking the cue from you wooden elongated pot is ready, around 25 aphyllum keikis are resdy, I have to get the help of a technician( truss workman) to fix the pot firmly. The climate here is excessive hot during this time with temperature running ss high as 37 degree Celsius during day Nina. Thoroughly bathing the orchid early morning with well water or rain water and providing shade using 50 per cent green nets or naturlal curtains by growing passion fruits on top of orchid growing portion protect the den. orchids from sun burn Nina.
🌸🥷🏼 Director Jose San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰 💐hi!! Amigo mio!! The visual you describe of growing passion fruit on top of the orchids as a natural canopy is just insane and made my brain explode with happiness! Wow!! I LOVE passion fruit and to use the canopy as protection from the sun, is nothing short of genius! But, why am I so surprised, YOU are a genius 😱 amazing! 👍🏼 cattleyas do do better on mounts, yes! If I had the space for the winter months, I would have some others on mounts, but for the warm growers, they can't be mounted because where do I hang them? The weight of the wood, the size etc.... its is not feasible for me. But, the cernua can stay outside during my winter, so that is what we are going to do come the time when new roots start. 🤞🏼 I can't wait! We are expecting another major weather front tomorrow, a repeat of the past days. I feel as though today was just a break for us and that storm that passed a couple of days ago, will be blown right back to us. My orchids have now been indoors for 3 days, it was too cold to take them outside today, but hopefully Monday's forecast will stay correct, because... even with clouds it is going to be much warmer and out they go again! Please enjoy the heat for me (if at all possible) I know that it can be tough doing the work you do with the heat, but know that I am one that appreciates if you would take a moment and 'feel sorry for me and my orchids' 🥹😅 I hope your had a wonderful Saturday, 🌸🥷🏼Amigo! Thank you so much for all you do and thank you for the beautiful visual of your natural and delicious canopy! I imagine walking among your orchids and picking ripe passion fruit, biting it open just to crack the out shell and then do the messy slurping sounds while eating it 🤣 that is how I used to eat them as a child when we went to market. Never mind the sticky mess I was in afterwards 🤣🫶🏼❤️🌸

🌸🥷🏼 Trish San 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 hello Orchideen Schwester!! 5 to go 🥳 🥳🙏🏼 the ceraula.... it needs all the attention that I can give it because the thrips issue is still a threat, even this time of year. Now that it has rained a lot, the prevention has washed off, so after the forecasted storm tomorrow, I need to get my paintbrush out again. (neighbor watches me paint the leaves of my orchids and calls for straight jacket 😂) (neigbor sees me out in the rain with an umbrella spraying orchids down with CalMag and calls for straight jacket 😂) have you seen the state of Fernanda's cernua after her pup chewed it? It is bouncing back, so maybe not all is lost 😓 🤞🏼thank you for the feedback on this video. I hope you are feeling better 🙏🏼 maybe one day we can do a live together stream on your channel? Hi Nina I have a phal with some type of small insect right in the crown, is there anything I can do about that? Would rubbing alcohol on a q-tip dry so as not to cause crown rot? Thank you for your advice 🙏
Hi 😍💐 I would use the rubbing alcohol on a paint brush because a Q tip will not get into the tighter connections of the crown. You will not risk any crown rot because the alcohol will evaporate but have a kitchen towel ready to absorb any excess alcohol that makes you feel uncomfortable if it doesn't evaporate fast enough to your liking. Q tips and tight spaces don't really work. They do not get into the areas well enough and you would have more alcohol going where you don't need it, as opposed to a paint brush that you can brush excess liquid along the structure. I hope that this helps and that insect is evacuated 😊 thank you so much for watching and for the support on the channel! Truly appreciate you 🫶🏼 have a wonderful Sunday ❤️🌸
that was a nice way to discuss some orchids. Interesting to see the cross over between collections and how orchids fare in different growing conditions. I'm honestly surprised the aclandiae wasn't able to make it, given the new roots that were starting. If it makes you feel any better, I struggle growing that one too. I should just mount it and be done with it.
Don Miguel 🥰💐 hola jefe! When he told me that he has so many orchids that I have, I thought... why not! Then he sends me his list and wow, its like a twinsies collection 😅 amazing! So, there is a 3 way race to get a dowiana to bloom, that I know of, your's, Troy's and mine! This should be interesting 👍🏼 I love videos like these. They are the type of videos I like to make, bringing viewers into the fold so to speak. Just like your crispa and mine. 👍🏼 IF one day I have the capability, aclandiae is on the list as a replacement. The winter indoors is still too cold for it, even with the active root growth. I left it too late with her, so that was really my bad. Meh!! On the mount with your's and I am sure she will take off 👍🏼 thank you so much for watching! Thank you so much for everything, Michael 🫶🏼 words cannot express just how much I appreciate you ❤️🐾❤️🌸
HI Nina 😍💐 its so good to see you! I hope you are doing well 🫶🏼 thank you so very much for watching, lovely lady ❤️ hope you had a great Saturday and I wish you the same for Sunday 🌸
HI Aracely 😍💐 the orchid is not lost if the growing point at the crown has not suffered any damage. Do not cut away any of the cold damage, instead watch and see if it dries out the areas on it's own. Cutting away the damage should be the last resort. Usually, once an orchid with cold damage is back in normal temperatures, the damage will remain, but won't spread. Cutting a leaf opens wounds and that could pose issues with starting bacterial rot, even if cinnamon is applied. The most important thing is that the roots are ok, the stem has not suffered any damage and that the growing point is still showing normal growth. Your orchid may stall, may grow a smaller leaf, but that is all part of the recovery process. I hope that this helps!! I am sorry that your gift came damaged, but she should be ok if it is only the leaves. Thank you so much for watching, Aracely! Hope your day is going beautifully for you 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Wow! Just wow! What an awesome video to begin the day 😁😁 Your prismatocarpa is the reason why I got mine!! I just love that orchid. She is mighty and makes such a statement on the patio. Look your dowiana!!! 😍😍😍😍 mine is quite the pain haha but you just made a point that I NEVER considered, her lighting. I have her getting blasted right along with my bifolates and my Ansellia…and I’m now questioning if that’s why she’s not the happiest. 🤔🤔 Thank you soo very much for this share! It was incredible 🥷🌺🫶🏾
🌸🥷🏼 Troy San, Hi 😍🙌🏼🤸🏼♀️🥰💐 first of all, I owe you an apology because I really flipped your name around and only realized after filming that my dyslexia had kicked in! I wanted to change your growing conditions to match your true name, but then I thought with my commentary, it may sound messy! I am very sorry for this mistake 😓 imagine if the prismartocarpa did bloom on all 3 spikes 😵💫😱🤪 dowiana, we have a little 'race' going on as to who is going to get their's to bloom 😅 such fun to be able to do a video like this and I look forward to the second one, now I am not sure if I should correct your name in part 2 because of how messy that might get between the 2 videos, so please let me know if you are ok with me sticking to the way this video came out or if you would prefer I get it 100% right for the next video. I was a little stressed getting this video out, after almost 2 days without power, so I even forgot to put a ticker in to mention my mistake. Meh! I so appreciate you being up for this video! As I mentioned, these one on one videos are something I so want my channel to be based on, but I am not getting anywhere, growth wise, fast enough, to implement my MO 🥹 I live in hope!! Thank YOU for your support! Part 2 should air next weekend, if all goes well 🫶🏼 hope your day is a sparkling Saturday ❤️🌸
@@NinjaOrchids There’s no need to worry over my name. My family called me Troy boy growing up, I’m rather use to it. I am so excited for part 2, the anticipation is building 🙌🏾😁 I’m so thrilled we’ve been able to do this
Enjoyed your update. I was surprised to discover that you and I are growing some of the same orchids. My dowiana was recently repotted into tree fern bark and is doing amazingly well. (I was told that getting the watering cycle correct for them was the difficult part of growing them.) I also have the Den. ceraula. Mine is just one cane, but it has an active keiki sprouting. It is potted in tree fern bark as well. I do have a question for you. I've been having difficulty keeping my cattleya orchids hydrated. They are in medium lava rock. I've found that the leaves are dehydrated for several. Should I use CalMag more often on them? If yes, how often? Thanks for your beautiful, informative videos. I look forward to starting my day watching them while I have my morning coffee or tea.
😍 Hi Pat 💐 thank you so much for letting me know that you enjoyed the video and thank you VERY much for watching! It was rather long BUT I get carried away when I get into the ins and outs of orchid updates. I feel as though every detail matters and well.... yackety yackety yackety ensues 😅 tree fern bark is the bomb for orchids! Although organic, it behaves just like inorganic media. The breakdown can take years and years, it is fantastic stuff! I am envious that you have it readily available to use for your orchids. 👍🏼 I was told that I would not be able to keep my dowiana alive in semi hydro, but here we are! She is alive, growing roots like crazy ... just the blooming, so I go with what I see happen in the pot and judge according to the performance of the root system if an orchid is struggling. That is why I have to switch to lava rock recently, because the orchids in question struggle with the colder temps during the winter in leca. When she blooms, there will be cartwheels around the patio 🤸🏼♀️😂 potted Den ceraula, interesting and yes, that tree fern is just the ticket for her. I have a couple of questions about your keiki: is it branching from the main cane? Does it already have roots growing? I have not seen my ceraula grow any keikis in all the years that I have had it, so that is why I am asking. To my understanding, this orchid branches from the main canes. So, I am curious about your keiki 😊If your lava rock set up is not providing sufficient moisture for your cattleyas, consider leaving an inch of water in the mask or saucer, depending on how you have them potted up. CalMag will not solve the dehydration problem. Also, are the roots of those cattleyas ok? Viable? It could be that they are not doing their job properly? Please let me know. If the roots are fine, then an inch of water in the pot will give the cattleyas more to draw from. Really appreciate your support, Pat! Thank YOU so very much 🫶🏼 I hope that your day is going beautifully ❤️🌸
Thank you so much for replying to my comments. That activity must surely fill hours during your day. First, the cattleyas. I looked at them again this morning and realized that the leaf desiccation issue is not as widespread as I had thought. The large, established cattleyas seem to be fine in the lava rock and clay pots. It's the younger cattleyas which seem to be the most affected. And many have just been removed from mounts (because they weren't growing well) and potted in small/medium lava rock. Perhaps it is just an adjustment period that they have to go through, and my concern is a bit premature. Many of these orchids are in plastic pots (which I understand will help hold moisture better than clay pots). I watered them first thing this morning with rainwater (we fortunately have several rain barrels which provide water for potted plants.) I'll watch more closely to be sure that they are well hydrated. As for the Den ceraula. I added it to my garden in December. Of course, that beautiful flower was what sold me on getting one. It is just one cane right now. But it is flowering profusely.....and has been in flower since I bought it. About 3/4 up the sole cane there is a branching on it. I assume that growth is a keiki. I repotted it in a small plastic cone pot in tree fern bark. So far so good. Thanks again, for raising questions which inspired me to rethink the situation with the cattleyas. Stay safe, happy and healthy.
I am so happy that troubleshooting via text is so beneficial. Sometimes I have the tendency to talk in circles because I am not sure how many variables I need to think of to include. So, your reply is much appreciated! The plastic pots with the lava rock indeed provides for more moisture retention and is ideal for the smaller sized cattleyas. I am also happy to read that the desiccation is not as alarming as you initially thought. However, I appreciate how quick you are to asking questions, because, with orchids, once we see a possible issue it may already be the side effect of a bigger issue, so there is no time to waste. We may sometimes jump the gun with our concern, but it is better to be safe than sorry 👍🏼 it does take quite some time, yes, but.... that is the biggest emphasis for my channel when I started uploading videos! I have seen so many channels not answer questions throughout the years that I was watching videos, it would frustrate me. Not because I had questions, but I thought it was so rude of the channel holders to not say a word. 🤷🏼♀️ granted, I do not have thousands of comments to reply to, but should that ever be the case, then I would do video after video responding to comments. Because, we can do that as well. We can answer comments by means of a short video. Still, I find that comments are super important for other viewers, who may be shy about asking questions, they may find their answer in the comments' section so it is a win win for all involved. Personally, I just love hearing the different conditions, the different challenges and I really love it if I am of any help at all 😊 ceraula is a machine! She is not an easy one to find, so, you have yourself a winner. I hope mine will grow back to strength and then blooms blooms blooms! Right now, she is getting rained on again and well, we know what that means for an orchid 👍🏼 unfortunately, I am renting this property so me catching the rain is only possible with the various containers that I have. Fresh rain water available on a frequent basis... what a treat 🙌🏼 stay safe as well as well happy, ditto to that and the health part 👍🏼 thank YOU for the support on my channel 🫶🏼

Hope your day is going beautifully for you 🫶🏼❤️🌸
Thank you so much for replying
You are very welcome! 🫶🏼
Wow!
I am so excited for part 2, the anticipation is building 🙌🏾😁 I’m so thrilled we’ve been able to do this
🫶🏼 Thank you for being so understanding!! 🫶🏼 and ditto!! 😃
Thank you ObT 💙🌱
