The Bass player on this recording (Mr Charles Fambrough) was one of my Bass teachers. He use to be married to Stanley Clark's sister. He has two daughters who look like him and a son who looks like Stanley. He died a couple of years ago. They use to call him Broskee. He was a very nice and sharing person. RIP Brother Fambrough

Correct me if i'm wrong but wasn't this not an live-recording at "Bubba"'s club somewhere in Florida, around '80/'81? On alto, and music director, is Bobby Watson. Wynton was then part of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers. This same line-up i saw in Holland in Feb/March '81 and it blew my mind. Absolutely one of the best live-gigs i've seen/been to. This incredible lively/improvisational/purely driven/inventive music seems, for me, nowadays "lost". I must add that Bobby Watson's arrangements were the best, in my opinion, off any Jazz Messengers times/line-ups. This was, by far, the most sublimely Jazz music of the highest order/pinnacle! Be proud and embrace this Jazz music of yours America. Safe-keep this art form, at all costs!
mochi1102 He's definitely good, but I don't think he has the same innovation thought set that Miles Davis had. Not that it's all that bad. He definitely is one of the best in his own field.
Oh, yessss WynTon 🎺 & your DaD 🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹 “My NOLA HOMIE” SHALOM✋🏽

RIP Brosky
That guy on trumpet, he might be going places.
Articulation, phrasing, fluency, power, control. If you're a trumpet player you can only give up or push yourself to get to his level
LOL...understatement is your superpower Sir!!

Wynton is a genius.

Yes, it was recorded at Bubba's Jazz Restaurant, Fort Lauderdale, Florida, October 11, 1980.
@@leszekkrzeminski3821 Correct; and it was marketed/released under Wynton’s heading. Great session though. Be well & Cheers!
Go Wynton! was he born playing the horn? His Dad would know. The sidemen in these pieces are all top standard too. Lovin this so thanks very much.
He is now showing the future of Wynton, over so what? by Miles Davis, precise sound and future possibibiy over MilesI think.
I agree.

Eita !!!!
parfois, je me dis que winton marsalis est un bourdon qui bourdonne un peu trop, mais quel trompettiste vraiment extraordinaire !!
